I love hiya. I really do. And I would pick it over SHMA eight times out of ten. But honestly this is a total deserved win for SHMA. The poster color ver. Is one of the best figures they’ve made in the past 6 years, and it’s going to be kept that way for a long time. Hiya is great. But SHMA just did it better.

I think SHMA needs to stop being so lazy and making stronger tail joints “cough” “cough” gvk Godzilla tail. hiya will stay somewhat cheaper and is getting better honestly with every iteration since they are newish. And hiya is more movie accurate in color and head mostly which is a huge factor. I think SHMA is still good just better for older godzillas but the true champion of all is neca old reliable

Great fight! I don't have the shma poster version, but I do have the Hiya translucent. It's awesome, and I personally prefer Hiya's representation of Legendary Goji. The bulk is great, the accuracy on point, and it's more fun to play with. I love my shma figures too, but have to be more delicate.
It's nice to have a Godzilla you can pick up and move around that stays in one piece. Out of 6 monsterarts I own there's only one that I can confidently move around without fear of anything falling (mostly always the tail) and that is tailless gvk kong
Most definitely. I never really liked SHMA's Godzilla head sculpt. It's head looks like a different Godzilla for me even if they do look really similar if you compare them both close on.
While the colors on the shm are really gorgeous, I'll still stand with hiya it's just so much better sculpt and all. I just love it. I can't agree with the outcome respectfully.

I think that a Durability category could be a good addition to Figure Fight, as a lot of the time collectors have to worry about whether their figures will break after about 5 minutes of posing them. Great video as always.
I mean if *you* hamhand something and it breaks I don't know what to tell you. I'm not chucking mine at the wall to see what happens.

I wish so badly that Bandai didn't make this version exclusive... This is EASILY the most stunning paintjob in the entire lineup, and it captures the glow like nothing else ever has.

Before it was around $90 but I wouldn't know that well.
I got mine for around 90$-120$, can't remember but it was around that range
I'm brand new to collecting so this video is super helpful. Been bingeing all the figure fights and reviews because I'm not a completionist - I want only one heat ray zilla and so I want it to be the best. SHMA poster color is a true grail for me but even though I think it's the nicer figure, those prices are ridiculous so I'm torn

It is one of their better ones to be fair, but still not worth their asking price in my opinion. The sculpt they’re using is older than some real life children at this point, which is just a sorry excuse to shell out this inaccurate sculpt every time for quick money. It’s pathetic man. No amount of paint can hide a goofy looking figure.
@@AmorphousGoob You mean any kids that are younger than five? And let's see, how long has hiya been using the same sculpt for their own godzilla? Since 2022 I believe? That's older than any kid younger than 1 years old. So....what type of analogy was that?
Keep in mind too g19 has the original 2019 goji head sculpt before they kept reusing the alternative head sculpt seen on every MV goji figure since burning godzilla. Don't say it's one of the better figures but simultaneously call it goofy. Both companies are constantly reusing the same sculpt, but the difference between tamashii and hiya is that hiya reusing their sculpts have the same quality and price across the board.
Tamashii's quality either goes up or down every time they use this sculpt but poster version g19 (which is only their 2nd time they reused the sculpt) is a good example of quality. Price aside, it's still one of the better figures out there and lives up to it's translucent name a bit better.

The way it's made with the translucent plastic.. hyia just can't beat that
The figure practically starts glowing blue by itself in the right light settings, and it looks amazing
I've had my poster g for almost 4 years now, and he still has 0 joint issues
He's very solid and holds together very well
He most definitely is not brittle (at least mine isn't)

The color scheme might. Being covered in blue entirely instead of just the parts that are supposed to be blue, might very well turn people off from buying, so in that sense, the hyia is still much more paletable.
The plastic sham uses is also much less flexible and certainly much more brittle than the more rubbery plastic of the hyia figures.

the paint is most def better on poster though
i have both poster g19 and the hyia goji, both are the same solid plastic
the shma is only breaking if you act like a dumbass and bend a joint too far - actually my hyia has more parts that fall off than my poster
the tail on hyia easily comes off, while my poster has no joint issues at all
he is 4 years old and is still in near perfect condition
he is not brittle, just lighter
if he was brittle he would have broken by now
he is way more flexible than the hyia
the only thing hyia beats him in articulation is the tail

I dunno man, getting an amazing looking figure that included a beam effect, had zero issues ,included a full on backdrop and full on poster for only 90 ish bucks was a pretty sweet deal, one of my luckiest finds

Whatever is more accessible and people are able to own. A big misconception is the SHMA was only available to those in Japan for a short while when this wasn't the case.

Regardless of the outcome, one is easier and much, much cheaper to get so buyers options are obviously skewed towards that.
I can't agree wiht you on this one since the sculpt of the s.h.monsterarts Godzilla is just awfull and ruins the figure whit it's gaps and inaccurate details and the face is just sad

Sculpt and paint should really be two separate categories. Hiya wins sculpt objectively, no room for argument there. But paint is more open to debate.
Hiya wins paint too in my opinion, the SHMA is just too inconsistent and patchy with the color transitions. That figure is incredibly overrated.
Still think the first Hiya atomic breath version is better than both of these.
Nope. Those two are the contributing factors to the look of the figure. It doesn't matter if the figure is sculpted amazingly well if it can't be appreciated (re: OG SHMA). However, the paint can make it pop exceedingly well and the two blend together amazingly (re: G-Store Shin).
Yup. A figure can have a great sculpt, but poor paintjob. Which at least gives it value as a potential custom.
Alternatively, if a figure has a cool paint job but poor/inaccurate sculpt (like this poster color SHMA) there is really no saving it from mediocrity.
Saying that the SHMA wins the category of "sculpt and paint" is incredibly misleading and far from the truth.
@@connorb237 Because it "can be a good custom" doesn't matter because 99% of the collecting community doesn't bother with them aside from liking them and scrolling on social media, and even if the sculpt isn't accurate - and that's an entirely different conversation - the details in the sculpt and quality can still be amazingly well done. There's a difference between mushy sculpt and intricately detailed. Regardless of whether or not *you* like it, stylized quirks or not, the SHMA's sculpt is amazing and it's well accepted this release does the sculpt the most justice for it. So no, it's not misleading in any capacity.
I just think its silly to not factor in sculpt accuracy for figures that are supposed to represent specific versions of characters.
You have spoken before about the accuracy of figure sculpts relative to the Showa or Heisei suits theyre supposed to represent in other reviews. I guess Im just confused why it suddenly doesnt matter here?
For higher end figures like these, most collectors will care about accuracy, and the Hiya is clearly superior on that front. And its not like the sculpt is mushy at all either.
I get that this SHMA is highly regarded, but to just dismiss the objective flaws that it has seems dishonest. Claiming the sculpt and paint superior on the SHMA in broad strokes like that is absolutely misleading to the consumers watching this video.

Also Shm isn’t bad, it’s passable and gives you better articulation which is a good trade off, but idc about that. It’s that Shm looks cooler

Hiya has the win with sculpt for several reasons as mentioned many times accuracy. Persoanlly I'm sick of yuji Sakai as it's stylised and just a reason for shm to bump up the price. Second ans connected to articulation no obnoxious gaps compared to shm.
