"So brave, so dependable and so modest - *rare in men these days, very rare."*
    TELL ME ABOUT IT.

This is not technically breaking the 4th wall. Commissioner Gordon is not addressing the viewer directly but simply looking into the camera as he delivers his lines. It isn't breaking the 4th wall unless he is addressing the viewer as if he knows they are watching & acknowledging their presence. These are great clips, nonetheless. Good job! Keep them coming!

In Adam West's biography he recounted a cast table read thru.most present were laughing at the humorous script.at one point Neil Hamilton quite seriously asked why are you laughing?".
Mr. West concluded that Mr. Hamilton did not realize that they were doing satire.Seeing this makes me think that Mr. Hamilton knew exactly what was going on.

Neil Hamilton was reportedly a bit grouchy on set. But I agree that he likely realized this was satire. After all, Frank Gorshin was nominated for a supporting actor Emmy in the musical/comedy category, and Batman was not a musical. *Maybe* Hamilton was oblivious at some very early point, but surely he’d have been clued in at some point. I do note that each of these talking-to-the-camera moments were from Season 2.

Neil Hamilton is the best Jim Gordon we have had yet and the only version not to wear the now iconic Jim Gordon mustache the series and movie did so much for Batman that a lot of people don’t know about

When Batman and Robin finally defeat Mr Freeze, shouldnt they have celebrated by having Cold Cuts Ice Cream and Klondike Bars?

At the end of the first Mister Freeze two-parter, Dick Grayson grimaced when the dessert was Baked Alaska.

They cut the one scene out where the Commissioner actually broke the 4th wall of communications, these scenes are miscellaneous to the fact of synthesizer technology at that time.

Riddler, Catwoman, Otto Preminger's Mr. Freeze, Penguin, and Zelda for the villains (maybe more). For the protagonists: Along with Gordon, we have Bruce, Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, and Chief O'Hara. I'm not including scenes where the characters are on TV addressing Gotham City.

The whole series was overplayed, with characters taking themselves too seriously. Neil Hamilton and Stafford Repp simply played in-character, and they did it well.
