Cory and Naya were as close as brother and sister. The fact that she was missing for 5 days and was found on the 7th anniversary of Cory's death, while their fellow castmates were at the lake was like he brought her home.

I remember watching this episode live when it first aired and crying the entire time. All performances were beautifully tragic. But out of all of them, I think that Lea's was the most painful bc she and Corey were dating irl 😢
I was able to keep it together until Lea's performance at the end.
I was dehydrated by the end of the episode from crying so much
It was so horrible. I watched crying the whole way through. I was such a mess

The scene where Finns mom breaks down when packing his things in this episode just breaks me every time. I can’t imagine what Cory’s parents must’ve felt ♥️
Naya's performance of "If I Die Young" is so haunting after everything that has happend...
Mercedes, Santana, and Rachel's performance had me bawling.
Santana's performance has always broken my heart. I sob whenever I hear that song because I remember all of the people I have lost who were at a young age.
People can think what they want about Lea (Rachel) but her going on that show and singing that song to the person she was in love with was beyond words.
IRL, Chord (Sam) wrote and sang a song titled "Hold on" about losing Cory. It is the only song by any of these particular cast members to go platinum.
Hold on wasn’t written for Cory, Chord had a friend who passed away before Cory. He did dedicate the song to him when he performed at a concert
i don't think it was written specifically for cory but i do know he's like dedicated it to him before when performing it. He has stated part of his inspiration when writing it was dealing with a loss of a relationship in his life and was going through a hard time.
Alll the actors were genuinely heartbroken and the sadness and tears were real.

Yes Lea and Corey were dating IRL. I never watched the episode cuz I just couldn’t do it. I did watch the songs though and cried. My only complaint was that Kurt didn’t get his own song to sing, I mean he was literally his family.
Seasons of Love is from RENT, my favorite musical.
He didn't sing a song, but he narrated a lot of the episode and sort of formed the emotional backbone to it.
According to cast, they asked if they wanted to sing or not.
Santana’s song is heartbreaking knowing that Naya who played Santana died years ago.
So damn hard listening to Naya sing that song when in just a few short years she too would be gone ❤❤
I went to see Lea and Darren Criss on the LMDC tour in glasgow and they sang make you feel my love last and did it without microphones, just a guitar and their voices and Lea spoke about how that song genuinely was one her and Cory used to sing together all the time so she knew that’s how she had to honour him in this episode😭
I saw the news break that Corey's body was found when I was at the gym that morning, on one of the TV's across the room. I was in complete shock. I think it was the first show I was watching where an actor had passed and couldn't stop thinking about how they would go on. Or if they would go on. Quite unreal.

This is the first time I'm watching these performances since it aired. This episode aired the same week I lost my Dad....in between his passing and the funeral. 😭

The scene with Finn’s mom just completely broke me
The Santana "breakdown" was scripted, but I always heard it was supposed to happen at the very end of the song or right after she finished it. Naya just was not able to hold on until the scheduled moment. That appears to be what happened to me because a few of the other people had a slightly (genuine) surprised face for a couple seconds.
If you listen to the backing track you can hear the other Glee members singing, but none of their lips are moving. So definitely happened out of time. It is heartbreaking. Especially the way Naya seems to avoid eye contact if she can and looks at the floor so much.
The fact that they were engaged irl and also the clip of carol😢
I can’t get through this episode one time without crying. Was a fan from the First day the show aired and I’m still a fan. I am one of the biggest Gleeks you will ever meet at nearly 47 years old . and at 7 AM in the morning I am laying in bed crying over this. I’m crying most importantly because Cory lost his life. Also cried over the character because glee was never fully the same again. I really do think he was the heart of the show . But I also cry for the grief that the cast felt because they were all so close and you can just tell they were not acting with those emotions,they didn’t have to act
It is even worse when on the anniversary of his death, the cast were at the lake as Naya was found. Their feeling of loss on that day must have been excruciating.
@@BlaiddDrwg2009 the loss of naya had to be painful enough . Heck the search itself before they even knew had to be hard enough. But I agree with you regarding the anniversary They say it was almost as if he brought her home. Obviously, that was not the outcome they were hoping for but it was almost like they were reunited .Oh my God how heartbreaking that was. They say they had a special bond that they were great friends and I guess if there’s any comfort in anything from this, I guess it would be that they were together. Just so incredibly sad😢
Mark Salling, who played Puck, has also passed away.
I don't remember why Quinn wasn't there, but Brittney wasn't because Heather was pregnant (she had been absent for several episodes at this point, I believe). And obviously, Rachel comes in later.
I heard somewhere it's claimed Dianna wasn't asked back for that episode I don't know how true that is though. I mean she wasn't in the show as much anymore by this point but she should have been here for this for sure.
I think Quinn was off filming a movie somewhere. Not too sure.
Rachel's parts were the 1st bits to film then she left and the rest filmed the rest of the episode. It's in a interview somewhere

I cried so much the first time I saw this episode. I’ve had to avoid it when rewatching. They’re pain is so real.

Watching this show and getting so invested this episode will make you cry. I remember watching it for the first time and cried so much. And now realizing that 3 of them are now dead is still so wild to me
Still heartbreaking 💔 it was very hard for these actors, because they were all so close...the tears were real.
I remember following them all on Twitter and watching the guys especially go back and forth and getting an idea of how close they were… When he died it was so surreal.
I can't help noticing all the souls who are no longer with us. This show was alot for alot of people. People like to shit on it but it was groundbreaking for its time representation wise. And yet so many of them were fighting their own battles. 😢
If you want to see the other performance they dedicated to corey outside of this episode, check out the season 5 nationals performance. They sing more than a feeling, america, and i still haven't found what i'm looking for. I am pretty sure they chose them, because they were his favorite songs.
That is why. For some reason I can't watch that episode. I cry everytime at this one too, but when I hear his mom say, "They were his favorite songs", it's too much.
Have seen glee from the very first episode this episode I just couldn't stop crying though it even to this day I can't warch this episode without crying

The part Mercedes sang in the 1st song was actually Finn's part that they had originally recorded and never put in the show . I think that's why Kurt looked at her .

I still remember the day Cory died. I cried the whole day and I have never cried over a celebrity that much before.
Even after all this time, I can’t get thru that without bawling. That was the last episode I watched if that show. RIP Corey. RIP Naya.
The biggest impact for me, of the songs, was Naya singing "If i Die Young".
Naya's song still hurts but more because of how she died 😔 💔

Rachel is the saddest because the one who plays her and the guy who played Finn were dating in real life when he died
This episode gave me so much comfort. I had no one in my life (at the time, my brother later became a fan after the show ended) who could share my grief. Watching those who knew and loved him grieve with each other it felt like I was included in their sorrow, which I suppose was part of the reason they did the episode. The musical performances were amazing and heartbreaking but three scenes stand out for me - Puck’s grief in the locker room, Will at the end finally grieving, and Romy Rosemont, Mike O’Malley, and Chris Colfer gave, to me, the best performances of the entire episode. They were the family left weeping inconsolably, and Romy made me feel as if she truly had lost her baby.
He was engaged to Lea Michele and died a few weeks before their wedding. I remember when it all happened and I saw a picture of her crying over his coffin and I sobbed

I find this episode so hard to watch. It's too real. I'm not watching the characters mourn a character, I'm watching the cast mourn family.
I remember when this episode came out. My mother and sister who had never watched the show because they hated musicals wanted me to tell them when the episode came it so they could watch it with me. I was a bawling MESS the whole time and i could tell they were confused why i was so upset. People who dont watch the show dont know how much it really helps its audience. Especially the LGBT audience.
That was one of the hardest episodes to watch. I cried all the way through it.
Thanks for doing all at once, it was hard to watch when it aired and is still hard to watch it now, Rachel and Finn were a couple in real life at the time of his passing
I read that they only did the scenes once. I will never forget the night. I read cory died. This and still is. My favorite show. I can watch episodes over and over. Which is rare for me.

It's haunting.
I remember watching this episode when it aired and have long regarded the Quarterback to be one of Glee's best. But in the years that have followed, and becoming a grown up myself I now question the production teams decision to bring them all together, so soon after it happened. Filming took place only 5 weeks after Cory's death, and the season 5 cast were filming other episodes at the same time. Throughout the episode you can see how hard it was for the adult actors, and the impact it will have had on the younger cast, many of whom were still teenagers will have been significant. Forcing people to confront their grief, on camera, and in an environment full of memories of their deceased castmate and friend is incredibly unwise for people's mental health. The production team have spoken about how hard it was for the crew to film the episode too.
It's so hard, because it features some brilliant performances, but somehow also feels quite invasive of their grief.
I think I read that Ryan Murphy said that if he could go back that he would’ve just ended the show.

I think anyone who loves Glee can’t watch this episode without crying. I don’t understand how they got through the first 2 episodes of season 5. So so hard to watch the pain. I love these songs. I watched the whole episode when it came out and only recently was I able to watch the episode again. The part with Burt and Carol and Kurt is the most painful part of the episode I think.
Ok I see that I commented 6 months ago, but this video showed up on my main page. And just like then, I’m a mess now. They all make me cry, but I just got done with Naya singing If I Die Young, and that hit me really hard . Just finished with Rachel/Lea and it’s just all so heartbreaking. I know Lea is married with a baby , and she’s happy, but I still can’t help that my mind goes back to Finchel/Monchele. Just like Finn said at Mr Shue’s failed wedding “ we’re endgame “, i always felt that about them. both the characters, and the real life couple they were. (No not trying to be disrespectful of her current marriage/family. It’s just the memories flood back when I see anything glee related. Especially this)
I started crying when the episode started and didn't stop even after it went off. I cried when the news broke about Cory's passing. I stopped watching the show after this. Cory's on screen mom saying What do you do when you don't get to be a parent anymore broke me. The one that played Puck also passed away, he committed suicide

The biggests scenes in this episode is not the performances. The scene where Finns mom is putting away his things. The scene with coach Beiste where the actor clearly is having trouble keeping it together... those are the things I remember the most from this episode. I have never rewatched it. I just can´t.
Not only did Santana (Naya Rivera) die in real life, but so did Puck (Mark Salling). But to hear Naya sing "If I Die Young"....whew!😢
i cried in the first minute the music started. i just lost a best friend due to getting hit by a car and its just getting close to the one year mark since i lost my grandpa. i was a mess in the i stand by you cover by mercedes
I remember this episode like it was yesterday it was incredibly heartbreaking because he died in real life and not just a character on a show you should watch the series to see why everyone was in love with Finn he was more than a friend family and I have bawled my eyes out again because naya and puckerman has also passed away now I remember after the news of his passing glee went off the air for weeks. We wasn’t sure what they were going to. Do. They knew they had to address it had to refilm some of the episodes
that already filmed. And there are some plot holes they never addressed, but I guess it didn’t feel right after Cory’s death. I knew in 2013 did this episode is going to be emotional my now fiancé is always like why do you do this to yourself watch stuff that’ll make you cry your eyes out I have no idea why I’m like this

The lyrics of the song naya is singing and knowing what happened to her is just to much and the end of the video was not even scripted which makes it even more difficult to watch 💔

@@ginakearney4146 Who in the cast has said it wasn't scripted? Why would the person from FOX lie and say it was scripted? Kalan confirmed it was scripted a day or two later. People so want to believe it even though there is no evidence to prove it. It was a fan theory or as I said, glee lore. Even the filming shows it was how directed, they had different camera angles and that is done at separate times. They would have had to do it at least twice to get what we saw on screen.

I don't even like Glee. I quit watching long before this, but always meant to go watch this episode. First performance and I am sobbing. You can just feel their grief. The show has nothing to do with it.

this episode was truly so hard to watch and it still is cause it truly isn't acting by anyone. This summer it's been 10 years since Cory died which is so crazy and sad and he just died way too young. The actor of sam (chord overstreet) even dedicated a original song of his that he wrote to Cory and performed it at like a concert in his honor shortly after Cory died. They were really close in real life too 💔

I skip this episode almost everytime I rewatch the series cuz it’s just to raw.
This whole episode had me in tears especially now after losing my God mom and older cousin ❤️🩹🎶🥺 it’s chilling and sad that the character Santana sings if I die young and then she actually did die saving her son couple years later and Lea Micheles performance knowing that was her actual fiancée man Santana, Rachel, and Mercedes performances always get me though
