it was confirmed that the rings were a sign of yuuri and victor being "SOULMATES".
Also if you look closely at the reciept when yuuri was buying the rings it said "WEDDING RINGS"

Why would you think they aren't engaged? Victor literally says they are engagement rings.

In real life, Yuzuru Hanyu broke Yuuri's free skate by 3 points. I can't w8 for the exhibition skate for all three of them and the new movie!

While we're not getting a second season, I'm hoping the movie will flesh out the minor characters and settle how Victor coaches and competes. While the engagement thing may seem ambiguous, Word of God says they're soulmates at least 😂

I am a firm believer that the rings are engagement rings but it took a while for me to digest it since watching YOI always made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster of feelings. I had to rewatch Ep. 10 several times to take in the fact that they were engaged (Victor also said that the rings were engagement rings- Yuuri though embarrassed never denied it). A couple of months after the series ended the Creator of YOI did an interview about the rings (you can read their translations at @aki_the_geek twitter) that when she was researching for rings she casually dropped that she was looking at engagement rings. Also, she also mentioned that the Omamori 'Charms' were something that figure skaters have, like Yuzuru Hanyu's necklace etc. It was mentioned that Figure Skaters themselves were superstitious about how they wouldn't compete if they didn't have their charm on them. The Omamori have a big cultural significance to the Japanese people- they have them for almost anything i.e. applying for school, pregnancy, exams etc. So the rings didn't signify only an engagement but were considered proper charms to Yuuri.
The pair skate made me cry so much, it was half of what I wanted when the series ended. Unlike some fans, I was happy Yuuri lost, though I was saddened about not getting the wedding, I supported Victor about not wanting Yuuri to retire. Yuuri is still young in terms figure skating years, he still has a lot of seasons he could compete! SO Yuuri losing made me happy but sad at the same time. I also didn't want Victor to retire, I wanted to see the Living Legend from Ep. 1 skate again AHHH!!! which was why the pair skate made me even happier.
I'm happy that this series changed so many people, be it big or small. Sayo Yamamoto, the mad woman behind this series still can't believe the immense success of it, she often encouraged fans to watch live figure skating and the fans of the series have been keeping up with the recent ones. She said that when she first started this series her goal was to make an anime no one has ever seen before- and she succeeded.

Hello sooooo.. I know it's REALLYYYY long ago since all of u reacted to YOI, but have u seen Yuri! on stage? I think u will enjoy it a lot if u see it so it's kinda just a suggestion! There's a special stage story with all the actual voice actors of the characters doing a live stage! It was real funny and great addition to the amount of love for the casts and the anime

Nope, I agree with Sarah, I don't think they're engaged, Yuri got them as like lucky charms and not literally engagement rings. Also, Victor didn't have one himself, the one my put on Yuri's ring, that was one of the two Yuri got. And holy fluff!!! I thought these reaction vids would be like a year ago or something, I'm pretty damn happy Sarah has watched this so close to when I did, aka Saturday night, so yah! #PraisingForSeason2VicturiOnIce~

I could never believe that they were engaged, mostly because of how the whole thing happened. As much as they tried to play it off as an engagement, that was vocally not Yuri's intention, and Victor played it way too casually when he said they were getting married based on a gold medal (talk about conditional love).
And all that drama at the end of episode 11 is pretty strange if they were in fact engaged. I mean if they really had gotten engaged like a month or a week ago, and now Yuri's suddenly like "let's end this" with no real provocation, then something is clearly off. You could assume that they were breaking up after just getting engaged, but that makes little sense. Or you may assume that Yuri was just ending the skating career with his fiance, but that wouldn't really warrant the amount of drama people seemed to make out of the whole thing, cause even if the fiance is retiring, it's not the end of the world since they're still *fiances* .
I personally saw it the way it made the most sense to me: they're not really engaged, and the drama is based solely around Yuri ending his career with Victor, and therefore having little reason to see Victor on as regular a basis as he had been before. After all, if Yuri were to retire in order to allow Victor to skate, Yuri would have to go on with his life, most likely in Japan, while Victor would be busy with skating. Thus, actually making a dent in the loving relationship that was centered around skating.
I'd like there to be an engagement, but the anime is just so cheeky about everything that if there is one, I want it to be full-on, undeniable, serious-face, no minced words, totally banned in your country, gay marriage proposal, on ice. None of that "almost like a proposal", or "it's a good luck charm", or silly art style during a would-be bomb drop.
