    I love how she changes her content to cater to different Asian cuisines not just Thai. She’s definitely one of my favorite chefs on CZcams. Always precise and makes her good look so beautiful and very unique. Always enjoyed watching

    • @RiamsWorld
      @RiamsWorld Před 3 lety

      It's interesting, but I do find it a tradeoff of learning about a wider variety of cuisines vs deep expertise in that cuisine. Like, I've seen Korean cooking channels try to make Thai food, and they make me think: they may know the basics, but they're not going to know about the ideal way to do it, what brand of coconut milk to use and how to make sure it splits, or have some historical Thai recipe. I think the beauty of CZcams is you can find people who have the deep expertise for anything.
      As much as I like this video(and I appreciate Pai's expertise in working with mango and pastries and just her attention to detail), it's more inspiration for me to seek out a recipe from a cook who specializes in Hong Kong cuisine for this recipe to see if there's anything missed.
      That being said, I don't want to imply just because she's Thai that her only area of deep expertise is Thai food or that she can't apply her expertise to improve dishes outside her core knowledge, but I feel like her time is best used when she's teaching us information that's much harder to find elsewhere as in depth.

  • @ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293

    These look delicious-- perfect to bring to a summer BBQ party when everybody else has oh-so-creatively bought potato salad and coleslaw and that sort of thing. Nobody would have thought of bite size, neat little tropical desserts like this. Winner! Knowing me I'd ruin these gorgeous little parcels and make a horrible mess in the kitchen. I'll give 'em a try next spring, for sure.

    I believe there is a better (faster) way to peel mangoes. Cut them into two 'cheeks' as you say, and use a tall glass to scoop the whole flesh out. That way, you can still cube and slice them without losing much fruit. Philippine mangoes are widely famous too so I guess this technique should proceed with the fruit :)

      nattō it is smoother actually than using a knife, which removes the natural curvature of a mango.

    • @aritin5259
      @aritin5259 Před 4 lety +4

      nattō don’t worry, not forcing anyone to stick to it. Just thought it would be a good tip out there, coming from someone who deals with mangoes year round. :)

    do you know how long it takes to turn whipped cream into butter? a LONG, long time. like for you, with that little electric whisk, it would take a minimum of 10 minutes of straight whipping AFTER getting it whipped. no one really needs to worry about over-whipping cream if you want firm whipped cream -- just don't go 15 minutes past whipped!
