The news that Ellis Simms was recalled by Everton was music to every Blackpool fans ears the player that we so desperately wanted to sign in the summer, the player the board had put their biggest financial effort ever to land and get him back again but Moneybags Sunderland offered more and you just knew he was going to demolish us, probably get a hat trick in the process so thank you Everton.
But it was still a mountain to climb Sunderland bang in form 4th in the league and Blackpool 2nd off the bottom, it was New Years Day we never WIN on New Years Day but could we get something?

Sunderland Fan here. Classic game of 2 halfs we were woeful first great second so I guess in the end i'm happy with a point. Ref was woeful they should of been 1/2 yellows at most felt sorry for the sending off seemed harsh.
Thanks it just wasn't a dirty game was it? The ref we had against Sheffield United simply talked to players, calmed players down didn't give one single card and Sheff Utd were lucky not to get 1 or 2 but this little twerp? OMG
And yes a 2nd yellow and a red card for that! in what? the 93rd minute! Give us a bloody break FFS! Half the reds we have had so far have been a joke Sonny Carey at Burnley? ridiculous, Shayne Lavery for being literally assaulted and pinned to the ground after the final whistle? Being 2 of the worst injustices Dom Thompson at Sheffield United? beyond belief and today? I simply have no words it's getting harder and harder to believe it can't be bad luck and not an agenda (we are not a dirty side)
@@LeeCharlesTV Yeah I couldn't believe it when the commentor said you had 8? I think he said this season i seen way dirtier teams this season the Ref was one of them that wanted to be center of attention.

Sunderland only had 6 players in training before the game due to a sickness bug, so first half maybe that is why we were not at the races...
True. Lost Simms and Cirkin, Batth, Alese, Gooch, Pritchard, Evans, Embleton all injured.
Lucky for us then in that case and fortunate for you you were playing a team with more than you out injured 😉

I have high hopes for Blackpool to step-up again, they've made good signings so far so things can change.
Only one so far Reese we are still praying Bowler does come back on loan but nothing confirmed yet we need an experienced centre half and a quality experienced CM until that happens I'm not confident but fingers crossed you're right 🤞

They didn’t lose, but that second half was so tough to watch and Sunderland can count themselves unfortunate not to take all three points. I thought Pool were excellent for a majority of the first half, but they lost control of the game.

Yes they really could have taken all 3 but we had our chances to go 2 up and I once again find myself hating the little twerp in the middle what the heck have we done to suffer these jokers week in week out?

Yes you definitely could and we could have had 2 or 3 in the 1st half a couple of half chances 2nd too. It was just one of those games when shots and headers were over the bar or wide and the crosses just were slightly over hit or too high. Its a better point for you than for us . Win your home games and draw away and you will be there and thereabouts, we can't win our home games and if we don't start doing soon we will be relegated IMHO

Happy New Year Lee & Jane. With 20 games to play and a possible 60 points to gain I still believe that we can finish at my predicted position as of last August which is 13th position. I feel the tide will turn eventually.
I’m sure after how they played in the second half against Sheffield United and the first half against Sunderland we can start to make a difference. I honestly do believe we will be playing Championship football next season. Really we are not a bad side and don’t deserve to be in the position we are in everyone needs to be backing the team and the manager instead of giving out negative vibes. There is no future to the past we just have to keep looking forward and stay positive. Come on the Pool.

When we were in the Premier League a couple of years ago for a couple of seasons, I took great delight in the first season when we finished 10th, and our players were on the lowest wages in the league. We all know what happened in the second year! 😤

Lee I recognise myself in your anxiety about Blackpool conceding a late goal. Liked the team selection although would have preferred Dougall. If we had someone like Bridcutt in midfield that might make a big difference. Hoping to enjoy the transfer window. Not impressed by a former Blackpool manager saying we might have difficulty attracting players because of our league position.
I imagine just like me you've seen us concede late goals so often over the years Ian. I'm not sure which manager has said that but it's not rocket science really I would say its much more difficult to attract players when you're bottom of the league but hopefully we manage to get some because we simply have to strengthen or I fear the worse
The manager was Neil McDonald and given his performance as Blackpool manager I'm not happy reading his gloomy opinions even if he's right.

Was there myself today, block R. 1st half Blackpool were in control, 2nd, started to look tired and did well to keep it together, another red-card as well.
Yes we kind of survived the Alamo in the 2nd half and an unbelievable red card the first yellow coming from Sunderland being awarded a throw in when you can see clearly from a 100 yards away the Sunderland player knocked it out of play
Good point today against a very good side , poveda looks really good and good to see CJ back in, why he was dropped in the first place is beyond me , wingers on the wings must be a new concept !!!! Appleton gets stick but we have the lowest budget in that league so maybe not doing as bad as it seems ,, controversial I know but maybe Sadler should get it in the neck a bit and back him up with some new blood in the team , then and only then you can really judge weather he goes or not
He simply has to if he wants to try and keep us in this league. We are not far off we are giving teams tough games we just lack that little extra needed to finish teams off
looked like a half decent performance yesterday, looked as though we fought hard at the end there to hold onto a point at least. also sounds like some decent signings could be on the cards this week so hopefully things could start to look up again

Referees are shocking in the championship Lee & you did well to get a point out of it. Poveda did not dive in my opinion & the linesman needed new glasses for Xmas or stick his flag up his Jacksie one of the 2. A set of woeful decisions in the 1st half. You lack confidence at moment & you look fragile under the cosh but like Boro, Sunderland are on a good run of form & it's a point gained for you not 2 dropped. I agree with you about clearing your lines. The ball just keeps coming back as you end up sitting deep & don't push out when you clear it so you are getting hemmed in at times & new a decent centre half & Central midfielder would give you a bit more possession instead of the ball being a hot potato & panic setting in. Rotherham are dropping like a stone & a few teams are dropping from top half so I don't think its curtains for you just yet. At least you didn't seem to put your heads down today & battled for the point which is good against a team in 4th. You need to beat the teams around you & you will be ok if Appleton plays more positive like he did today against the poorer teams in the division. Good luck for the next game. Great video as always. Yep we definitely needed that strength in midfield in particular we simply have to start winning games if we are to have a chance of survival the next few weeks are key. We are in the bottom 3 it may be very hard to attract the quality players we need? We shall see how much the board want it.

Hi Calvin yes he definitely can. He is class but still young and a little lightweight he needs an experienced ball winning centre mid with him and that's when we have seen how good he is. Sadly we have had injuries in that position and that's why we lie 2nd bottom our midfield has Patino and Carey who are both young lads and they get bullied in this division. You have a star in the making and if anything he is gaining a lot of experience in the 'shithousery' of the Championship
A bit of sunshine in all these draws is that the teams above us are all not winning games either from rotherham to swansea in 12th they have all only won one game in the last five,if we get some new players that everyone knows we need and put a run together we could move up the table pretty quick.
I agree and to say we have played 2 teams in the top 4 and been almost as good if we do manage to strengthen in key areas we could quite easily rise up the table as you say, fingers crossed 🤞
Sunderland fan ere nice vlog. Referees are terrible in championship and league 1. We never seem 2 get a good one especially at home. Use 2 think it was because they all hate Sunderland just think it's poor referring across the board

Yes I've sat in the home end when Bolton played at Burnden Park because someone got tickets and I didn't enjoy it. Had to keep very quiet when we scored and listen to them appealing for things that weren't. It just wasn't a great experience. I'm not sure we will but I pray we do I love the Championship it's a great league even if its geared toward the clubs with the parachute payments

Referees in this league.... so many poor ones there are a lot of little dictators and to cover up their poor judgment in one way or another they dish out cards or lectures. You are a lot better than Wigan . a few seasons back a Frenchman scored a screamer against us at the SOL what happened to him .. Who else can you get as a manager.. It is a pity Critchley left you..
We have a great new owner... and yet our fans never give him any credit and he is 25 years old his father was owner of Olympic Marsailes I never hear one word of credit to Kyril but.. This is why our team is full of talented young footballers..

Yes exactly he obviously has an abundance of funds and the best way to get out of a division IMHO is to bring in players that are capable of playing at the next level. I can understand why Sunderland fans wouldn't be loving the guy he sounds great. You've stepped up from League 1 and you look very comfortable

I don’t think Blackpool played too bad against Sheffield Utd, just an unfortunate loss. And the first half of this game I thought “are they back on form. But then the second half rolls around and it’s the same old story we’ve seen all season. Blackpool looking tired, making stupid mistakes, defence almost non existent, so I suppose we can’t really expect more than a draw. But at this stage we don’t need draws, we need wins now. Ref was a joke. I think Madine pissed them off early in the game and they had it in for Blackpool from that point on.
Yes you may well be right about Madine I think you can get people on your side if you talk to them nice, have a bit of a laugh with them etc. I sometimes think that maybe we don't go out of our way to ensure the match officials 'enjoy' their visit to Bloomfield and mean everything from the moment they walk through the door should be an exceptionally nice experience from fluffy towels, to their favourite tea or snackage, a five star rated dressing room to being welcomed by every member of staff nothing being too much trouble and maybe have a little bit of fun with them, make them laugh or at least smile, good natured banter with the 4th official and on the pitch if we are not then we must be gentlemen

These things don't help I know Ben Mansford was speaking at the BST meeting how he has a real go at a few referees after the game and I know you really want to but those things will get passed around to other refs. For me you just have to learn to not explode at refs and treat them with respect even if they don't deserve it most of the time. Just my 2 cents

I don't need to think any further than the games against Sunderland during Covid and the wonder save after wonder save he made to ensure we stayed in the promotion race, the incredible save he made at the death at the Stadium of Light just a few months back, the superb save 2nd half in the video, his catch and collect in the first, the way he organises the defence, shouting at them encouraging them, his positioning etc. for me to feel he is at the moment the better keeper but yes football is all about opinions
5:17 On what planet is that not a free kick? There is absolutely no attempt to win the ball at all, and CJ has just taken a touch and played it past their defender. You can guarantee if that was Sunderland the ref would be blowing his whistle. It's borderline biased at this point. We are given so little these days it's laughable, I've honestly no idea how we've come away from the game today with more yellow cards than they have.
It was truly unbelievable and it looks even more unbelievable everytime I watch it. I would love to hear the referee explain why the heck he didn't give it?
