TheStraightPipes You should take this rock crawling vs Tacoma TRD
Wrangler all day lol. This thing is too long. I parked next to one in my Tacoma and it just looks off
Tacoma
Rivian...or Gladiator
If I had to pick betwen the JL and the JT, I'd pick the TJ. Love my '05 :)
Nobody:
Jakub: I have a Raptor
Every review from now on. Until Yuri gets his Prowler
@@TheStraightPipes, how is it that Yuri doesn't have a non-diecast Prowler by now? Does the universe hate him?
This comment wins.
but is Yuri gonna get the Prowler Trailer?
correction "a scratched Raptor"
Yuri: I'm Yuri
Jakub: I have a raptor
*"and we're going for a drive"*
This actually made me LOLed.
I can’t believe I said that.
Yuri : “this Jeep also takes unleaded gas”
Jakub “JUST LIKE MY RAPTOR”
😂
You forgot the *_ultimate_* lifestyle car;
The Pontiac Aztec! It's pretty much a camping site with the right options.
mwmmatt1 yes but I feel like you can accidentally have an Aztec. You don’t NEED to want an Aztec
A tent on wheels!
Hello fellow miata owner 👋 is a miata a lifestyle car?
@@Bader.mobarak In my opinion, any sports car is. You are making compromises in order to have a vehicle that does specific things very well.
Ugliest fuckin vehicle ever created ! As punishment GM closed Pontiac forever lol... I cringe anytime I see an Aztek still on the road! It should be a law to destroy any of them still on the road :)
They had a hellcat engine Jeep Wrangler concept called the trailcat ( great name)
Also great video 👍🏻
Ah yeah that is a great name
Forza Horizon boi
rubicat
They offer a new pussycat engine
@Corvid Cares the grand cherokee is the trail hawk and track hawk. track hawk has the hellcat motor
I really love that they’re keeping the manual transmission going. To me that’s the bulk of the appeal.
To bad it didn't come with a 6 foot long bed.
Can't wait to see canopies put on the bed of the gladiator 😂 Going to look like a giant block
Like the 4-door hardtop ?
@@Dialysisforever much longer than a regular four door Wrangler
Kinda like a longer, better looking Jeep Commander. Anyone else remember that?
@@adamthompson4072 yup
My 2004 Land Rover Discovery II was a "lifestyle" vehicle. If you like spending your life under the hood or the car every weekend, that's a lifestyle.
Guess you should have learned to fix it then huh?
AnthonyMendezVO lol a 2004 Land Rover? Talk about a reliability nightmare. 😭
‘02 Landrover Freelander here, same thing...nothing free there at all🤢
Yup, I had one.
Yep absolute POS! New Rovers are just as bad and cost 3 times as much to Fix! Garbage Vehicles designed in India?? WTF do they know
You guys should definitely do the rubicon trail! One in the Gladiator, one in the Wrangler! Would love to see that.
just think of all the bugs in the rollback cover after driving on the highway with it down
It's okay, insect populations are plummeting in North America. Won't be a problem at all in another decade or so.
The Brown RAT - These guys we’re driving it on some sort of highway in the video with the roof “back.”
You can fully remove the soft top in about 4 minutes and just toss it in the bed.
The Brown RAT convertibles do high speeds with the top down all the time...
@@jasenrock Like in a Miata?
Give them credit for making the #Manual standard.
Because it's cheaper.
#savethemanuals
@@craig.encinitas Yes.
Automatics are better for off road, though manuals are fun.
@@RickZackExploreOffroad When given the choice, I will take the extra engagement offered by manuals every time.
Sooner or later, you’ll own Generals.
Some of the aftermarket overland packages available for the Gladiator are off the charts cool, and it really throws back to the old school military jeeps, which I kinda like.
I like that it’s branded “lifestyle.” Jeep knows what’s up. Most owners won’t go over an obstacle larger than a lane bump.
Curbs as well. Those little buggers just appear when I'm leaving Nordstroms.
I get my diesel rubicon gladiator in two weeks. 3’” coilover suspension going on at the dealer along with 39” tires. Going straight from
There across the rubicon trail, then over to Moab, on through Colorado trails.
@@mattbrew11 Well, did you get to pick up your diesel rubicon gladiator? It's been two weeks. Would love to know your thoughts. I've thought about the new diesel model.
I was never a Jeep or a truck person, but I rented a Rubicon while in Hawaii recently, and there was some a serious off-road & rock crawl road I took it on, I was insanely shocked with how effortless it climbed over everything, so now I would definitely own one of these as a 3rd car. Although the best off-roading experience I've had was with a crazy Defender in Iceland a few months back, nothing beats that thing!
Another great production. Those videos angles are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
YO, the best gladiator release video!!!! u guys rock hard.
Reply the first time because you guys mentioned the Top Gear Cool Wall!!! You guys are cool!
I've just recently started watching your videos, and one thing I've noticed that I really appreciate about your reviews--is that they're positive. Sure, most cars aren't perfect, but despite that, you find the good in the vehicle and focus on that rather than the bad. I've seen a lot of channels that are constantly negative, and it's gets annoying to watch. So, kudos to you guys! Keep up the great videos!
So, I own a wrangler and when they came out with the Gladiator I wasn’t that impressed. After watching this though, have to say it’s pretty sweet. Glad to see FCA renewing old Jeep models. Really like what’s happening to the Jeep brand since the buyout/merger. Great review!
They seem to be pretty popular. My local dealer sold their first before they even had it cleaned up and put on the lot.
That's not event close to the old full size jeep truck. This so called new jeep truck is a disgrace to jeep and the old jeep trucks. This new jeep truck looks like they took a jeep to a body shop that makes limos and just did a stretch job . For about 5k you can get your jeep stretched and it would be alot better and only 10% the cost of a new jeep truck. Google a pic of the old jeeps and you'll see my view about this .
@@DragonKnightX12 1st dont care about other truck makers 2nd that not really a jeep truck it's a stretched jeep 3rd your getting ripped off . 4th looks like shit 5th not a V8 / diesel 6 that more like a 1/4 ton want to be a truck ( hauling you bag of potatoes and 2 steaks and a 12 pack of beer vehicle 7 the stock axles are not strong enough to pull 2500 lbs at 80 mph down the highway 8 the length of the vehicle vs the width makes it unsafe. Fyi it's just a bad deal and over priced
@@theTIVANshow Congrats, you're the only person in the world who doesn't think it looks amazing.
I'm not impressed either. I am a huge jeep lover and have a wrangler but if I wanted a truck, id be going with the Tacoma
There is actually a spot to slide in a 2x6" piece of wood across the bed between the wheel wells and tailgate so the drywall won't break!
I can’t believe Yuri didn’t mention the greatest lifestyle car of all time: the Honda Element #elementgang
E-Camper for the win!
Actually it was the Aztec lol.
08 element still kicking since new. 154000 miles replaced both electric window motors, starter and wiring harness.
Jordan Putt FJ is a better lifestyle car. Both came out about the same time but FJ looks much better I think
I'm thinking of selling my FJ & then trading my element in on this.
Your camera angles are the very best in the business, hands down! Keep up the fantastic work.
Great review . I'm sold. You guy's are a great team. Very entertaining band great editing.
Still waiting on the Italdesign Aztec guys! All I can do is keep dreamin’!
Id love to see you two test that J6 concept they are considering. That's what I really want, a 2 door version of this. Glad is just too big for where I live.
That off-roading segment was awesome! I also learned glad has wider track than wrangler. I didn’t hear that in the other videos I watched from this press launch.
Love when you guys come to California and drive different roads and the canyons and off-road tests are awesome!!
I hope they make the j6 concept as i would definitely would buy that
I work at the Jeep plant, I love the way both the Wrangler and Gladiator look when I see them all as I'm leaving every night. I think I like the Gladiator just a little more but the new Wranglers are super good looking as well. I don't like hearing that there's still the loose steering issue with the Gladiators now though :/
Nice overview on this beast! Looks like you guys had fun wheelin
You guys nail it with the 360 cam shots. So good
Just putting in the 392 Hemi producing 475HP in this or the Wrangler would sell like hotcakes!
I doubt it because it would cost $120k.
One of their product engineers/designers said they thought about putting a Hemi in one. Unfortunately, he said it wouldn't pass any crash tests.
@@mg2380 the weight is the big problem
@@sunnyvalejediI see your point, but i don't think it would go double, maybe 80, still seems hi, however they would have to probably beef up other things for that engine, and you wanna have it all, it's always pricey
@@tallll70 I'm going off what a Hellcat costs, plus a fully loaded Rubicon can hit $70k.
It's super cool, but holy hell that soft top looks terrible piled up on the roof when it's open.
Yeah like what the fuck
Agree💯 looks like garbage!!
I don't like it either but the reason why they did it so the top didn't take up bed space folded down. But I imagine it can't be to hard to completely remove
Totally agree! First thing I noticed and was thinking what the hell were they thinking?
Looks like a model-T.
Great vid, cool camera work on the off road stuff.
You guys are awesome with your reviews and video angles!
I'd consider the Raptor a lifestyle truck. A sweet baja racing lifestyle!
I just pretend to be a racer on the bi-pass
Yeah cuz I've never seen a Raptor haul shit but ass.
Gladiator mojave is a thing you know
Waterproof switch gear is a win for me....btw loved this vid boys..
The offroad part was really cool, especially the way you filmed it. Can’t wait to see the some offroad action in the Raptor!
I really like this Jeep Gladiator. I used to have a 2013 Wrangler 4 door and I liked it a lot, but it was slow, especially with the manual. I never went off-roading in it so I guess I used it as a lifestyle vehicle. I got it because of the soft-top and it was a manual. Now I have a ND Miata and I would say it is a lifestyle vehicle too. The off-roading footage and camera angles are awesome, you really showed off the Gladiator's capabilities.
Just saying by the time I watched it you had 49 views and 31 likes.
You nailed this review guys👍
@@DarcyDevine Uhm no thx
Reported
So, I'm not going to read through all 514 comments, but from what I can tell, nobody has mentioned this yet:
At 5:56, Yuri said that his one buddy pointed out that if you put drywall in the bed, it'll crack from sitting on the wheel wells. That might be true, but if you use the features in the bed that you can see at 5:52, your drywall should be fine. Look on top of the wheel well. See that little indent that's about the size of a 2x4 piece of lumber? Lay said piece of lumber flat from side-to-side. Also, see the little vertical indent just behind the wheel well that's about the size of a 2x6? Stick a piece of said 2x6 in there vertically from side to side and BOOM! Instant drywall shelf. Jakub, check your Raptor. I bet your bed has similar features.
I think the Gladiator measures about 45" between the wheel wells...it sucks that they couldn't make it just 48.5" to accommodate people who haul sheet goods. It's the primary reason why I will never buy any midsize truck.
Guys, this has been and is, BY FAR, the best gladiator video I have seen -- VERY WELL DONE, and you guys come off very genuine. Thanks, very informative and definitely helpful in my Wrangler v Gladiator pickle! Take care and thanks again.
Thanks
The Gladiator has become my new dream Jeep/pickup truck 🤗❣️
Subaru Baja is a lifestyle car
Lifestyle truck* 😉
*Best vehicle of all time
Certified Cool Dude lifestyle, you mean.
It's a true UTE! And a sleeper too- does it not have the Forester XT motor?
If they build a regular cab / single cab like the J6 concept but with a V8 plus a manual transmission I’ll buy it tomorrow.
Even better if they fitted it with an Raptor like high-speed off road type suspension setup so I can do jumps in my two-seater, regular-cab, short-bed, manual, V8 Jeep truck that’s also a convertible... sounds like my perfect ride!
Best most detailed review so far, love it, great work guys! Cheers.
Like their concept last year?

Hell yeah
I'm sold on that jeep , amazing right out of the box , instantly you can go anywhere.
Love the InstaCam 360 shots! So cool.
The white one look the best
I honestly could care less about this Jeep, but you guys are entertaining, so I'll watch.
Could or couldn't? Kind of makes a difference, eh?
I honestly could care less about you, but you're a bitch, so I'll comment.
You salty Mark?
Dude props for some of your 360 camera clips. Crazy views. Crazy awesome.
I just bought a new Gladiator - stick shift with the cloth top. It's my favorite vehicle of all time. Driving with the top flipped back is amazing. It's great offroad too.
Jakub, "slow, Slow, SLOW!" Great video as usual, fellas.
First time for everything lol
The amount of times he said just like my raptor"
Nothing compares to it like it's the benchmark.🤦🏽♂️
Great video guys! You always do a great job. Please keep it up haha!
Guys, those 360camera shots you did during the off road obstacles were an awesome idea! It illustrates the video as nothing seen before 🙌👌✌️👏
Drinking game: take a shot every time Jakub mentions his raptor
this video will catapult this channel!! get'em fellas
Keep on keepin on guys. Appreciate all the new videos. Was it the Comanche years ago??
I've watched a lot of footage from this vehicle launch. I have to say - your camera skills and choice of 360 camera showed the actual angles of this course better than ANY youtuber. Well done.
Awesome, thanks. We would have released this video at the same time as all of the other CZcamsrs but the embargo time really screwed us. So we decided to wait to release it 👍🏻
Jakub looking way better with the full beard and no longer looks like wolverine's dad 😂.
Man that Jeep top is going to fly off!!!
can't wait for the diesel version to come out.... and probably have you guys review it too!
Your intro music is always on point 👌
Chevrolet SS coz first it's a sleeper and also people underestimate it alot. You guys should do a review of one
I daily one. It's a perfect car.
Holden Commodore*
Joel West *rebadged Holden Commodore
Hey guys love the show, also from Toronto. One question. How are you guys recording outside of the car while driving? Thank you keep up the review. Really enjoy it
Yuri admitted to me once in a comment that they are using alien technology.
They have a 360 degree camera on a stick either hand held or attached to the car.
Very neat technology. I was thinking it was a drone
Great vid, beats so many other channels quality wise
U guys r so likable.... My mind is made.... Me n my family r relocating to canada..
That missed fistbump at 9:20 lol
Drinking game: take a shot every time Jakub's Raptor is mentioned in a Jeep Gladiator review.
I guess you'd have a little buzz
if we play the game we will be drunk like for a week :))))
When I achieve the scrumph to pull that all nighter I'm rewarded with a tall jar of coffee and a fresh TheStraightPipes review. You guys really do give my mornings substance!
Like the review you guys did. I like the Gladiator. I purchased the jlu Rubicon last year and I believe that Jeep has really hit the bullseye with this new model. As for the Gladiator, as soon as I sell my Raptor I will be ordering a Rubicon model.
Looks like there will be a glut of Raptors on the market soon! Its nice that people like Les Szabo took initial deflation hit on these after driving them off the lot and will be trading them in, so look for some low mileage Raptors soon at Jeep dealers! ;)
It got a steering wheel just like my raptor.
13:36 - "Trail Rated" status may be determined by engineers as you said but it is also a marketing "gimmick" used to entice buyers. It is a branded message designed to communicate higher off road capabilities over other market offerings that is literally adhered to the side of the vehicle (fits my definition of gimmick, but perhaps not everyone's). Not trying to ruffle feathers here, but if I were told it is not a marketing gimmick by a "presentation guy" who is paid to market the Gladiator at a Jeep off road (marketing) event, I wouldn't trust that messaging.
Love your honest takes and opinions in all of your videos, but that bit made me raise a brow lol.
Anyway, It looks strange, but less strange the longer you look at it. I'd take a regular rubicon if I had to choose one or the other.
This is the truck we have been waiting for
Thanks for test driving the Red Sport with the Manual. That’s the exact car I’m planning to purchase, but with the beige cloth seats in 2022. I’m waiting for the improvements after couple of years. The Jeep Gladiator Sport is around $35,000, according to the dealer that I’m dealing with.
I would go for the 8 speed auto, better for off road.
Does Sport S stand for Sport Sport?
I'm sold!!! btw, I have a Comanche. 💪
Legend
Love these guys. Please do a model 3!!!
this is such a cool looking truck, I've never been a fan of Jeeps until the gladiator was released. I would definitely buy one if I was in the market
I am sacrificing my patience for the hospital wifi being slow just to watch this video
Hope everything is alright with your hospital visit
Hellcat gladiator, how about Spartan?
Jeep warrior
Gladiators are mostly Roman, so... Jeep Praetorian?
Maximus Decimus Meridius
Yes yes yes Spartan!!!
They should call it the trailcat obviously. Also you can now get rock rails with the willys package and always offered aftermarket but yes, they come in handy. I have them on my trail hawk grand Cherokee and they are certainly used off-road. Love the videos guys keep them coming
Nice review/drive/discussion!
I think Jeep could’ve manufactured a better front bumper for the Rubicon with a much better approach angle, though I can see a lot of people just buying this as a grocery getter more than using it for off reading.
And besides, the aftermarket for jeeps is 2nd to none. You can customize it in whatever way to suit your needs. For a stock vehicle the approach angle is very impressive, don't know what you are talking about...
The approach angle on the Gladiator is the only 0.5 degrees less then the JL. The departure and break-over is where the big difference is. The departure angle is really not an issue because you'll just drag the skids.
So cool and appealing but the only thing that would hold me from buying it is the expected reliability.
Buy an extended warranty, problem solved!
I have never had an issue with reliability on my JK and I wheel it a lot. I have bent the tie rod and rear axle but that was my fault. I've also fried the sound system wiring in a dual battery, totally my fault, but still Jeep replaced the $1500 unit for free telling me "It's a Jeep, people modify them"
Dude, the 3.6 has been around for decades at this point, they aren’t bad motors at all. The newer 8 speed transmissions are much better than the 5 and 6’s were 10 years ago. The biggest worry you could have with this car is electronics, and that’s just a FIAT thing, but honestly not that huge of a deal.
Really glad this comes with a manual which is a great plus
I'm in love with this thing
In the Netherlands (europe) the Gladiator is not available, but did you guys knew that a Wrangler Rubicon cost €93.000,- which is the equivalent of around CAD139.000,-😳😢
Man, car buying must really suck in Europe. Is it because of the taxes?
A For the price of a Gladiator in Canada you can buy a VW Golf. And not even a GTI
Gas guzzling taxes indeed
45K for the base model? Hell no, I would rather get a full size crew cab truck, with a V8 and some options for that price. The starting price on the Gladiator should be in the low 30s.
That's in Canadian dollars, friend.
It starts at 35
Starts at $32,000 USD and it’s Crew Cab 4WD. Very reasonable price for the segment

Devin Bender you didn’t pay 44 for a diesel lol
Good to see the Jeep truck back!
The last Jeep truck that I remember is the Jeep Comanche

Suzuki Jimny is THE lifestyle car
It cannot meet even minimum safety standards.

Krasnaludek what’s so bad about the Scorpio or Bolero?
Of course the ZR2 can go down at that angle.
86 Nissan stanza wagon was the ultimate lifestyle car. Dual sliding doors with no A-pillars. Winner Winner!
I’m finally getting my diesel rubicon gladiator next month. I can’t freaking wait

The most honest part of this video is their shift in opinion. Going from wanting a basic Jeep as a lifestyle vehicle to wanting a Rubicon that they will offroad is something that sadly most owners dont understand. People have always bought Jeeps because they have always been a trendy vehicle. But they can offer so much more of a driving experience if you're willing to just try.
