They like to drag the show through the last 6 years eyes you mean. Long time watchers know to take the stereotypes as exaggerations and the writing (showrunner/executive producer) Ryan Murphy’s first show in all his control. Yes he did Nip/Tuck but he wasn’t showrunner he was EP he was in a room of writers to see how the did things.

I loved Glee when it was on. I've watched it all through several times. This show made me both laugh and cry in almost every episode. It's a comedy drama, or at least it was in the beginning and the characters where highly exaggerated stereotypes, buy I love music and musicals, and I absolutely loved Cory Monteith, her plays Finn - the male lead. When he died I cried for days. It was the first time in my 40+ year life that I cried when someone I didn't know died. The second time was when Naya Rivera, who played Santana, died. I still don't know why this show moved me as much as it did, I just know that I'll be here if you do more reactions.

@@BradSteele If you don't know this, Naya just died recently and it was saving her child. They were on a lake together and her child fell into the water and she jumped in to save it and didn't have the strength to climb back in and drowned. She died for her child, that really hit hard.
There are a lot of people who worked on Glee, that are now dead. Some like to call it the "Glee curse"
Cory died of a drug overdose while the show was still going on, (btw you should watch their tribute episode S5, E3 The Quarterback, it has so many great and emotional covers)

GLEE10years. A you tube channel did a re-edited version of Naya's. " if I Die Young". With inserted clips of Cory. It made me very emotional. ( I think Naya's Rain onMy Parade is really good ) it's ironic. Naya did West Side Story on Glee but passed away so not even in contention, then Lea not initially being cast as Funny Girl. Both were really good. Their Hard Days Night is Rocking.

Glee is an interesting case... there are some absolutely spectacular vocal performances and some absolutely cringey storylines, but overall it's a very fun show for music lovers. They had some very interesting cameo appearances and guest stars over the run of the show (like Whoopi there), plus 2Cellos did their "Smooth Criminal" cover on Glee, which is how I heard of them. There are a ton of great songs to react to, or entire episodes may be fun to help make sense of what's happening outside of the singing in these clips.
Some of my favorites are the Rumor Has It/Someone Like You mashup from season 3 episode 6, Cough Syrup from season 3 episode 14, and Valerie from season 2 episode 9. You're going to get a LOT of requests if you start doing Glee songs. :D

@@BradSteele Definitely the Smooth Criminal one and also Don't rain on my Parade (both versions, the one by Lea Michelle and the one by Naya Rivera) and basically every performance by Amber Riley, especially Try a little Tenderness and I will always love you and Ain't no Way. Amber/Mercedes is THE best, while Lea/Rachel is of course amazing, her character is too annoying, and Naya/Santana also has such an amazing voice. Oh and not to forget Darren Criss/Blaine, maybe try All of me, Somewhere only we know and Raise your Glass. Warbler performances in general are always very fun to watch and amazing and from the competitions, there are also really great songs from the competing show choirs like Vocal Adrenaline. You also need to watch at least one song from "Unique", maybe Starships, idk, I just googled some of the best performances and said those I actually remember xD

The singer you liked in the first song doing the vocal runs is Amber Riley - after Glee ended she went on to play Effie in the West End production of Dreamgirls and won an Olivier award (think British Tony award) for Best Actress in a musical. The singer of the second song is Lea Michele - she starred in Spring Awakening on Broadway along with many other roles in musicals.
There were a lot of talented people working on Glee, and you should check out more songs from the show. In fact, the next song after It's All Coming Back to Me in that episode is Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I love it! Any song by Naya Rivera is fantastic because she was a singer with a versatile voice who could adapt to many styles and sound great. And of course I say the same thing about Darren Criss... Just check lots of them out!

First, agree to disagree. Opinions are not facts must force someone into agreement. I merely stated my opinion. Yours is yours.
In many show circuits & glee clubs there's that perennial favorite. Lea was Murphy's. It showed the direction of the season/episodes, the song choices, being the lead in the competitions etc. The last 2 seasons rarely did the glee club members get songs. Egos could already have formed, used to being the sole attention can bully w/o even realizing it. Still could be great singer, just not nice person.
As a child actress on Broadway, appearing in productions of Les Misérables (1995-1996), Ragtime (1997-1999), Fiddler on the Roof (2004-2005), and Spring Awakening (2006-2008). Those were before Glee, Funny Girl is only one after & it's more a collaboration than set in Broadway.
She did do an album & it was reasonably successful. Problem is if go out of the light many tend to forget. She really didn't tour or do any follow-up. She did get married & have a child.

They casted so many incredibly talented people and a few that they didn’t even know how talented they were until later into the first season. They covered over 700 songs and even did some originals, as well. They also discussed many subjects that were controversial for the times (some still even now). Some topics they covered well and some they did a terrible job on, but it still got conversations started.

Where I'm from SW PA, yeah there were those aspiring very good singers in choir. 'We' did throughout the year musicals at the local community & summer stock theaters. There were highly competitive vocal competitions throughout the year @ state & school/county levels of choirs; large, glee size & stage bands w/ singers. Some graduated & went onto Broadway, while some went on cruise ships & Broadway travel circuits, even a few went onto TV (soap operas/episodic) & movies (Sheila Kelly to name one).
Many were also in band. Get on the bus with this combo get the Broadway musical classics sung there & back until went to sleep (still can't get Oklahoma out of brain).
    Brainchild of Ryan Murphy.
    Popular (1999-2001), Nip/Tuck (2003-2010), Glee (2009-2015), American Horror Story (2011-present), Scream Queens (2015-2016), American Crime Story (2016-present), Pose (2018-2021), 9-1-1 (2018-present), The Politician (2019-present), 9-1-1: Lone Star (2020-present), Ratched (2020-present), and American Horror Stories (2021-present).
So, this show was unique. It was a re-envisioned version of the TV syndicated 'Fame' show. Only it was more focused on singing than instruments/dance. It also wasn't set in NYC but a 'typical' high school set in OH that had competitive choir/glee circuits. Choir vs. Glee. A Glee club is a choir. Can be seen more in colleges but high schools too. As stated, it's more a club in some schools. Some require auditioning to get a spot, while general choirs may not. Definition for many competitions not necessarily all schools, is it's smaller in size. It can have instruments added but so can traditional choirs.
Besides competitions, there used to be public performances (used to be malls), student assemblies, joint performances w/ other schools at each other's schools. Christmas, homecoming events, other holiday performances, graduation, & possibly raise $$ to travel to Europe to perform with other international groups in festivals during the summer. While in school, got to travel to the state capital, Disney World & DC.
I didn't know about Glee until the 2nd season. My family didn't have the plan for Fox. It was only until later realized could watch it on the network website a few days after an episode aired. That's when started to watch online.
As read comments, you'll realize that many of these 'teenage' kids were adults who performed on Broadway (Lea Michelle, Mathew Morrison, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jayma Mays, Becca Tobin & Jonathan Grof, Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin & Nolan Gerard Funk). Others came from music type schools like Fame (Chris Colfer & Darren Criss), others were professional singers (Kevin McHale was a member of a boys band NLT; Amber Riley was a contestant on American Idol; Naya Rivera, Diana Argon & Chord Overstreet; ).
Glee producers had a 'Glee Project' to compete to be a member of the cast on the show (Alex Newell, Damian McGinty, Blake Jenner & Samuel Larsen). The exceptions were Cory Monteith & Heather Morris. He was not considered a singer but decided to audition & was chosen because he stood out. Heather had gone on to choreograph the 'Single Ladies' & got added to the cast as an extra. Then became more pronounced as showed could do comedy.
If ever watch any of the episodes, they covered themes either the songs were somehow connected or did a particular groups/singers even did mashups of songs (Whitney Houston, Adele, Tina Turner etc). Running joke that the musicians were invisible & happened to appear for them to accompany. Didn't speak to or acknowledge these 'invisible' bands.
They also had well-known Broadway singers come on to perform periodically, and famous actors/actresses that could 'sang'. During off season, they used to tour throughout the country. I don't know your schedule but can watch some episodes or take a cue & see the most popular iTunes songs that charted & watch the video for them. I have a few on my playlist. Everyone who's listened may have some mutual but it's a vast collection of songs by the cast many over the years have favorites.
[Negative criticism: Murphy had 'favorites' meaning Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer & Darren Criss were predominantly featured getting a lot of scenes & songs. Recently came out when one of the last generation of glee members talked about how mean & spoiled Michelle was on the set. The original cast members didn't defend her.
Was Lea the best singer? I question what makes her better? (range? flexibility?) She sang a lot of songs but it didn't mean she was the better singer. Does she standout? Again debatable as she sings in the style of the original artist emulating them. Compared to Naya & Amber do they all standout? Yeah. However, minute they start singing I can tell who Amber & Naya are as they have individualistic styles. Lea blends well but not uniquely.
Naya did a version of Don't Rain on My Parade that I thought was better than Lea. Amber between the two has a powerful belt as well even higher than her at times. Compared to Idina Menzel who played her mother, she could stand next to her & sounds like her, but Idina pulls out those notes & Lea can't compare. She's a great impersonator, but not someone one can recognize her voice. Aretha, Streisand, Patti, Whitney, Celine all distinctive voices but when someone tries to sound like them, their voice isn't distinctive. Hope that makes sense.
Idina has more awards, recognized musicals & famous movie under her belt. Interesting Grof also got acclimates starring in Frozen. (Wonder if they ever contacted her for the role?)
Amber has received awards for her Broadway & East End London performances. Lea did well on Glee copying great musical moments. Her singing career hasn't really taken off since Glee. Her acting unfortunately many are stuck on her being Rachel Berry. This is my opinion & only mine as to why.]
There are a few I like over others, could be how the scene setup generated a mood, how I liked the version or simply love the song. One of the first songs I really liked was Morrison duet w/ guest Neil Patrick Harris on 'Dream On'. Cory I liked, but honestly he did so many duos with Lea I grew tired of the favoritism.
Amber Riley it seemed anything she did (Bust Your Windows, And I'm telling you, Ain't No Way. Amber & Chord Overstreet (Human Nature). Also anything w/ Amber/Naya: (River Deep/Mountain High, Rumour Has It/Someone Like You, Doo Wop (that thing)) . Naya: Valerie, If I Die Young, Don't Rain On My Parade. Grant Gustin/Naya duet Smooth Criminal. One later cast member Alex Newell did a version of Boogie Shoes I love. Darren Criss duet w/ Matt Boomer Somebody That I Used To Know.

And that’s why Lea got the part as Elphaba in Wicked in her run. Even know a lot of people hate working with her and still do on Broadway hint she hasn’t headlined in too many for a couple years first focusing on her grief and then new kid and family.

If you love music it was a fun show, they did at least 2 to 3 covers a show, and had A lot of talent on it, Idina Menzel, Leah Michelle, Jonothan Groff, Kristin Chenoweth, Amber Riley, and many more. A couple songs they did that I really enjoyed was Safety Dance, and Pure Imagination. Some of the stories were kind of vanilla, but some were really heartbreaking.

You should check out Team StarKid here on CZcams. Darren Criss (who plays Blaine on Glee) portrays Harry Potter in their Harry Potter Musical trilogy. They are known for their parodies of things like Star Wars, Batman, Disney, and much more. They have the best mix of humor, social commentary, good acting, and great music. May be worth a look and could result in good reaction videos.

People can mock whatever they want about this show. But it was groundbreaking for the time. It made kids like me see queer representation for the first time and see all kinds of different struggles on tv. How even teens can have it rough, and how everyone needs love and support. The show isn’t perfect, and society has moved beyond it and there’s way better rep nowadays. But it will never take away how essential it was back then.

You should check out the late Naya Rivera, who played Santana on Glee. She was wonderful and deserves all the accolades and celebration possible. Her most popular cover/performance is “Valerie”, but she did an amazing “Don’t Rain on My Parade” as well (and check out Lea Michele’s version too - the singer in this second video who played Rachel!) My personal favorites of Naya’s are “Nutbush City Limits” and her duet with Amber Riley (the main singer of this first video, who played Mercedes) of “River Deep, Mountain High”.

Yes, they did many current events. I enjoyed most of their songs for the sheer talent, but the show itself was far too politically progressive to the point of being a self parody. Gotta love their singing though.
