  • Found this reaction in my unpublished archives from nearly 2 years ago. Sounds like a different experience than the studio version. Bonham is a machine aided by JPJ, and Plant's vocals sound matured and refined. Page uses his improvisation to great effect, and adds great dynamics. Overall, an epic performance.

You have a great ear for music and you articulate your points very well.
Jimmy Page looks like a melting candle during this performance, as Bonham mows down the crowd with his Gatling gun drums.

Robert Plant said that this performance of Achilles Last Stand was the best and that Jimmy and Bonzo were unbelievably tight.

@Ronnie L Too had Plant’s voice and delivery sounds terrible here, though. He sounds like he must phoned it it.

This live in 1979 at Knebworth was UNBELIEVABLE! NOBODY beats them...especially live!

Julie, i know, you're in love with them, but, they weren't as good as before 1975! Stay objective, honey.....It's a fucking good show, because, they were the best, but, you can see, they're not good as before anymore! And, taking too much drugs! I took heroin, i'm clean now, but, i can recognize à guy taking some heroin! JIMMY, was taking too much heroin! Bonzo, too much cocaïne, and alcohol! ROBERT, took drugs, but his main problem, was, he didn't get the same high voice anymore, after the surgery.....The only guy, who was still so good was JPJ.....Be objective, please.....🌹

They are definitely the greatest band ever, each the GOATS of their crafts, & together the GODS of music. Since I’ve Been Loving You live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), is my favorite live, you can see feel & hear their passion. You still have many great songs from them you can react too.

The song I think you were talking about in the beginning was Kashmir, it was written about Plant & Pages travels across the Sahara Desert. They were on their way to a music festival, they enjoyed the people they met. They couldn’t understand each other’s languages, but both understood music. Plant fell in love with Morocco, & still visits there often. That’s the song the band was/is most proud of, live both with John Bonham & on celebration day with his son Jason on drums.

Argue all you want about individual musicianship, these were the best 4 bandmates every. Don't even try to argue.

This song I think represents the car accident Plant & his family had in Greece, his wife had serious head injuries, & Plant had a broken elbow & damaged his leg really bad. They didn’t know if he’d walk again, he was in a wheelchair for about a year, this song & album was recorded with him in that wheelchair. They almost named it the wheelchair song, his children had minor injuries, Page’s daughter was in the car & unharmed. Plant had to be away from his wife in California, to record this album, sadly while both were going through healing.

You are absolutely dead on with your analysis and that is why Page is the greatest guitar player ever.

I agree, I hate when idiots say Page is sloppy, I’d much rather this then sounding just like the studio version. These guys made every concert different & exciting, even if they played the same city several nights. I think it’s more jealousy, the Page being sloppy, yes occasionally he’d make a slight mistake.

Early on you commented about Jimmy hitting a bass tone. He uses his left thumb to pull off the open E top string. He uses his left thumb on so many chords that it frees-up the remaining four fingers to add tone and depth to the chords. As for Bonzo, his drumming follows the lead guitar (Jimmy). Check out other Zep tunes.

You should do a deep cut Zeppelin. One of my favorites I never hear anyone talk about. Royal Orleans.

A functioning addict, but playing guitar for Page is like breathing. In interviews he seems uncomfortable without his guitar, he’s the greatest lead guitarist,in the greatest band of all time.

11 years of madness, abuses, too much drugs, alcohol, women, concerts, tours, etc....A lot of terrible things, which happened in their private lifes.....they weren't as good as at the beginning, but, they were, still, better than all the other bands!😂What a performance! Magic! Jimmy Page, is pathetic, you can see he's taking too much heroin😂But, it's, still, the only, guitarist, who's able to challenge HENDRIX, THE GOD OF GODS, ZEUS😂Nice reaction.....Peace from France bro 👍✌️
