Is it possible to beat Borderlands 2 with only the Evil Smasher? What if we tried it in 2024? Can we beat Borderlands with only the biggest nerfed gun in history? Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-sequel, and Borderlands 3 all have guns that can get pretty wacky, but wacky doesn't always mean good. In this challenge run, we try to beat the game with only the once-powerful Evil Smasher! Want to see me try this challenge with a different gun, grenade, or shield? Comment below on what gun, grenade, or even shield I should try next! Any gun in any game (Borderlands 1, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 3, or Wonderlands!)
The date was April 2nd 2013, and Gearbox just released the patch that would drive the evil smasher into an early grave, never to be taken seriously ever again. 10 years have passed since then and archaeologists have rediscovered the remains of this once powerful weapon, and then I stole it because I wanted to know, Can you beat Borderlands 2 with only the evil smasher? For the rules on this run we will be playing on UVHM OP10, for the new players or the players that never touched this game since the nerf, that pretty just means enemies have 4 times health, health regen, and they're all 10 levels higher than us. BAR will not be allowed for this run and the evil smasher is the only gun we’re allowed to use. Also just to be clear, The evil smasher glitch is not allowed. This might be common sense because it was patched out but the way we use it kind of makes it seem like I'm using a glitch but ill explain that more later. Also, we will be playing as Krieg but melee will not be allowed for this run. I know I know not letting Krieg do his favorite thing is a war crime but the run would devolve into a pure melee run really fast. As for the gear, I'll be using a basic shield, vault hunter relic for funny drops, a low-level slag grenade because Krieg has no slagging skills, if you're one of those people and want to see the slagless version of this run I'll have a link to that in the description. and the legendary reaper classmod, mainly for blood-bath and the extra kill skill duration. Here is a quick peek at the build, feel free to ask questions about it in the comment section, and I'll answer when I can. With all that out of the way let's hop into the run. Right off the bat, we can't really fight anything because the evil smasher is garbage, instead, we have to start farming to activate its effect. Every time you attempt to reload this gun you have a 7% chance to get a bunch of stat boosts that last for the duration of that mag. For simplicity, I'll refer to these powered-up mags as Smasher Mags. Anyway, you See what I mean when I say this looks like I'm doing a glitch. Anyway, after seeing this explosion in front of us or hearing the activation sound we have 26 rounds to fight with, which lets us kill about 2 bad guys assuming they were slagged before we run off to try.

Fun fact: when you're defending the beacon for the fast travel, you can just enter the bar, save quit, load, leave the bar, repair the beacon, go back in the bar, then repeat this about 8 times it finishes the defense part of the mission without having to fight a single loader or constructors
Another fun fact: bloodwings AI breaks if you just keep jumping in place when she lands
do this when you do lowest xp run, you wont believe how fast the level diff catches up
it took me a build breakdown at 4:21 to realize how cool this gun would actually be if not for OP10 bullshit scaling and what seems to be a massive "fuck you" kind of nerf Evil Smasher received just because players was too naughty with it

Yeah, nerfs involving bug fixes, should be limited to the specific bug. Why crash the gun stats when the gun itself isn't even used in it's own bug?
Also, watching the second Flynt fight start, I counted 7% each reload attempt, and counted 350% BEFORE EXCLAIMING PROFANITY OUT LOUD AND LOSING COUNT, seriously how do you not get a smasher mag by then?

fun fact: the fridge is actually optional! once you enter the fridge you can just leave and enter the highands through the dust. You do need to runs through the first part of the highlands outwash in reverse to trigger the sequence of sanctuary phasing back in but hey you dont need to deal with rats

@@tundcwe123 What bothers me about STV is that you NEVER just proc it once. It's always at least three in a row for me and when it procs it will keep proccing hugely disproportionately for at least a minute straight and after that you get like an hour of nothing.

Pro tip: Try tossing the buzz axes. They'll still scale with the boosted Melee damage, but you'll never hit yourself when you throw them

Since I saw the run. I remembered the gun. And I expected complete misery. Just, pain. But it turned out to be just mediocre sorrow.

Uvhm op 10 is already like mythic, tilt, and thunderstorm.
For iron you would have to save quite and load back in the level every time you die
For fog you just cut the mini map
Blind disables the hud (optional but the mini map only run was worse)
Cowbell, black eye, and grunt birthday party would require some more complex modding so optional,
cowbell would turn up explosive knock back
Black eye, set all shield recharge delay timers to some absurdly high value like 99999 second delay, but have melee reset the timer to 0, I’m sure you could make a modded relic for this.
Grunt birthday add a live grenade drops when a midget dies, or the visual effect for the firework.
Catch, IWHBYD, famine, and tough luck can’t really be done.
You could use any character and weapons but for challenge sake I’d say you can’t start with legendary weapons or shields, you have to farm them. You can use classmods legendary.
Legendary psycho gives you i think either 150% or 200% blood mags at 100 stacks. If you wanted a bigger mag, there's also relics that would help with the mag size, specifically a brand loyalty or rifle relic. No clue if there's a shield that might help.
I find it amazing how this run shows what a well-rounded character Krieg is, his skill synergy makes even the evil smasher work (well, sorta kinda...)
Seeing an OW2 reference in Borderlands 2 looks coherent... Except for the part that a psycho is used to reference an omnic monk 🤪
Can you beat Borderlands 2 using only elemental Jakobs weapons? (Greed pistol, Stinkpot assault rifle, and Twister shotgun.) If this is too easy, choose only one of them.

They really took the Evil Smasher out back and bashed it over the reciever with a Gub until it was unrecognizable... Then they took an e-tech pistol to its firing pin-
you probably know this, but the reason wilhelm is so easy was part of a deleted conversation Jack has while you're banished. He poisoned wilhelm, to lure you and Sanctuary into a false sense of security.
Why? Well, if he only defended the power core with a few loaders, Roland would know its a trap. But if he sent the entire hyperion army, he'd lose a massive chunk of his force to the train crash.
But he cant just send Wilhelm, because wilhelm was able to run off ALL FOUR of the BL1 VHs at the same time, so hed obviously wipe the floor with our new hunters.
So a poisoned wilhelm, lacking his Combat Suit, is defeated.
Its weird it was deleted because it really adds a LOT to Jack's character regarding how ruthless and 10 steps ahead he always was.

I legitimately had no idea that Dying Jack had more than one health. It's a monument to the sheer level of garbage the Evil Smasher is that it takes three or four shots to kill fucking DYING JACK.
It’s odd because sometimes he does just have 1 HP but other times he regens. Spaghetti game
Rewatching the vid after a while and getting an idea for a rework of this gun. Probably impossible to implement due to the game being held up on duct tape and a lot of wishful thinking, but still a fun concept I think
So it's called The Evil *Smasher*, right? Well why don't we lean into this name and turn this gun into a melee weapon? Give it +80% melee damage on swings. Now I also actually like the conditional buffs in games that reward you for using gimmicks, so let's say that reloading the gun after getting a melee kill will activate a toned down version of the original effect + add a small grenade nova in front of the player, dealing extra damage on swing. And in case you can't get to an enemy in melee, you'd still have most buffs of a smasher mag. Just to make it at least somewhat balanced, take away a % of ammo from the mag for every swing
Now for the *Evil* part of the smashing. Give it even more melee damage against badasses and bosses. We don't need no boring stuff. Give it a whole 250%, turn it down in testing if it's too much. On top of that, bump up the on reload buff to the full power of the smasher mag, with bigger and deadlier melee novas to boot.
This way the player is rewarded for either chaining the buffs from enemy to enemy until they get to the big target, or can quickly clean up after dispatching of the big bad. Now granted it doesn't change the horribly designed challenge that is UVHM and OP levels in the first place, but I figured it'd fit right into one of those overhaul mods

This is where I find fractions to be helpful for perspective, silence the voices' 12% is 3/25, and smasher's 7% is 7/100... Same numbers but this way you just feel one happens like 4x as much as the other, but also you remember the bad times more than the good😅🙃☠️ I also feel like luck is exponential growth even if it's not😅🙃
Thank god this gun wasn't in the torgue dlc. Otherwise, you would have never done this run after the nukem only challenge. Btw, i was wxpexting either the chopper or the vehicle only run, but this is as insane as those two, so you never ceaze to amaze me/us, love u poyo gas stinky mask

Bee, firebee, hornet, hive, yellowjacket, and the stinger only, but you've gotta farm for them since pollinators are hard workers
