We replaced our stock 7/8" bars with a set of tapered Neken Fat Bars, which offer a little more strength and stability than the original 7/8" bars. Fat bars are typically more suited to motocross and supercross riding, so getting a set of them on our MXstore machine is a must.
The first thing you'll want to do is remove the levers, throttle and kill switch from the handlebars. Grab yourself a T-bar set and a screwdriver and you're good to go.
Once you've removed the accessories from the bars, you can get started on the bar clamps. If you're changing the size of the bars, you'll need to replace the bar clamps as well, so you'll want to start on the bar mount nuts underneath the triple clamp first, otherwise you'll struggle to remove the bar mounts afterward.
Now you've got the bar clamps off you can remove the handlebars themselves. As we'll be replacing our grips with a new set of lock-ons we won't need to grab the old throttle tube, though if you're re-installing that tube on your new bars you'll need to make sure you keep hold of it.
Install your new bar clamps, ensuring they're both facing the same direction, and chuck your new bars in. Use the laser etched markings to centre your bars, and lightly screw on the top of the bar mounts to hold the bars in the place.
Next you'll want to re-install your levers, throttle and kill switch, ensuring you still have a bit of play to allow for re-adjustment once your bars are firmly installed. Now you can use your laser markings to line up your bars exactly where you want them, rolling the bars backward or forwards depending on where you want them to sit.
Once you're satisfied with their position, tighten your bar mount bolts to your manufacturer specs as recommended in your manual. Do the same with the bottom nuts on your bar mounts under the triple clamp.
Once your bars are firmly locked in position, adjust your levers and throttle as required, then tighten your bolts, again to manufacturer specs. Give everything a once over to ensure you haven't missed any nuts or bolts.
Your last step is to chuck your new bar pad on, so make sure it's facing the correct way and install on your new bars.
Choosing your handlebars will usually come down to personal preference. With various designs and a wide range of different bends available, there's a bar to suit every kind of rider. Our in-depth MXstore handlebar guide takes a look at what the different designs and bends offer to different riders, so take the time to have a read through and see what kind of bars will be best suited to you.

Can you just take off the bar clamps with out having to remove the handle bars as in just open them to big nuts unferneath and it all comes out in one from the triple clamps

Hey mate, yes you can do this. It can be easier to take the bars off on their own to help with removing the throttle assembly as the cables can sometimes be quite tight! 💪🏼

      Hey legend,
Were you referring to the fuel line that's running down into the steering stem? 😊
If you were looking at a different part, please send a screenshot through to our Customer Service Team so that we can confirm this for you and also help to find that specific part for your bike, if required: www.mxstore.com.au/contact-us/
      We hope this helps!
      Cheers, MXstore
