I have the 5" Flat Drain Stopper in the shower. Almost every day, I block the drain and let the water fill up an inch or 2 in the shower while I shower. Then I release it, causing gallons and gallons of water to flush down the drain keeping the trap and pipe clean of debris.

That shower pan is one of the cheap brittle plastic types NG. The better ones have a ridged piece of foam in the base so no mortar float is needed like the good old days. My Corgi gets dingle berries also... Good Job!

As soon as I saw the title, I thought oh God, you’re gonna have to cut the ceiling to fix that probably. Mrs. shitty pants. I thought I was gonna die laughing.

We bought a new construction home a little over a year ago. There is so much flex in our shower. It actually cracked. My builder told me he said it was recommended by the manufacturer to install mortar underneath, but technically not required. So they don’t to cut cost. So frustrating. Thank you for posting this!

We had a similar issue in our upstairs shower. Some idiot did a half-ass Job installing the shower pan during a remodel. Had to re-do the whole shower and put the mortar in the pan.

I have a boiler tech coming in tomorrow. Got no hot water. Thankfully its spring so it's not extremely important. But went to the boiler and looked at the tridicator and said it was 100 degrees. So I went to the control and it was not tripped out. So I held the reset button for 3 seconds and it fired up. Heated up until my high limit which is 180 and shut off.
But 6 hours later I go look at the tridicator again and it was at 140 degrees. My low limit is set to 160. But this time on the control I saw a solid Yellow LED light. But I tried the reset button again and it only turned on the blower fan. No fire this time and then it shut it self off on safety. So I just turned the power off to the boiler and called a technician. But from what I read that yellow LED means bad CAD Cell. But I hope its an easy fix. The control I have is called ICM 1503. Sounds like a generic company, but I don't know.

Heating season officially over, back to basics before cooling season goes full swing.
Myself had stall shower stopage in my house, ran cable, wife blamed daughter's long hair, said: "look at your grey roots on hair ball, stop blaming our kid".

  • @craigharding475

Steve, you could write a book about how to get an entire toolbox worth of tools from an ordinary pliers and screwdriver!
PS: That shower floor install should be condemned. I see TV commercials for these companies that advertise one-day installation on a new shower setup. All cheap plastic. My parents got one and they covered-up the damned window over the tub! Major moisture problems, since no ventilation and no exhaust fan.
Soap scum can congeal into disgusting globs. I have read that the vinegar can actually help septic systems since it can kill invasive ROOTS down-line.

Terrible installation on the shower pan. Bathroom looked beautiful from what we could see on video. Why they would even go with a shower pan is beyond me. But not have cost that much more to lay that tile right down on the floor! Great job is always Steve

I would tell that lady to give her installer the option to come back and redo the shower floor correctly or get his ass SUED! (or the company that hired him). She already has Steve`s video as expert testimony!

Those fiberglass bathroom fixtures are complete junk when compared to real tile and concrete. Her water volume isn't very good either which is probably why the algae is growing from debris not getting washed down the drain and hanging itself onto the parts of the drain and walls of the trap. More water flow will help her in getting the muck down the drain vs barely then staying wet most of the time in between use.
Another bright idea by the save the planet experts.
