- In this video I'll be reviewing the Bitmap Brothers collection 1 for the Evercade. All 5 games ranked in order. Enjoy!
All EVERCADE footage captured on the EVERCADE VS. - Hry
Greetings from Germany! Thank you for your review. I was born 1981 and I remember playing Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe on an Amiga 500 with a friend back that days. I had a Gameboy-version of it, too. On the Evercade I still enjoy playing it. Fun game. Chaos Engine is a great game, as well! Merry Christmas and all the best to you!
in Xenon 2 you can turn on the music in the options. weird its not on by default. It's a shame this collection was done before the amiga deal went through, amiga versions would have benefitted this collection instead of console ports. Maybe it would have meant a larger collection too.
Agreed. I wasn't familiar with the Amiga but after seeing the Team 17 collection I've discovered more and it really seems like the best versions of all these games were on the Amiga and fans were pretty disappointed this is what they got.
This is an interesting cart to me. When I first saw it I basically dismissed it as garbage with too few games and almost no variety similar to the Worms collection. As I learn more however I can see why this would be appealing to many people. Speedball 2 is definitely a fun game and I could understand getting hooked on this as a kid the way I was hooked on NHL 94 on the Genesis (maybe even more so with the season mode). The Chaos Engine is also a better game than I first thought. I play it as Soldiers of Fortune on the Genesis and initially thought it was a simple run and gun but there's definitely some different strategy and it has more depth than I first thought and is a really good game. I still can't get into Xenon 2 however. I really enjoy shooters but this one doesn't cut it for me but again there seems to be a large group of people who really enjoyed it back in the day.
So I can definitely see the appeal this has for many people though I still wish they included at least a few more games. I'm also curious if it would have made any difference if they used the Amiga versions instead of the SNES/Sega versions.
Xenon 2, speedball 2 and Chaos engine are great.
Speedball 2 doesn't quite hold up as well as I remember, but I did love it as a kid
I remember buying chaos engine as a kid and trading it in soon after. The only thing I remember about it was that it was absolutely rock solid.
It's so good, definitely better with a friend though
Xenon 2 does have music, you just have to select it ON in the menu. It's OFF by default.
Haha of course, why wouldn't it be
This cartridge could have been better, like they could have at least included Xenon 1 as well to try and balance it out
Some questionable decisions compiling this collection for sure
@@thegamesapprentice yeah indeed and tbh it could have been so much better
Great reviews, however please fire your writing team who came up with ‘too much speedball spoils the broth’ 😂
It took me that many takes to say I had to leave it in
What a pity.... BUT I'll annoyingly still buy it because of Chaos Engine! (Why so many Speedballs>>> Grrrr)!
I know, it'd be fine if it was a bigger collection. It's a shame it doesn't have Chaos Engine 2 on there. I don't think it's supposed to be as good but I didn't even know it existed.
They would have been better off including the black and white Game Boy version of Xenon 2. I'M NOT JOKING.
if it was amiga version great console ports sorry no
I would prefer Atari St versions
I wonder if they included the Master System version just to prove that Evercade CAN emulate the it... as there have been so few Master System versions… but that version is blatantly broken compared to the Amiga... a bizarre act of self-sabotage... these are THE WORST versions of games that are pretty bad to begin with (Xenon 2 and Speedball 1). Footnote: I guess you're not old enough to remember everyone in England going insane for Xenon 2. And yeah, the music was a huge part of the hype... it didn't have much to offer OTHER THAN the music.
Wow what a pile of crap. Imagine a Bitmap Bros. collection that doesn't have the Amiga / ST versions. What a joke. Anyone who buys this is a total mark. Megadrive versions of these games were like the bad pc. ports of the day, worse colors, worse sound - they just generally felt cheap compared to the Amiga / ST Versions. As for Speedball on the Master System - no sane human could consider that a good game it looked almost as bad as that terrible looking PS1 version.
