NFT people are the equivalent of "No taking pictures" signs at museums.
To be fair, flash photography permanently damages canvases, chemically breaks down the materials used in art and other fabrics (like in historical furniture, clothing, textiles, other artifacts), plus, much of it is on loan from other museums, who want to make sure they get it back in the same condition in which it was loaned. Additionally, thieves apparently take photos of surveillance equipment, etc. to case the museums, in order to find ways around these things to steal the artwork/objects. These are two reasons why it's banned.
Only difference being things in museums are actually worth something

The main augment i've heard for nfts is "Their gonna go up in value in a few years!"
But why would they? Who looks at these ugly ass pngs and thinks "Oh yeah, people will be flocking to this in due time"
Its just a mix of con artists, sunken cost fallacy and plain stupidity.
I imagine that if some of these scammers are even slightly cunning, they would make sales and auctions to then push the price with their own people or money, so other people see that and say "o wow, people is paying for this" and end up buying either as a bad future investment or just so elevate their ego by paying a lot of money for something, maybe both.
Eventually most will crash in value, you can’t simply buy something and resell it for more forever at one point it’s gonna get too high and nobody’s gonna want them

0:38 svg files are actually better since they are vector based. That basically means that you can blow it up to any size without a loss in quality

Just so you know at the beginning when you downloaded the NFT and it was .SVG, that’s an image file. .SVG stands for “Scalable Vector Graphic, and it’s a type of image that can be resized without loosing its quality, therefore as you resize it instead of the being able to zoom in on certain pixels, the amount of pixels the full image has will stay consistent as you resize or zoom into it.

I saw "svg" at the end of it so I think it's actually a vector graphic so it should be able to be opened on a web browser. But this does beg the question if these are literally randomised by changing the values inside the svg file (which is basically a textfile telling the pc how to draw the picture).

I genuinely wonder if people make money off NFTs or if everyone’s being mugged off
It’s like MLM scams, though slightly different. Some people make a lot of money. Others are promised they can make a lot of money too, but only if they buy the product as an investment to sell later. It’s presented as a lucrative business opportunity, but of course the product rarely gets more valuable than what these people pay for it. And anyone else dumb enough to buy the product is only doing so because they too hope to be able to sell it for more at a later point. Those making a lot of money are generally scammers. Like how a lot of people who buy into MLM scams can be in crippling debt while still swearing the MLM is a great investment and nothing is wrong, same goes with a lot of NFT buyers. Part of that is denial, part of it is still believing the lies they’ve been told and that are being reinforced by their cult-like community in the same boat as them, and part of it is not wanting to make a product you’ve invested in sound bad. No matter how bad you realise it is, you have to make it sound good if you want to get out with a profit. There’s an element of the sunken cost fallacy at play there too since most people buying NFTs are doing so as a form of gambling.
It works the same as every other pump and dump scheme pre-NFTs. Some of them profit, but most lose out on it and wont even talk about it because they feel stupid.
We do make money, just not every project is a guaranteed, then again, people who are making money aren't really sticking around for projects, if you hear someone making money, they most likely flip the nft when the hype is at it's highest, sometimes you flip a project that flops, and sometimes you flip something that does a 10x, you never know so profit is profit.
But yeah, if you're not treating it with this mentality, you will end up buying a useless nft that has no real value and only hype most of the time if you're not careful.
