How to Set Up A Table For High Tea!! // Elegant SUMMER Table for 5

- In this video, I create an elegant summer table and show how to set up for a high tea! This is a new video for us. I have been to the UK and never had the chance to experience high tea. This is my interpretation of what I might expect. We start out using our damask 70 in. round 100% cotton light yellow tablecloth called buttercream. I am using our royal Albert teacups in the yellow roses pattern with our table today. The plates were made by an American company in Pennsylvania called Canonsburg. This pattern is called Yellow Rose Temptation. They go well with the white lace chargers from our local Hobby Lobby. I decided to use the cobalt blue vase that our friend Doye gave us to tie in our cobalt blue that I am using this summer. I think it breaks up all of the yellow in our table and makes our yellow roses and lemons pop. We are using a tea given to us from our friend Diana and it is wonderful! I accessorize this table with our three tiered server with goodies purchased at our local store. This was a quick way to put this tea together. Everything was wonderful. And they had "women's Saturdays" at the church I used to go to, and had "High Tea" event one Saturday per year and all us women dressed up and wore hats (and there was a hat contest and the winner won tea cups and saucers) and we drank tea and ate desserts and sandwiches and there was a Bible message and songs. It was very nice.
It certainly sounds civilized to me ! And fun !
I have been privileged to have afternoon tea at The Brown Palace Hotel in Denver a number of times. Quite elegant, but it has nothing on yours. I love the yellow roses and I can smell the refreshing lemon. The splash of red from the strawberries is lovely! I am looking forward to when you will share your lemony recipe. I love lemon! 🍋🍋🍋. Good morning ☕, the table setting for tea is absolutely beautiful and so elegant! It looks like a photo from Victoria mag!! My favorite! I love the colbalt blue vase!! I noticed the sweet birds setting among the beauty too. In my 30s my former husband and I went to Victoria Canada on a very old Victorian boat! We went to a tea there. Very special!! I have many books on tea parties and it's alot of work if one was to prepare all those treats!! So your 3 tier tray was just as special!! Happy Friday High Tea! I absolutely love this - the yellow rose plates and tea cups & saucers are some of the prettiest I've seen. The floral is gorgeous with the cobalt vase. And the platter with the roses - heck all of it. You have such a good eye. This really has me thinking of my retirement and how I'm going to enjoy doing things like this! Delicious looking high tea. Yellow roses are my absolute favorite flower. Thank goodness Wally World has the variety packs of loaf cake. Can you imagine having to bake all of those loaf cakes in the middle of summer? Holy cow the kitchen would be sweltering. The air conditioner wouldn't be able to keep up. You always do beautiful work. I thought you might like to know that High Tea was actually the commomers evenng meal taken at a High table, thus High Tea. It would be tea with maybe meat, potato, etc. The beautiful table you set today is an Afternoon tea which was taken at a low table much like our coffee tables. Elegant, beautiful dishes and dainty bites to be shared with friends. No politics or religion discussed, only gossip!

When you took us to show us all around and the piano music played I started crying for the third time today. The first time was from watching an advert about family which was pretty unusual these days and the second time was because a possum I have been feeding 'Certified Organic' food for over a year had some kind of freak accident. One of the tops of my birdbath was upside down on the ground and under it was the poor little possum dead. I had to dig a hole to bury him and lay him to rest. A very emotional day today. I wanted a close up on the yellow poppy tea pot. All looked fabulously magnificent x 🖤💙🖤🙏😇🇦🇺

I have watched Kirsten and Joerg have high tea at luxury hotels, and even a castle and none of the tables were set as elegantly as yours. The tray that the cheese is on truly wonderful, so beautiful. I noticed that a little 🐁 ate all the strawberries, off of the tiered tray, before you took us all around 🤭 LOL!! Watching this made me so happy, and I really needed that today. Beautiful. I like yellow roses. You mentioned visiting Scotland. I found out that I'm part Scottish, and it makes sense because I love plaid. I wear plaid printed clothes all Winter long. And I got to visit Germany one time and they too have an hour long break around noon where they sit and eat desserts. I think it is part of being European, which I am, but I was born and raised in the U.S.

Hi ya Jeff . You just brought back so many memories sitting at my grandma's table , my mum telling us to be good and not reach for the food. We had Figg biscuits , Marmalade cake , lemon tarts , strawberry creams , fruit cake and milk from the cow. I know this is going to sound horrible but I loved fresh milk from the cow . Out of all this beautiful sweet food I couldn't eat any of it . My grandma would make me cucumber and cheese sandwiches .But I would put piccalilly on them . Dad being Scottish he had ham and piccalilly on his sandwiches . it would take us over an hour to eat . I still love tea out of a pot no bags at grandma's . I would strain the tea I still have the strainer and the teapot she left me her teaset . She gave me my first antique cup and saucer . Grandma was born in 1894 so my great grandma who I was petrified her she was born in 1875 she wore still a long black dress in 1965 . Sis and me loved her but scared of her , she would give us this look over her glasses hair in a bun high collar on her dress with a pin in it . I have the pin but I've never put it on , except for the day I got married all the women wore it on their wedding day . Tammy has it now . Hello Jeff and Angela, Thanks again for the relaxing tea time! I am playing a little catch up so will comment on your last two videos as we were hit hard by the storm and just regained power and internet after six days! Your tea table was great! I mean who could not enjoy setting down for a couple of hours and just enjoy. Such a warm and inviting space. I love tea, both hot and cold, and drank it all my life I must admit, however, that I had never seen anyone put a whole slice of lemon floating on top in the cup before. Genus! It would almost result in one drinking the tea through the lemon, a perfect way to add the flavor. i had to smile at the evidence showcasing your "it must be perfect "editing. You showed us all around, then, (I'm guessing) after reviewing, you noticed that the one bowl of red strawberries did not quite balance perfectly with the table, so afterwards shot more footage of adding more strawberries all around. Looked much better. Either that or they got eaten before showing us all around😉. Such a nice episode. As to the video showing us the entirety of your summer decorating, I can only say... WOW! I really don't think there is anything comparable anywhere in the world. You two really are amazing; I just can't describe! Someday, somebody will be doing a show about you. Music was enjoyable and complementary as always! I'll bring my book to an end with an amusing (to me at least) anecdote. Believe it or not, I was, in a way, mistaken for Jeff. While we had no power, I had to take quite a few trips into town. One person at the store that was waiting on me looked at me, hesitated for a second, then asked me if I did much landscaping. I was a little taken aback, but said I did some. Then he asked me if I enjoyed gardening. Now quite curious, I again stated yes, and asked him why. He pointed to my shirt. I looked down and saw that I had on my "Don't forget to be Happy" My take on home and garden shirt! He though it was advertising (I guess I sort of was). Had a good laugh and told him all about your show. Maybe he'll tune in! LOL. Chow and Cheers!

Omg that tea company Harney and Sons is great - it’s up in Millerton NY - they have a website with wonder teas - my fav is Vanilla Comoro - they also sell shortbread that is made with their teas - delicious!
