Have to disagree on the Alien Breed rankings. The first game allows you to get stuck, but if you save at the start of every level you should be alright. It's also easier to avoid aliens than the other titles. I found this one plenty reasonable in difficulty, whereas the other two were infuriating. Almost impossible without a teammate. In Tower Assault there is a long timed escape sequence where aliens are unavoidable and infinitely spawning, and you must waste time shooting them or get slapped to death.
"The dullest experience of my life so far"😂
I'm sure some other Evercade game has eclipsed that feat by now
One tip for everyone, if you do not see the latest installed GE proton versions when setting which proton file to be compatible with, you may need to restart the Steam Deck. This should help the most recently installed Proton files appear.
Just following this guide, proton-experimental would give an error, selecting the latest version of proton (9.something) allowed the install to install, but I couldn't log into my account. Always just said password incorrect, which it isn't as I am using the password stored on lastpass and if I launch chrome I can login fine.
Heard some people having issues due to upper case letters in their username/email
There's some fun to be had, just not much
That should be the tag line on the box
I found this was a half decent collection. Glover and Skulljagger were good fun as long as I was using save states.
Sounds like you're probably in the minority in this one, but I'm glad someone enjoyed it
This is actually the N64 version of Glover. You're right though, this cart sucks! Giving it a four out of ten is generous.
Yea someone else just mentioned. Certainly feels like it must have been made for PS1 and ported to N64. Doesn't feel like at an N64 platformer at all
Does the steam deck have to be close to the console?
No, I'm not sure if it does it via your network or over the internet, but it definitely goes via your router one way or the other.
Glover here is a PS1 version? Thought this was N64 only-I have the game on it somewhere in the closet-where it belongs.
It said on the marketing that it was the N64 version, but it popped it with that little disclaimer that all PS1 games have at the start, so I assumed it was the PS1 version. It's certainly looked and controlled like a PS1 game. I definitely don't wanna ever play it again on another console to find out for sure though
Just had a quick look at a comparison video. They both look equally awful, but you can tell them apart by the colour of the numbers in the top corner, so it is indeed the N64 version
@@thegamesapprentice It does indeed look like a PS1 game-Pixelstation 1 or Blur64, they both looked pretty bad. Evercade needs to release an analog controller though-Glover was designed for one.
@@thegamesapprentice I have the Piko 4 cart-bought it and haven't even looked at it yet. Will have to get it out and try it to see.
"What's a fidget?" - Tony Soprano. I was gonna wait until Glover was ported to other systems, so I didn't have to buy all the other garbage. Having watched some Glover gameplay... I'm good.
I read a few people calling it a hidden gem. I assumed they only owned that one game.
Maybe you need to review a good game for once. This looks like torture! 😄 How about Iron Meat when it comes out? It might help your channel too.
Haha, there are a lot of games I've reviewed on my channel that have made me question my sanity over such a big focus on evercade. It does make the decent games seem amazing though
Ufouria: I don't understand how you can ignore the distortion... the emulation stretches the image from left to right in all modes ("pixel perfect" is not pixel perfect). This doesn't just ruin the appearance of the sprites, it also impacts gameplay. How can you ignore such a blatant emulation error? Just look at the size of the border (left and right edges of the screen) compared to other NES games on the Evercade?
Didn't remotely notice it, certainly didn't impact my enjoyment of the game.
If you've ever seen the game on original hardware, the proportions of the main character are obviously wrong. czcams.com/users/shortsa1eWD8XkfO0?feature=share
Oh yea I've no doubt, but I hadn't, and I'd imagine most people would be discovering it for the first time. It's a shame when stuff like this happens but most people won't notice. Still looks and sounds really good
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Evercade actually fixed an important audio error in the original ROM, meaning that this is the first time you can REALLY play the English language version of the game… and they don't seem to boast about it ("Finally, you can play Ufouria with the music from Hebereke!")… but at the same time they also don't seem to want to admit serious errors in adaptation / emulation… ?
Interesting, yea it's weird they don't even mention that in manual, a few of the other manuals have interesting facts like that
It works but Im not able to use my mouse/pad, any advice?
This doesn’t work
Gods - I liked it until I realized that the switches aren't just one-flip switches. Sometimes you have to flip them multiple times before something happens. Or maybe you have to do something else first. I don't mind puzzles, but I want some kind of feedback that allows me to figure out what I'm doing. Just on the first level, i saw some bonus items up on top of a platform that I couldn't reach. Did I just not figure out the secret to getting them? Will I come back to that area later in the game? Magic Pockets - It seems like a good game at first, except that it has an overly complicated powerup/bonus system that nobody understands. Seriously, go grab a copy of the instructions and see if you can explain how it works.
Thanks mate! Keep them coming! Have a good one eh!
Great freaking video dude. Now lets hope shadows of Mordor runs on the deck!
Good shout, let me know how you get on, wouldn't mind playing that in the Deck
Love it bro thank you, literally going to go through your vids now to install all the stuff, youre the man 💪🏽
Cheers, appreciate it
The Ubisoft log in window comes up but I can't move the pointer or have a keyboard come up to even sign in. Forces me to restart my deck. Help!
So I've run into such a dumb situation that I don't know what to do. Maybe you can help me. I installed Gog on my steam deck I installed silent Hill 4 I got it working and then I stupidly changed the resolution settings within the game. The game crashed and now I can't open it if I uninstall it and reinstall it. Same thing I can tell because I was at 30 FPS while playing the game and now every single time it launches. I'm in 60 FPS so what I need to do is truly reset the resolution values of the game other through Gog or through the game files and I don't know how to do it Edit: fixed it
I love you!
Hope fix the loading times on the first 1 🧐 definitely They good bro. Great story and awesome voice acting 👏 Choose the bad ending..
I'm assuming all the load times will be ok, tomb raider seems pretty speedy
Love your evercade stuff. You don't like golden axe!? MUH HEART! To each their own. I may pick this cart up.
Cheers. No, You'd think I'd have fond memories of it, as it was one of two arcades I played on as a kid at my dad's squash club. It probably cost me too much money for how little progress I made
Do the shooters suffer from lag?
I've generally found all the arcade ones, ie, the purple boxes, to be pretty spot on

I guess they're using the old Nintendo trick of creating demand by restricting supply. You're not missing much
Hi, i have managed to get it to launch however I am not able to sign in as I cannot seem to find a way to get the keyboard to appear in order to input my login details. Any help would be great
Should come up with steam button + X, try it in desktop mode first
Thanks eh, great video as always. Please keep them coming
More to come!
For sure Evercade needs to release a new controller. Analog.
Preferably wireless, I'm pretty sure 50% of the Evercade Vs box is taken up by the controller wire. I've seen fairy tale giants shorter
@@thegamesapprentice Yes, wireless for sure. But no built in battery-or at least an option to use rechargeable batteries.
I’m looking forward to both but blood omen looks more my thing .
I'm a bit concerned about the camera is Soul Reaver. 3D games without a thumb stick camera don't age well, but maybe I'll be used it after 3 tomb raiders
Great tutorial man. Thank you. It worked. Subbed
Cheer bud, Thanks for the sub!
How did you enter your email and password? The keyboard opens up behind the Ubisoft Connect application for me, so I can't access it.
That's streaming lmfao
Obviously, it's not an Xbox....
Это просто пиздец
For me after i hit play my screen freezes and i get a pop up to select lqnguage. What should i do?
Rampage and Samurai Warrior (Usagi Yojimbo), were two of my favourites on the C64.
"To play any of the games you install, though, you'll need to do the same thing you did earlier, where you add that game to Steam and then force it through Proton" Is there a time stamp when you are doing this?
Other than downloading the Rockstar installer, it's the entire video
So say I had already done this for Red Dead Online back in December, and now I want to add GTA V. At 3:50 I just find GTA V's file location and replace Red Dead Online's shortcut in the Rockstar Launcher?
Yea you could just do that, might need to change to version of Proton if it doesn't work.
Don't know what kind of witchcraft this is, but it works. I did it on OLED Deck so if anyone is wondering, yes it works. It takes a little bit for controller to "connect" so just give it like 10 seconds when you're on the Gamepass homepage.
It's the best kind of witchcraft
Top 20? I'd struggle with a top 10. Evercade, as interesting and hit and miss as it is, is undoubtedly a mix of the obscure, mediocre and dismal from the world of gaming. I have around a dozen carts and my top games would be..... Mappy (Namco Museum 1 Collection). Dig Dug ( Namco Museum 1 Collection). World Really (Gaelco Arcade Collection 1). Thunder Hoop (Gaelco Arcade Collection 1). Alligator Hunt (Gaelco Arcade Collection 1). Motor Psycho (Atari Collection 1). Missile Command (Atari Collection 1). Food Fight (Atari Collection 1). Checkered Flag (Atari Lynx Collection 2). Gates Of Zendocon (Atari Lynx Collection 2). Earth Defense Force (Jaleco Collection 1). Hardcore 4 x 4 (Gremlin Collection 1). Best games are obviously opinions that differ from person to person but these above mentioned titles are games that surprised me in one way or another as to how good they displayed and were to play on a small handheld screen (Mappy, Dig Dug, Missile Command, Food Fight) and/or were games that I didn't know I was going to like (World Rally, Thunder Hoop, Gates of Zendocon, Hardcore 4 x 4). I have access to three versions of Mappy on three different devices for instance but prefer the NES version on the Evercade cart due to it playing perceivably faster and more responsive. The SNES version of Earth Defense Force, while not being a particularly great horizontal shmup, it is notably better than the arcade game it's based on which is a rare peculiarity regarding home game console ports of arcade games. There are of course many games on Evercade cartridges but the above mentioned games are standouts on their respective collections. Other different titles on Evercade carts will undoubtedly be more at home when played on a large TV screen via the Evercade VS system but I'm focusing on the original Evercade handheld experience here.
Oh yea, if you watch my cart reviews I'm definitely of the opinions that there's a lot of medicore stuff. Most carts seems to have a gem on there though, so there's more than enough carts to make a top 20
Ah. My mistake was deleting the installer from steam, that also deletes the directory GOG Galaxy is installed into. Thanks for guide, makes a lot of sense now. EDIT: By the way, if you have instability problems with GOG Galaxy, with it crashing, try disabling Steam Overlay completely in Steam Settings -> Ingame -> "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game". Injecting an overlay into it seemingly made it unstable for me as I had the FPS counter enabled, after I disabled the overlay it became stable again.
the music in Galaxy Fight is amazing.
Yea it's great. It's also the hardest AI in a fighting game I've ever played. I couldn't make it past the first guy
@@thegamesapprentice I've gotten to the second fighter, but I was playing in very easy mode.
I couldn't see anywhere to change the difficulty. Best I managed was one 1 win, and then the bit that's in the video where I lost the 3rd bout but had them on practically zero health. It was very frustrating
not a bad collection but Sunsoft have much better games that need to come to Evercade
What like?
@@thegamesapprentice , Spy Hunter , Alien Syndeome , lemmings , firepower 2000 , Panorama cotton to name a few
I'm pretty sure Sony owns lemmings, not sure that I've played any of the others
I cant find any electronic art folders
Welcome back-thought you had retired!
I have too many unused thumbnail photos, of me pointing stuff with a stupid look on my face, to retire just yet
@@thegamesapprentice Good to know!
Thanks mate! Great work as always, please keep it up!
Cheers bud, comments like this are what keeps me making more!
As far as I know Valve adjusting games so they can be launched on steamdeck. So is those games from GOG gonna have some problems running them?
Never hard code a version number. One of the few reason video tutorials are broken, but not even a written tutorial should say "install this specific version" unless it's an actual fix to a very specific problem. Just use normal proton built-in for everything. You only ever need to change any setting if something doesn't work, or to set the default proton version for other games not marked as supported, to do that, just select the latest release that doesn't have experimental or " RC" (release candidate) in the name. Those are betas/snapshots. You don't need to download GloriousEggroll's fork unless you want to play a specific game that has been patched in the GE fork but not yet made it's way into Proton official. This would only be for quite new games. Maybe it gives a smidge of performance improvement, but you will likely not notice and not worth your time.
I cant for the life of me get For Honor to work. The game runs and everything but whenever i go to play a match online it just messes something up and kicks me out again. Its so frustrating and i havent found anyone that knows a fix
Thanks a bunch!
Hey I can’t connect ubisoft if i launch game it asks to re enter the password if i type it says wrong password
Thanks! Worked like a charm! *DO NOT USE COMMANDS IN DESCRIPTION* Use the commands from his notepad. They are accurate.
Man. No R Type! And Cathedral is one of the most annoying games I've ever played!! Alwas Awakening was just a bad imitation of its inspiration!! I guess this is why you gotta take all opinions with a grain of salt
And no Duke Nukem or Earthworm Jim WTF lol 😂
Oh absolutely. If I saw a top 20 list with R-type on it I'd immediately write it off
I mean I love Earthworm Jim, but it's not a top 20 game
