Ciao!
Thanks maâam one question please can AL be use when itâs FEMALE WORD?
Ciao! AL is A + IL, and IL is a masculine article, so we can only use it with a masculine word; for example: al mercato. With a feminine word we should use ALLA: alla mattina, alla scuola, etc.
If the word that follows begins with a vowel, then we use ALL' with both masculine and feminine words: all'inizio (masc.), all'accademia (fem.).

Hi, thank you for your comment! You can download a worksheet with the transcript of this video and some exercises on prepositions using this link: bit.ly/35rxBuF :)
Great teaching. Appreciate your efforts alot
Grazie, Herman!
Excellent presentation !
Hey!:) Iâm very confused as to when to use di and dâ. Somewhere it said to use dâ when di is followed by a vowel. However, Iâve noticed that this is true in only some cases, and I cannot figure out what the rules are. For example, Iâve seen sentences/combinations like âIl libro di ingleseâ, âqualcuno manca di esperienzaâ BUT then also âLago dâIseoâ, âdâinvernoâ, âLa borsa dâAgataâ and "olio d'oliva". Hoping you can help!:)
Hi Dakota, this is a very good question! Actually there is not a clear-cut rule, it's a matter of sound and personal preference. There are set expressions where we always use d', like d'amore e d'accordo, d'epoca, d'estate, and others, but otherwise the change from di to d' is not mandatory, and may even sound a bit old-fashioned in some cases. I suggest you stick to di unless you are using one of those set phrases.
@@MyItalianCircle Grazie mille per la sua risposta!!:)
I agree with all the compliments, but I expect to hear more than examples, I mean some rules !
Thank you Azmon! Unfortunately with prepositions there are not clear-cut rules, but understanding the functions that each of them can have is a very good start.
I can add that there are rules listed, before each example đ. In Italian, to show possession we use the preposition DI, and this a rule; to indicate movement towards a place the preposition A is needed, and so on. Using prepositions differently would be incorrect. Maybe reading the PDF will help clarify.

@@MyItalianCircle GRAZIE MILLE.
Hi
Ciao Hakeem!
.
I heard Italians say âIâm here for to work â - now I see why. Thank you for a great lesson!
Exactly, it's a bit risky to translate directly between English and Italian, they are quite different. Thank you for following us!
As a beginner, this is all too confusing...so many different ways of expressing essentially the same thing! Totally confused.
Unfortunately, this is how Italian prepositions work! But don't worry, take your time, it will all become clear with practice :)
@@MyItalianCircle I am most grateful for your kind reply, thank you. As an example of where my confusion lies, at 3:25 whilst explaining the preposition 'di,' your third sentence doesn't contain 'Di' , why is this? I'm only trying to understand enough Italian to get by as a visitor. My family are taking me to Naples in September for my 75th birthday, I've always wanted to see the marvelous marble statues in the chapel in San Servero. So time isn't on my side. Once again, thank you.
The sentence you are referring to is: la maniglia della porta. Della is a prepositional contraction: di + la : della. All this information can be a lot to take in, so you could try to learn them gradually. Next time you read a short text or sentence in Italian, you could underline the prepositions to understand how they are used. đș
@@MyItalianCircle Thank you. I realize now that I trying to run before I can walk, so to speak.
Un passo alla volta, one step at a time! If you need more help in your learning path, Iâll be happy to help :) đș
It seems Italian language is little bit tricky. Io parlo italiano con il Mio amico italiano.
Please don't laugh if I have it wrong.
Absolutely, Italian can be tricky. We have a lot of grammar rules... and sometimes we don't even follow them!
La tua frase Ăš giusta đ
Ok đ I will try my best.
PERCHE " SI GIRO' " ? NON PERCHE " SI GIRA' ? ( I and HE - SI GIRO' e SI GIRA' )
Si girĂČ Ăš passato remoto (past simple) del verbo riflessivo girarsi, terza persona singolare đ

Ciao Francis, sicurezza non significa solo safety, ma anche self-confidence. Per imparare a parlare in modo naturale non bisogna essere troppo letterali.
"HO ASPETTATO PER 2 ORE" means "I WAITED FOR 2 HOURS" non e' "I WANTED FOR 2 HOURS". NON E' ?
