The worldbuilding in Jak and Daxter is something of an enjoyable paradox. You want to know more about the world, and yet the questions are what makes the whole thing feels alive
You hit the nail on the head there, to answer those questions would be to remove the mystique that drew us in to begin with!
And we're back! This place has always been so mysterious and even kinda creepy in a weird sort of way to me. Love it dearly but there's just this feeling of...dreadful emptiness inside me whenever I'm in the Precursor Basin, idk xD
I feel you on that sense of emptiness! It's almost like Kenopsia - that eerinesss we feel in places that are empty but usually bustling with people, like hotel hallways and subways late at night etc
The basin feels like Precursors should be swarming the place so it's pretty creepy to see a lot of life that isn't their's! I feel that particularly in Forbidden Temple 👻

So glad to see a new installment in this series. They really inspire me to think creatively and to look more in depth at the worlds in my favorite games.

@@Dathansmith91 It's likely that I will - I mainly like to dig into the Precursor stuff, and there isn't a huge amount of that in the later games so I'll probably do fewer videos rather than level by level!
Like instead of doing individual videos for the Pumping Station, Dead Town etc. I'll do one big video about Haven in general, then another for the Mountain Temple, Haven Forest etc 😁
Videos like these really make me wish that we could have had more time to explore and discover this world and all its little puzzles-

You know the franchise raises a lot of questions that most of the time leave it up to the player's imagination. But there is one question, a million dollar question, a question that has bugged us all for years, a question that no seems to ask and answer: "HOW DID JAK AND DAXTER MEET EACH OTHER AND BECAME FRIENDS?!"

Your theory is well-written and succinct! Nevertheless, a question may remain: Where did the Precursors come from? They are an extant race of ottsels (i.e. hybrid offsprings of otters and weasels). My guess is that they are the result of a highly advanced species that has naturally evolved from otters and weasels. They have perfected the use of eco energy, and have used it, like you have said, to affect an evolutionary process on Jak's planet in a primordial soup to create life.
I was half-thinking of doing a video on that exact question further down the line, exploring the origins of the Precursors and musing on how they could have come to be in relation to the nature of eco and deep time, based on what we know from all the sources available! 😁
