One day my daughter Lily asked me to make her a 'Pamcake ' machine out of LEGO. It took 6 months but I delivered. Thank you Lily and Maia for the continuing inspiration!
Instructions for the LEGO version are here. sourceforge.net/projects/panca... - Věda a technologie
This is awesome! and the look on your little girls faces is priceless. They're adorable.
It took me a while to realize that the first pancakes were not small pancakes put carelessly close together, but rather the classic Micky mouse. I have to say, that is pretty awesome.
@XthewintermoonX Yeah. It was. Like a moving truck. You actually don't flip the truck. You let it cook till it's crispy, take it off with two spatulas, and then you fill in the void with whip cream and jam. :)
I'm working on it. If you live in New York, I'll be at the Maker Faire a the end of the month. I got version 2 coming out in the next week!
@TheNiels17 I made the music myself using my keyboard and garage band. :)
Suggestions on how to improve it are welcome.
@iced327 I didn't know I had disabled the ratings. Ratings enabled! Thanks for the thumbs up. :)
oh and the music doesn't need any improvement - it's so appropriate for the video.
Lego should market this
People never cease to amaze me
I finally found it!
@WhyReyna Thanks! Still working on the second version.
Yeah, I'm working on that. That will be pancake Bot 2.0. Requires two NXT mindstorm kits.
:)
@iced327 thanks. that was my first composition with my keyboard and garage band.
you could make a really good laser CNC out of this...
well basically you just put a high wattage laser (either one that you have gotten from a website or just an old computer) and put is on the top... pretty simple once you have gotten a good laser...i recommend blu-ray players...
Now, you just have to program the bot to flip pancakes.
i love that song you made you should put it on itunes or maybe make a longer version
Nicely done! I read your blog mentioning the option of a corkscrew feed, but I also thought maybe a peristaltic pump could allow you to carefully measure out the batter.
@bigzebes I know I know. But seriously, I tried to make the whole thing out of LEGO and my first attempt at putting batter inside a square box of bricks was an epic failure!
That's so cool!!
@ntzsw That's a great idea. I'm in the middle of moving so it will take about a month to get to it but I'll break it down for everyone. Thanks for the tip.
@bigzebes I tried. ABS tends to melt when I put it on the griddle, then I get plastic in the pancakes, the girls get sick and it just never ends. :)
Truly awesome!
Thanks Severed! Hope you enjoyed it!
:)
Wow! This is amazing! Now the next thing you should do is to get a robot spatula to flip the pancakes over! :D
This is great.
Neat idea!!
@cuttlebotify Thanks. Working on a newer version with instructions.
@XthewintermoonX Can you please tell my wife that. She wants her kitchen table back. :) thanks for the comment!
Dude, you're a god!
Thanks GG! Working on Version 2 right now with better batter control. :)
99%Lego 1%ketchup bottle that was funny.
@wizardofkozz That's a great idea. I just have to figure out how to make one out of LEGO. :) There's a couple of issues I have and those are batter discharge flow velocity (which can vary with the batter viscosity) and distance to the griddle.
thats really quite amazing....I WANA MAKE ONE
@migpics11 Well, certainly it'd be acceptable to have the LEGO blocks "holding" a nylon or silicon flipper...
Can you explain how you handle the liquid flow?
Really cool!
very nice !
@RPRANGEL Hi RPRANGEL, I made the song myself using my Yamaha Keyboard and Garageband. I call it Tantalize but I'm sure that name is already taken. I can post it for download on blog if you want.
nice music and good idea ;)
The pancakes were yummy you served at Maker faire
Right on that's pretty cool. Thanks for replying! Made it on Google news! You'll take off with it!!!!
Thanks... Some other website to it had a broken link.
thanks! Glad to see you enjoyed it. We're gonna try to raise money to get to the Maker Faire in San Mateo in California next year.
Keep up to date with us at Pancakebotdotcom as soon as we get our site rolling.
Show me the way master!
I'm working on version two which is more accurate and has better control.
Hey Mikey it's me subby from Cali I miss u guys!!! 😊
Great video and great song, it remind's me of Yann Tiersen themes... very mellow and groovy :D thumbs up
I'm giving you a comment 'thumbs up' because you disabled ratings, which I don't understand because this would have a million 'likes'. this is amazing, way to be an awesome dad AND engineer.
Cool!
Thanks!
Amigo eres un GENIO!!!!!!!!!!!
Hm, but Mindstorms aren't designed for accuracy.. :o
@yoblackops7 Thanks!
Kids and a hot plate - I smell disaster :-).
This is so less expensive then the pancake bot
+Crazy Cat Girl Actually it's not. It`s about 450 dollars worth of LEGO. :)
AND - what does the pneumatic pump do? it doesn't appear to be powering the motion - it almost seems like it's a timer? there's something attached to the gear that it's spinning that's counting out intervals or something - just curious, thanks!!
thats epic! i wish lego actuly made a tutorial of this hahahaha :)
Hi! Wear your head cream to adjust the amount of cream down by compressing the air right? thank you very much
@maplestory1000mil Working on that. Getting the flip down is just tough. :)
You wanna pass on the code, brother?
Yo Bro! It is already passed on but old! :) sourceforge.net/projects/pancakebot/ Subscribe here and I'll keep you updated!
You got the code TI?
@@MexicanViking Thanks for the link! It was very helpful!
Чувак, это офигенно!
Don't shrink your kids too!
I just saw it on Google News that's pretty awesome!
Oh and what software did you use MasterCam!?
I used AutoCAD with a lisp routine that converted the coordinates into rotations and vectors.
Spatula?
@migpics11 It would be great, and yes plz post them. And congrats! excellent video with very good music
The Russians never would have come up with this.
How do I make this myself?
Expand the link above for the link to the LEGO Instructions.
@iced327 check makermig.blogspot.com for details. In a nutshell, when the pneumatic pump turns in a clockwise fashion, it does two things, it pushes the flexible switch down which redirects the air into the air tank to allow it to compress. When the pneumatic pump turns counter clockwise, the cam (the thing attached to the gear) hits the flexible switch in the opposite direction and sends the compressed air into the ketchup bottles which pushes out the batter. And yes, it does act like a timer
Jesus...People like you need to work for NASA. Great video. What song is playing?
Pretty amazing stuff over here :) See you at the Maker Faire... I will be there as well Maker # 8981
what is the name of this song???? plz
@Nayomie1992 haha I was thinking the exact same thing!!
I disagree with you. It's not that the LEGO wasn't designed for accuracy, it's that the LEGO has different tolerances than lets say machined parts. Accuracy is a product based on your design and not necessarily of the LEGO parts themselves.
what happened to the build instructions?
Here you go Salman!
sourceforge.net/projects/pancakebot/?source=directory
+Salman Sheikh if you read in the description it is surprising what you find out
How much did it cost to build the Lego version?
It was about 500 dollars for all the parts. The rack gears cost the most and then you need a LEGO NXT set. Pneumatics are difficult to find so they were a bit expensive too.
@TheAdmjwt I don't have exact instructions but you can see how it's made at makermig.blogspot.com
Mickey Mouse?
Yep. Thanks Max and sorry for replying so late.
GENIAL VIKINGO MEXICANO
@RPRANGEL visit makermig.blogspot.com to get the music. I just uploaded it.
Thanks
