- Khalk'ru is a fictional extra-dimensional creature created by Abraham Merritt for his novel Dwellers in the Mirage.
This dark octopoid horror is worshiped as a god by the Uighur people who inhabit the Gobi Desert, and whose ancestors migrated to both Europe (giving rise to the Norse people and their legends of the Kraken) and to Alaska, where they settled within a hidden warm valley, unknown to the outside world.
ST Joshi in HP Lovecraft Encyclopedia, suggests that Khalk'ru, as an extra-dimensional octopus demon, may be an analogue to Cthulhu.

Once again, Thank You for digging up these almost forgotten Tales and letting them get the exposure NOW that they never got them!
really good story 👏
Glad you enjoyed it
This is a good one!
Nice to hear a Merritt story thats not People of the Pit. Keep 'em coming and this text to speech voice is much more listenable than others you've used. Keep this one!
Thanks for listening
I like this voice module as well.
Kinda feels like the first half is written by a different person. Cool story though!
Also still hate the use of ai
What an excellent story. Thanks for finding and sharing.
Anyone know a channel where a reading of this book can be listened to?
I only listened to a little....Interesting.
well done!!
Great! I did not know that one!
I remember reading the paperbacks mu grandfather kept. It's where i got my love of Lovercraft, Vance and others. Thank you for the story, I'm off to see if i can find a copy in a used book store
I hope you'll post the other books! This is excellent!
I will release them over next 10 days
Gobi and Sahara are just examples of what we dont remember
Is it just me, or is the audio randomly skipping? To the point I can't listen any longer. Otherwise, it is great.
Can you bookmark a certain skipping
@cosmicandbodyhorror It is happening throughout the whole thing. I started listening yesterday and again today. Same problem. Sounds like skipping on a Cd. As if it is skipping several words at a time. Otherwise, it is a great reading and story.
I will certainly check this and fix it in the complete version
Right.. occasional sounds like it's in a blender... keep losing track of the story!
Excellent reading, thanks!
This shit is ai
I like where this is progressing
I need a cthlulu church... where can I find one? This world is all ready insane so really what could it hurt. I will become a chu'thuul Depah'paluthuleth and approach everyday before the first of forever, I will tell the truth about the coming of sanity of denying it and the truth of the consuming madness of the true world of delusions of ourself and all the lies created by sentience it self.
W00t! A long one, nice! Abraham Merritt is a pretty good author. I've read two of his short stories, but had no idea he wrote a mythos tale.
I shall digest this one during my mandatory insomnia tonight.
Thank you, CABH!
We do use all our brain we just understand 10% of it.
If you look at people's brain activity on mushrooms or lsd vs normal brains you will understand brain connectivity and percentage better.
This is a best voice that the other
Sounds like Ai, couldn't last more than 2 minutes.
@@estebanperez2557 why is A.I. now the go to for voices? I'd say you don't know at all.
Now why is A.I. the go to blame for voices by the complainants?
@@randallbesch2424 because it's quite obvious. The blatant mispronouncing of words and monotonous give it away
Is there more of this?
Yes, 3 more books
@@cosmicandbodyhorror 3 more that follow Leif?! Oh hell yeah. I may wind up having to hit up the local used bookstores over this lol
Wonderful story, but how did we get from the Gobi to the Yukon? Did I miss something? TIA.
At what time does this occur?
Is this two stories?
Excellent story. A bit much bass in the vocals though.
and countless skips and jumps. Good story but those aspects really took me out of it.
Oxygen narcosis if you are exposed to a much higher content. Like going from 21% to 32%.

Much better voice
I would be your biggest fan if you just read these stories yourself. Please be brave and give it a shot. You get some really rare stories that no one else on CZcams has. Well i really want to hear this story but I'm going to not listen because of the ai voice.
