This whole album is very good. For some reason, English musicians love country tunes, and often do a great job with.
Don't forget that he is a musician emerging from Eric's the Mathew Street venue rthat made waves in the post Cavern era . Liverpool pre Beatles was known as the Nashville of the North such was its devotion to country music . Nice to see Elvis giving a nod of approval to all this generational thing beforehand
I never knew country music had a following in England until I watched a video about some English clubs devoted to it from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
I'm not sure how we get you to do a reaction to a song but I'd really like you to do a reaction to Nick Lowe- what's so funny about peace love and understanding, the live version with just him and an acoustic. Elvis Costello covered it but Nick Lowes version is just superb, really really special.
Cher does a pretty good version of that song as well.
This whole album is fire. Titled, “Almost Blue” had the same producer /arranger who did records for Tammy Wynette and George Jones. It’s gorgeous country music for the rest of us who appreciate beautiful music regardless of labels. It’s pure genius.

Not me! I knew how good he was the first week his first LP came out and I walked in a record store that was playing it. By the end of Side 1, I went directly to the sales clerk, asked who this was, and said “please sell it to me.”

Love your reactions, have checked you out for a while. I'm going to throw several at you that are hidden gems you should check out. Its best to seek out the original recordings for these songs to appreciate their depth. 1. Band name Garfield, song title Private affair. 2. Band name Moxy, song is Fantasy. 3. Band name Godz, song name Gotta keep a runnin. 3. Band name Budgie, song name Breadfan. 4. Band name Starz, song name Coliseum rock/Riot ( Must be played back to back). 5. Band name Armegedon, song name Silver tight rope. 6. Band name Traffic, song name Low spark of high heeled boys. 7. Band name Accept, song name Balls to the wall(The live version is a rocker). You seem to have some background in music and i know you appreciate great music so enjoy these. I look forward to your reactions to these. You may need to dig a little to find good recordings of some of these songs. One last thing, Check out a Heart song called Lighter touch to see why Ann Wilson is the undisputed queen of Rock and if you want to hear the best voice in country western listen to Charlie Pride singing Kiss an angel good morning, He is the best voice in country ever recorded. When you get through these I will send you some more obscure gems.
