I don’t think she did anything wrong in the beginning. Once she chose to be the Goblin Queen that’s where she went down the wrong path. I understand what Scott did was slimy. In the end it was a big mess but dang it what a great read. The drama was high hahaa. The story was interesting.
Everyone though that the Hellfire Club White Queen and Black Queen showed too much skin, then Madelyne turned evil and said HOLD MY BEER.

It’s a little rushed, yes.
However, due to the nature of the 92 series keeping Jean alive after Dark Phoenix, the “Sinister switched them” situation was the most effective way they could make Maddie’s reveal have some gravitas.
Plus, she got to say goodbye to Nathan and neither she or cyclops were given their worst moments.
Are we going to see her next getting powers from the demon S'ym?
So the Phoenix Force "cloned" Jean, and that clone turned into the evil Dark Phoenix. And Mr. Sinister cloned Jean, and that clone turned I to the evil Goblin Queen. It seems to me like cloning Jean is a bad idea, unless you want to create a powerful super-villain.
My suggestion for a future video is the Alpha Flight member SASQUATCH.

Thank Goodness X-men 97 trimmed all this down to an understandable single focused, emotionally intimate episode.
As well taking to account all the stuff the original 1992 animated series had already established prior.
This storyline was pretty hard to keep up with, for my 14 year old brain, when it originally hit the shelves. 40 years later, the story holds peoples attention. There were only about 6 people in my school that knew comic book stores existed. Now millions of people are thirsting for comic book stories. F'ing Crazy!
I think one of the big things is that we’re seeing a character who would’ve been dismissed as just a clone get depicted by people who liked her,
During the pandemic, this one guy started a podcast called Cerebro where, each episode, he brought someone in to talk about a favourite X men character they liked and trimmed down the retcons you don’t need to worry about.
For his 100th episode, he did a five part one on Maddie spanning almost 20 hours.
The last part were listener questions. It was wild.
He might be responsible for all the people who are now big fans of Selene lol.

Thanks for bringing back this background story of Madelyne , how crazy Sinister scheduled this from day one, Poor Scott and poor Maddie having to go through all that because of a madman. It. Is a nice time to introduce the character with the X-men 97 launch. I have to admit from those first 3 episodes I like more the treatment they made of Maddie and all the background story in the tv show, less “tragic” somehow and Madelyne comes out as a good person in the end . Can’t wait to see Sinister coming soon to the X-men 97show. Great video and hope you make a part 2 with Madelyne new involvement again with Havok, Inferno and Chasm ! Good job 👍🏼

Good video. I read all the X-men comics in college during the 1980s but stopped right before Madelyn Pryor was introduced. This summary makes a lot more sense how the character’s arc originally formed, as well as why she was called Madelyn Pryor or the Goblin Queen in the first place, which seems kind of random choices in X-Men ‘97.

The thing that bugs me is: why didn’t Madelyn just go with Bishop back to his timeline and raise her son there? It would’ve been much more satisfying to see Madelyn take her leave with Nathan there.

What is that any adaptation of the dark Phoenix Saga ignores the shear with exception of the 90s cartoon do they think a race of alien bird people are just weird?
it's Shi'ar, and probably because they're viewed as not completely absolutely necessary to the story.

With the exception of the 90s animated series, there can never a direct 1-to-1 adaptation of the Dark Phoenix saga because it'd rely heavily on a lot of pre-established continuity and _a lot_ more characters that had to be introduced prior.
It's too big a story to squeeze into a 2-hour movie.

I can't help but think that if Cyclops had honored his marriage to Madelyne, the whole Infernal arch wouldn't had happened. It's crap like that made me really dislike Scott.
Yeah, that X factor run was what made me dislike Angel. I mean, he’s ratting Scott out (Scott was awful making the guys keep Maddie and Nathan a secret) but he did so to get close to Jean. Meanwhile, Angel’s girlfriend, Candy Southern, was running his company whilst he was neglecting her.

@@johncolosimo1863 That’s why he loses his wings. Candy travels to see him and finds Warren and Jean hugging after he’s been avoiding her for over a month and she breaks up with him. He could’ve followed after her but he went into the tunnels instead. And that’s how his wings were harpooned.
A month later, after freeing himself from Apocalypse, he goes to apologise but finds out that, not only was she getting dirt on Cameron Hodge, but she is missing.
Turned out Cameron hodge tortured and killed her because Angel loved her. Yeah… the talented Mr Ripley vibes are all about with Cameron Hodge.
At least she had a good send off in Phalanx Covenant. And I would like it if she reappeared.
