I grew up on Stronghold, Stronghold Crusader, Starcraft, and Warcraft. This DE remodel and additional content is nostalgic gold to me.
What about AOE?? I used to spend countless hours on MSN Zone playing AOE ROR with my clan! Legion wars only!! Oh how I miss those days.

@@delt19 AoE is fun but lacks the relatively realistic and lively environment of Stronghold. To be fair, AoE IV brings some of the stronghold features like castle walls and mounted archers. However, the beautiful community of peasants living under your lordship, the concept of popularity, etc., is what I prefer more. I can stare at workers baking, crafting metal, making candles, etc. inside a nice, well-fortified, safe castle all day!

Stronghold was an amazing game, that I sunk hundreds of hours into. I can still remember some of the maps. I remember setting people on fire with the oil.
My mom loved it too. Playing it late into the night.
She had just asked if there were any game similar to Stronghold, so she will be excited to hear how it's coming back.

Can't wait till this drops. I've been playing Stronghold Crusader HD recently (really since SH ever come out) and trying to complete the missions. Some maps are such a challenge even with the help of other CZcamsrs such as SergiuHellDragoonHQ. Stronghold and SH Crusader are two of my favorite PC games after all these years.
Man I've been playing the stronghold games since I was little, my grandpa and I would play separately (still at the same time) show off our different castle builds and strategies. I taught him how to build scenarios in stronghold crusader
I really liked Stronghold and II. Wonder if they took some old ideas from their forums for this game. Following for sure and see how this turns out.

Stronghold 2 was my favorite and is the best of the Stronghold series IMO. I would really like to see a completely new one that is very similar to Stronghold 2 but with a new engine, bigger map, more story, etc. I am working on making my own version of the game exactly how I want it based off of the feel of Stronghold 2, hopefully firefly beats me to it. I would just hate to make the game myself as I enjoy story modes and I doubt id enjoy the story as much if I saw everything coming.

Stronghold crusader was the first game that I ever played and I play it to this day, I hope it receives definitive edition next. :)
with my friend we couldn't play it multiplayer anymore I hope this one will have smooth multiplayer experience and hope to see crusader definitive edition next year

classic if i recall correct oil traps
remind me playing this game with my room mate with lan cable for multiplayer. then I never create the wall. but build alot of tower and gate to closing my territory, easy to repair only one click 😂

my dad showed me stronghold crusader when i was 4 years old he was playing it on our old box of a pc haha and i still play it to this day and he does too
I got strongholds crusader the other day (it gives you extreme edition for free) because I have a Mac book with 8gb of ram so it’s the only game I can play, crusader was the first computer game I ever played

Has anyone got a list of similar RTS games? I played a bunch when i was younger but cant remember the others? There was one in particular where you evolve through the ages for example starting in the stone age and ending in the space age. Please help!

The stronghold series got me hooked on RTS! I think I played stronghold 2 and stronghold legends for a good 15 years. Loved making maps, loved the peace and the war campaign, loved the ready made castles in Stronghold 2, playing as ice in legends, such a great take on the Arthur myths. Crusader (extreme) was amazing too. I wish they made a new quality sequel additionally to the remaster! Let’s not talk about 3…
I have to disagree with you on Stronghold 3. Personally I think it is likely that there would be a in between sequel to the original game that acts like a prequel to Stronghold 3.
@@keithconlon4374 fair enough! I can’t even quite remember why I didn’t like it. I bought it, tried it and went back to the older games. I don’t mind where they place the sequel within the timeline, keeping it in the spirit of the original, similar mechanics and characters is all I’d wish for.
@@bienenfluegel I personally find it matter of those who have issues with newer games they buy the newer games for just that to be antagonistic trollish burn/tear down/destroy anything new down. Rather than positively building things(positive ideas suggestions) up critique feedback.
And do there very best to try to ruin it for those who do enjoy the ever increasingly newer games.

Stronghold 2 definitely felt like an improvement, with those feasts and other stuff, but the next titles are an insult.

Honestly preferred stronghold 2 and legends but can see why the original has a more cult following. A comprise between the two different graphical styles would of been great. They can really make something of this IP if they put the time and money behind it. Look at all the hype for manor lords.

Original Stronghold is definitely lacking in units (merc camp with suitable units from western europe) and AI lords. Wish they add some dlc-s (expansions), so we can have bigger options in multiplayer. And to make multiplayer competitive dev should make option for players to choose one of the castle designs that they will defend through all the match… and to have limited resources in materials and manpower. This will make games much more dynamic and prevent players from building endless walls stacked with tons of units. The idea is to have games lasting to max 45 min, not sieging one castle for eternity. That way you can defeat enemy players by killing their lord or draining them out of resources or manpower. Adding ranked multiplayer will keep the players
Ah so sadly it looks like the demo is for publishers/content creators only which is unfortunate. Oh well, I'm sure a more public demo will be available at some point before November for those of us who enjoyed the game 20+ years ago.
