After getting halfway through the game, here are my tips/thoughts. Parry is king, dodging will work, but you can't down enemies for retribution attacks when you dodge. Spend your first two points on the upgrade to parry timing. The parry window at that point will be very forgiving, and just start parrying every attack, to get your timing down, you can even go into training mode to practice. However, you decide to play, my number one piece of advice is, be very aggressive in this game. Aggression is rewarded. You're not animation locked, like in souls games, so you can parry in the middle of any attack. I see too many people just standing around waiting to parry.

This is what I learned, I was trying to wait for parry couldn't get past simple enemies, then started being aggressive and use attack combos, low level enemies are a breeze now

Are you sure you're not animation locked? I could've swore I tried a few times in the middle of jumping combo attacks and got punished.
That was my first major mistake when fighting abbadon, I was waiting for his attacks so I could parry but once I got impatient and just started laying into him the fight was 100x easier same with the alpha later on
I was so focused on my own parry timing practice, I never noticed the CRAZY jiggle physics until now. I knew the cherries move but didnt know the buns jiggle too 😂

Video was very helpful, particularly on how to deal with the yellow attacks. Ive played countless souls games in the past but cant seem to nail down the parry timing.
The bit that throws me off the most is the delayed frames before the parry window comes up which drastically changes for each enemy based on their attack speed.
Guess ill just keep practising in the training hall haha.
Every boss/enemy will be different end of the day - But having the basics nailed down is the most important part!
That alpha or whatever in the oil field... that was a couple hours of intense frustration, lol. I don't know why, but the yellow ones were so much trouble for me.
The Oil field alpha has a BUNCH of annoying yellow attacks for sure
In that phase I get most frustration and just double dodge :D
That was a nerve-racking fight, I managed to get him in 3 attempts but used a WB pump at half his health.

One thing i like to add and im not entirely sure if u mentioned it in the video and i just didnt catch it, but we all know theres guard and perfect parry, i dont think the game mentions this and i want to add that the game has a 3rd part of the blocking combat that i personally like to call it “Imperfect Parry”
When u press ur L1 or LB button to parry, and u miss the window but not to the point it goes to the guard state (or damaged if u just tapped the button) theres an “Imperfect Parry” window, what this does is you still get the parry but difference is it does not damage the balance meter of the opponent you fight.
In case u wanna know how the sound indicator is, it basically almost sounds like u got the perfect parry sound but its slightly quieter, but not as quiet as the metal ding sound as guard. You take no damage but the balance meter on the opponent is unaffected

I keep fucking using the L1+O skill every time I want to dodge and use my Blue counter my character keeps using the freaking L1 skill I've been trying to train myself not to be holding L1 anymore but for some reason I waited until the 2nd Alpha to buy this skill and now I regret it 100% I'm dying 5 times more now any tips?

active automatic lock on i boss fights, the parry and dodge can be very clunky at this. I started a new game because i got stuck at a boss fight near the end. This game is hard even on story mode
Animation cancel my ass, you can’t cancel while in the middle of an attack combo AT ALL. And that’s the most frustrating thing with combat in this game, if an enemy is about to attack you can’t do anything other than stand still otherwise you won’t be able to block that attack the enemy is about the use.
Once you unlock burst skill the combat becomes just a spectacle. Better combat than ff16

Burst skills? And I absolutely adore ff16. But I'd have to agree, the combat is leagues better than ff16
@@reeverfalls2069 yep you will unlock another set of skill 4 like the beta and 4 to chain up after perfect parry/dodge, you will also get a kind of devil trigger. At full potential you have just so many option it's amazing
Seeing that thumbnail of that outfit makes me realize just how much this game got censored in that patch. I’m so glad I took the plunge and deleted my file and started over. Hard R, baby!!!
