Sgt. Carter wasn't fooling anyone. He was tough as nails on the outside, but he had this soft heart at that bottom whenever the right circumstances came along,

The snake thing is a bit misleading because constrictors, while not venomous, obviously do have teeth, and can pack a nasty bite. Also, a skunk might think you're big and threatening, even if you don't. Still, they're sweet and surprisingly teachable moments for a sitcom.
And they can carry rabies and not show any symptoms. For this reason, in many states it is against the law to keep a descended skunk as a pet. The majority of cases of rabies reported in the United States are the result of skunks.
This episode has a story to it. The skunk is a child's pet and the cruelty to animals needs to get stopped by the guys . Mr Sutton was charged by Boris Karloff for cruelty.
Actually this episode is correct about skunks. If you make no sudden moves. Speak in a relaxed gentle voice. They'll not spray you. I've fed wild skunks and named one. If I call his name. When I see him, he'll pop his head up and run to me. Remember be gentle snd kind to nature, she'll.do same.. animals can sense your anger and will reply same

Im saying this because I am watching early episodes and sergeant is harsh to Pyle in the beginning. It's just Pyle is too pure to understand why he's punished for. Oh also he saved Carters ass few times. And Pyle is great at following orders, unless its contradicts with his conscience.
@@hannibalburgers477 The U.S. Army and the Marines were severely effected in a negative way by the war in Vietnam, the spit and polish military of the late 50s and early 60s turned into a force with low morale, drug use, disillusionment with the war, "fragging" incidents, corruption at the highest levels, and Generals lying to the American people about the war, it took over a decade after the war for the military to recover from that dark time.
Even though this is a comedy, it still takes place during the 1960's. Pyle would've been beaten by Sgt Carter for his constant screw ups during basic training.
