so hows does one avoid the scallops when using a sanding disk, I like to keep my surface flat, so i only use a random sander.

What kind of sander is that sir ? Or is that a drill you use as sander ?

The pistol grip sander is my favorite, it's a Dewalt DWE6401DS. The second sander is my Dewalt Random orbital DWE6423. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions you can email me directly, [e-mail].
