I learn so much watching your clips. I was aware of ear pinning, but seeing them keep a respectable distance and why they keep that distance is so interesting. BTW those coats are gleaming; you can see yourself in them. Thank you so much.

Love seeing the horse behavior explanations. We moved to a new home a year ago and have horses pretty much in our backyard. We love watching them and this helps us understand what might be going on at times.

When I was young I took riding lessons, one time when I was about 8 years old I was on a large horse (probably too large for my size) and was having a lesson in a large round pen with several other riders and I noticed that my horses ears were pinned and before I could control him he went for another horse, turned around, and barrel kicked the other horse which sent me flying over his head. Unfortunately this was in the 70’s before helmets (I was riding western) were a thing. Luckily I wasn’t seriously injured. Apparently the horse I was riding and one of the other horses in the round pen were enemies (something the instructor knew). Needless to say we switched riding schools but to this day I still have a hard time trusting the horse I’m riding when we are around other horses.

I'm so sorry you had that experience and I'm glad you're okay. We teach so much horsemanship in our lesson program and we teach a lot of adults who have had a similar experience to yours. We have to get that trust back in place. We do understand.🥰

My alpha-mare can discuss her displeasure or curiosity with me when she nods her head once. I actually understand what she’s trying to tell me. I do try to watch their body language when they talk to each other. With 3 geldings and 4 mares, it’s fun to watch the dynamics of it all.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful horses with us and sending us some knowledge. Question, at what age would a horse get its first farrier visit? And what age would the teeth get a grind from a vet? Thank you ❤❤

It’s my pleasure. Young horses even weanlings can get their hooves trimmed by the farrier. Horses are born with milk teeth dry much like our baby teeth. They start to lose them between 2 and 5. They may need their teeth floated after they lose them.

I think people may be a little confused when you say "He'll bite you" but I think you mean "He'll bite other horses" not people. A horse should not be allowed to pin or bite the people in her/his life, that is always unacceptable behavior & needs to be dealt with.
