Like you, I love going out for afternoon tea as well as hosting teas, any and everywhere. I've bought quite a few books about afternoon teas with tons of recipes. I love going to estate sales and thrift shops for tea accouterments. I've been luck enough to visit Britain a few times and once had afternoon tea at Claridge's. I enjoyed your presentation and look forward to future videos. Subscribed.

Claridge's is such an incredibly lovely hotel--next time I'm in London, I'll make a point of taking afternoon tea there--can't wait! I hope to make a trip this summer.
I too am always on the search for neat and unusual dining objects. Have you ever been to Portobello Road Market in London? I've found the most interesting antique silver utensils and some amazing, vintage tea strainers.
I've had such encouraging feedback on afternoon tea, that I am going to make a full afternoon tea etiquette video that we will post in March.
I'm excited to film the video and have spent the weekend making scones, little cakes, and finger sandwiches---I love to putter in the kitchen and I really enjoy baking and making what I can--makes the experience and the video more meaningful to me.

You mentioned 4 hotels at the end, all of them 5-star hotels. I would love to know all the etiquette to follow while staying in these hotels- ideal clothes to wear and when to wear it(any specific clothing for breakfast/lunch,etc) for both men and women, how to talk to staff, what to do at check-in and checkout, how to order, any etiquette to follow whenever there is a buffet in a hotel? Yes regarding the four, five, six, and I even understand there are seven star hotels, most of them offer a version of a proper British afternoon tea. I absolutely love this experience myself, and seek them out wherever I am traveling around the world. However, afternoon tea is meant to be informal, not a very formal affair. So, acceptable dress or nice slacks maybe a nice dress, but nothing formal, for men usually a jacket is not required. However, it’s always best to check with the establishment first, do a little research and see what the appropriate and expected attire is for that establishment. Again, afternoon tea is considered informal, so I would dress accordingly to that, and research. I have seen jeans worn to afternoon tea, perfectly acceptable, I just never do that, because I so enjoy this experience I want to make a little effort and dress a little bit better, some thing I call high casual.
I love all your other questions, I think I need to do a whole video about that, but it’s best to always reserve your afternoon tea, you’re usually be given a tea menu from which to choose which kinds of tea you would like to try, and then of course you will have all the goodies, the sandwiches, scones, and little cakes.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to an Afternoon Tea but my favorite was in England and another at the Huntington Gardens Tea Room in Pasadena. I’m hosting an Afternoon Tea this weekend at my home for a few friends and am gathering the china, silverware, food and tea together. Is only one kind of tea served or can I offer two different kinds?
What the best tea pot to keep tea warm longer?

Usually I drink the tea so quickly I’m not too worried about keeping the pot warm. However, one tip is to buy a smaller pot. My go-to is Spode, holds 4 cups. Also, there is something called a tea cozy, it’s basically a padded Cloth cover that fits beautifully over your tea pot, helping keep the tea warm. Another pro tip, is before you add the loose tea and the boiling water first pour boiling water into your tea pot, swirl the boiling water around and then pour it out -this helps warm up the tea pot, then put in your loose tea, then put in your boiling water.

What a marvelous question! I have instructed Afternoon Tea for years and you are the first to ask this terrific question! The answer is, there is no real order to drink beverages-- tea, or champagne--which elevated the event to a Royal Afternoon Tea.
I say, have fun with Afternoon Tea, it is meant to be an informal and fun event, so drink as you like!

What I love about tees is it simplicity. They’re supposed to be informal and fun. A place setting for each participant is a small luncheon sized plate in the middle, Fork on the left and knife and teaspoon on the right, (blade always turned toward the plate), tea cup, ( with tea strainer over cup-if using) and saucer above the knife, plus napkin, and you’re all set!

Get the napkins off the plate. O one wants lint and starch on their plates. Most champagne is too great for all those sweet things at tea. Make champagne cocktails, buy a double champagne or make Kir royals out of the champagne to cut the dry edge with the sweets.

However, how about the champagne with the scones or sandwiches? For me, a glass of champagne, just elevates the afternoon tea experience, regardless of the type of champagne. Hey, Heidi, you probably know that there are a whole range of champagnes from bone dry to quite sweet. Many just do not appear on most stores shelves. You can find a more neutral champagne that can blend better with a range of foods. Also, brut or brut nature champagnes leaves with a very sour stomach. Perhaps a demi-sec?

Doux champagne not double. Champagne is very american.. a bad pairing with sweets... too dry. Doux champagne is sweeter. There are many choices in between as well.

Particularly a big pairing, but rather of nice added bit of elegance for a toast. However, I think your comments are very great. My favorite part of the afternoon tea are the sandwiches. So I guess we have to find a tea that can complement all three courses.
