Rachel’s version is true to the original and santanas is a pop version in a lower key. Very very different. Can’t even compare. Both amazing
I wish santanna had more songs that show her voice
Lea’s present day “Funny girl” versions are much better than this version. Saw her live on Broadway and she kills it.
Will never like Santana's arrangement, plus it is slower and a bit lower. But your point of season one to season 5 is an important one.
Santana 👑👑
Rachel has so many incredible performances! Some of my favorite solos she’s done that I would recommend are My Man, Papa, Can You Hear Me?, To Love You More, Being Good Isn’t Good Enough, O Holy Night, an Roots Before Branches. Lea is also starring in Funny Girl on Broadway right now and there are lots of live performances of her singing Don’t Rain On My Parade, you can really hear the difference between her singing it as Rachel, and her singing it as herself play Fanny.
We all have our favorites and Rachel will always be mine, look at Rachel’s performance, Season 1 and Santana on Seasons Five,, look at their ages from both of these seasons, Santana definitely nailed her performance and actually changed it a little where Rachel did true to Barbra Streisand! I still think Rachel has the best voice
“ I don’t know how Rachael would do it now” she’s killing it on Broadway 8 times a week
I love Santanas arrangement better.
so Santana was auditioning for Rachel’s understudy (Rachel already had the lead role) loooolll there was a whole load of Santana/Rachel drama in the show!
This was my request! Thanks so much. My girl crush on Santana skyrocketed during this performance. Rachel shines with anything Broadway. Santana's version was more pop, which works for her.
I think Lea has a stellar broadway voice.
Santana ❤
This was one song in the first competition they had in season 1 if I'm not mistaken and Mr Schue couldn't be there and she had to improvise a song "on the fly" because their songs were stolen by other competitors and in the show this was supposed to be her moment to show her talents. Santana's version was on season 5 in an episode called Frenemies, so I think that's enough of an explanation. You're one of the first reactors to notice the parallel on both performances, staging /walk. Both are amazing scenes even when I'm not a fan of theater songs and well, I'm also biased towards Santana.
Rachel owns this song.
You should check out them singing "Gloria" with Adam Lambert from season five. I preferred Santana, but that's me, I like a more soulful sound.
The glee club was in a commercial which they sang “jump” and got free mattress’s and it was against the glee club rules and Mr.Shue slept on one so he wasn’t allowed to be at the competition with his team
basically Santana wasn't into broadway until Rachel got the first role into a big broadway show and started to get big headed bc of it. Santana became a bit jealous of Rachel actually doing something of her life/career when she didn't.. she decided to humble her (i guess you could say it like that?) and decided to auditioned to be her understudy, by doing this song, with the same intro and mimics, bc this is kind of Rachel's song throughout the show... the sad part is that at this point they were kinda friends and it ruined their relationship.. but i guess it showed that even with becoming a star, Rachel still had the same insecurities she had in high school. and that despite Santana becoming friend with Rachel, she still had that same defense mechanism of being mean everytime she feels insecure/threatened.. it really showed the worst part of them both, and that they didn't grow up one bit since they left high school hahaha
Fully Santana’s version all the way!
I loooove naya's version. But you mention it seemed like Rachel berry was waiting her whole life for that moment? SHE WAS. And as much as i love Santana’s version, that inspo was ALL Rachel berry insufferable ass.
