IMO this type of video is 10x better than a desktop review/ regular video overview. It shows off how fun and useful the compact can be with specific examples for each tool!

As nice as the Compact is, I still really wish they would bring back the Yeoman. The Yeoman was the same size and included all of the same tools as the Compact but it also included a Magnifying Glass and the In-Line Philips Screwdriver. Unfortunately it was discontinued but has been produced in limited edition batches as recently as 2010. How about it Blade HQ, maybe get in contact with Victorinox and see about getting an exclusive re-release of the Yeoman?
Seriously that would be amazing. I carry the Compact, and would totally add a layer for the magnifier. The Explorer is a little much to EDC, for me.

Ha, you really expect Blade HQ to be able to do that? I seems to me they have a hard enough time keeping more than 20-30% of the items on their site in stock as it is. Then there are the knives that aren't even made anymore that are still on their site and have the old "Out of Stock" banner on the pic. For Microtech OTFs alone they still list 7 models like that.
Swissbianco released a version of the Yeoman a few years back. I snagged one of those
a compact alox in 85mm (cadet size) would be perfect. a Mini Compact Alox or Bantam X Alox.

I have been carrying a Victorinox small Tinker since the 80’s. Used it all the time as a police patrolman. Still carry it now that I’m retired. I have added another SAK, this one in the pouch with the scissors and magnifying glass. I wear cargo pants or shorts everyday, so it fits in my cargo pocket without issue. You just can’t beat them for utility. I would have loved to work for a fun loving company like yours when I was younger.

I love this challenge, because i mostly carry a Victorinox Compact as my EDC knife.
Zack is really on that compact. Trying to convert some people. I bought my wife one as a keychain knife. Smallest sak with the ,most tools. A must have. Keep my Swiss champ in my backpack.
I'm thinking of giving the compact a try. Ive had a tinker in my pocket for about 15 years.
I carry the Compact everyday. Love it!

It's a shame they don't make more of the 84 mm models. Those are the largest size blades I can take to work (2.5"). Until something changes, the Cadet works great. Alox Cadet + scissors would be sweet (or Alox Sportsman / Tourists). I can always hope, right?

I have several victorinox Swiss army knives. One in each camera case one in my backpack/camping gear. One EDC, but my Nick Shabaz knife stay at home on my desk
I love a good SAK. I carry a Cadet in my pocket at all times, and have a Fieldmaster in my bag for when I need something more :)

Victorinox SAKs are aweaome as is the after sales service. Victorinox rebuilt mine for free after I broke a couple of tools after 25 years of daily carry. 10 more years and it is still my daily carry. When it comes to compact tools, nothing beats Victorinox. I do have a Leatherman Wave and a Victorinox Spirit X for the bigger jobs and the Victorinox is just more comfortable in the hand.

Compact is my favorite victorinox. I've got a white one that lives in my back pocket as a back up/food prep knife. Easily my most carried piece of kit.
Wish victorinox would get with the times and offer some premium scales. They offer silver, but no titanium, or carbon fiber which is a huge disappointment.

Would have been funnier if you made the 1st guy do the test with a SAK and the second guy do it with the knife he just bought.

never understood need for for corkscrew but I do appreciate the micro screw driver. need more medium SAKs w lockable blades. Evolution S18 is my favorite but I usually carry the signature lite with a spyderco
Hands-down the victornox compact is the best EBC knife in my opinion. All the challenges were super awesome and it put the knife to the test and it nailed every task. My only suggestion is that one of the tasks should’ve been using the wire stripper to strip a wire . Other than that I love it!
I loved the challenge. I'll carry a Compact tomorrow to work.

Now switch out the toothpick for a Ferro Rod and add some helix tinder under the eye glass screwdriver on the corkscrew and you have everything you'd ever need in a 2 layer SAK

Edc- 202 but for a budget beater they ain’t bad of course I would go with a benchmade but hard to get one for under 100$

That is a decent idea. Safety might be a concern on that one though.
I carry a compact everyday along with my s1r2 baton in arc bolder wallet and a pm2 for bigger jobs I'm good . Great SAK .
It makes a great companion to a larger knife.
Great idea for a video. Please do more like it. I liked all of the tests except for the one for the parcel hook. I would like to have seen them pull back and attach a series of springs or at least lift up a bail of something tied with wire or twine. Rumor has it that that combo tool is supposed to work with Phillips screws as well as regular ones. If so, I would like to have seen that tested as well.
I have owned a Swiss Army Knife of different types for 50 years.
Never have I used the can opener, or met anyone else who has used it.
I notice that in this competition, even you did not utilise the can opener.
In these days of ring tabs, not required
In the days, the bottle opener, when modified , was useful to remove the end caps off 35mm film cannisters in the dark room.
These days we have twist off caps., and no more 35mm film
The wire stripper worked well then, if the notch lined up with the big blade, otherwise it needed to be modified with a three square file
The awl on my knife has proved to be very useful, one time to lever open the doors on a stuck lift,
But the can opener,...... Try it yoursef, You can do a better job with the main blade.
I want a Swiss Army Knife, without the can and bottle opener, but nary can I find,

No Philips driver makes me pass on the compact. I like the Explorer model and Tinker.
You missed the can opener test. The bottle opener can also work as a can opener

I think I have that knife. I use it a lot. I smoke cigars and sometimes tobacco from an old tobacco pipe. I use it to clean the pipe, and deal with other things.
Yeah the Compact is a great carry..... has anyone ever used the hook as a gut hook , which I thought it was?
Which SAK would you guys recommend? I carry the Leatherman Wave+ too, so some tools aren't as necessary on the SAK.
That you can buy new; Compact or Pioneer X. Compact is a 91mm, Pioneer X is a 93mm or if you're willing to pay for or find a Used or custom one 84mm with scissors as they don't make the 84mm scissors anymore. But Victorinox scissors are some of the best multitool scissors out there.

I love my Swiss army knife but the scissors fail sometimes and the little spring stabs my hand...
I have vici compact on me all time on key. I only wish if a hook would be replaced for a punch. Please tell Vick to make this change. The hook is mostly useless.
