Ben just praising everyone constantly throughout the video was really sweet. Humble dude.
They never seem to run out of time for him.
P
Love Ben
He's compensating! :)
@@wiseonwords I don't think so honestly, the dude has been like this for as long as I can remember haha he seems to really enjoy building up the people around him
ben is looking so healthy and happy, so great to see him feeling himself again
Is he de-aging? Looks like he’s 15 years younger.
I honestly really worried about his sobriety in this clip. He does look handsome but particularly when he was talking to John David he seemed to me, not completely lucid xs
Yeah looks better now that he got off the roids. They were making him so angry.
and I get it
I don’t think he’s intoxicated, looks more like he was coked up. lol.
I like how after everybody was praising John David at the end, Delroy caught on and took it upon himself to praise the other young'ish actor in the lineup, Steven. Delroy has always been a class-act and this just affirmed it.
Yeah I was so happy to see Steven Yeun getting some recognition at the end there. John David is very talented, but Steven is equally gifted in my opinion. His performance in Burning (2018) was absolutely incredible
It's cute but a lot of people feeling bad for Steven, not understanding all those guys are complimenting JDW because his dad is Denzel & Ben specifically related to Malcom + Marie (definitely because he's a director who's had a million high profile messy breakups). These conversations are all about who you know, Steven + Gary will most likely be the only one's to secure a best actor oscar nomination of all these guys where John David won't because his movie wasn't received well by critics (even though Malcolm + Marie will end up having a cult following in the upcoming years).
@@rubytuesday3054 your comment is incredibly shallow and down right evil. It’s the reason why this young man avoided acting for years even tho it was his passion because he knew that some deranged hateful person somewhere would discredit him based on who his father is. No, he was not getting complimented because of his dad but because of his talent and what he does on the screen. He is a great actor who is getting this deserved recognition on his own merits. Don’t you dare discredit him.
@@noriabu6613 Because I said Steven will be one of the only actors of those amazing 5 who will be nominated for an oscar this year & is an amazing actor? That's evil? Look in the mirror first & get back to reality before you start trying to make people feel bad for complimenting such an amazing actor
@@rubytuesday3054 “because his dad is Denzel” that’s why YOU’RE EVIL and YOU KNOW IT!
I’m dying at John David Washington trying to control his smile/laughter when they were introducing Sacha for BORAT 😂😂
Same. But really they invited Ben Affleck and that too for The way back. Don't get me wrong i like him as an actor but the way back was the most meh movie i have seen last year.
@@19RoFlMao19 really the most meh? Out of ALL the films you could have possibly seen last year, the way back was the most meh?
@@ojanymolina4222 they're just exaggerating coz they hate the guy
Lol! Yeah I noticed that too
Wishing Riz Ahmed was included in this for his incredible performance in Sound of Metal 😞
facts
They should’ve replaced John David Washington with him. I mean, JDW was really solid in both of his films, but Riz went through crazy studying for his character and gave, in my opinion, his best performance so far.
@@David1121Tito why not replace Ben who wasn’t in any critically acclaimed films this year. JDW did extensive research for both his roles
@@David1121Tito Nah let john there, they easily could replace Ben pathetic Affleck.
I remember seeing Riz on a different roundtable Q&A with Steven and a few others. I can’t remember who it was for but yes totally agree
I really miss the escapism that going to the cinema provides. It was my therapy.
It will comeback, ignore the headlines

Bens love for filmmaking is infectious, I’m so happy to see him looking really healthy.
Ben Affleck's joke on Daniel Day Lewis and alcoholism is soo funny, and Gary was the only one who truly got it lmao
I noticed, too ! 😆
where is the time stamp?
@@oktayozdemir2617
Around 28:25
Word!
Gary was probably the only one who got it because he too was a raging alcoholic in his younger days
I can see why Ben loves the Malcolm character in Malcolm & Marie so much. Man loves to talk!
lmfao
Steven kept getting blocked from talking a couple of times, cos he's just so nice and polite to let the others speak. The moderator dropped the ball on this and should have brought the conversation back to Steven to say what's on his mind. I loved how Delroy Lindo at the end gave a shout-out to Steven Yuen's performance in Minari to close the session. That was heartwarming to watch.
Caught that too!
@@MsMomemo Right?? I really wanted to hear what Steven wanted to say 'cos the flow of the conversation was going so well at that point.
Quite sad, Sacha especially. Some people only listen to gain permission to speak.
I love this need for people to feel bad for Steven & defend him because he wasn't "praised" as much as John David or feel they didn't go to him as much. He wasn't getting blocked from talking, it was just because it was a zoom call which made it awkward to interrupt others as opposed to past roundtables in-person & also because Ben Affleck talked over like everyone. John David actually didn't get many answers to questions either it just didn't seem like it because Ben/Gary kept complimenting him which they rightfully should have for his performance. Steven Yuen is an incredible actor & Minari is the year's best but some people just have more to say than others & zoom makes it awkward to talk over someone.
Ben Affleck dominated the conversation from the start.
Finally can listen to Gary talk without being interrupted by galloway lol
Hes one of the best actors ever
The only problem is no one is cutting off Ben Affleck 😉😂
@@vrvaughn
Come on, let him be. He’s just enthusiastic and happy for these people.
@@vrvaughn haha

I love the fact that they kept talking after the host left
Delroy Lindo has no comment on his last Spike Lee film being 25 years ago, because Delroy Lindo exists outside of time. You could cast that guy today in a remake of any of his 90s films and not have to change the character's age.
Amazing Actor .He needs to nominated for an Oscar!
P0000000+
Malcolm X was 25 years ago............. I gotta go meditate on the shortness of life
You're dead on. He looks pretty much exactly the same as he did in Get Shorty, I now realize (as one example). Crazy.
Man Delroy Lindo deserves to have this at the studio. Delroy Lindo doesn’t Zoom in, he makes an entrance.
I was shook by his performance in Da 5 Bloods.
Ben looks 10 years younger he's looking great!
Right? He looks 10 years younger than in his most recent film ‘The Way Back’
Its because the video is low quality. Can't see the wrinkles. Lol
@@mikekillagreen9432 no its because he is thinner
@@YS-nr3by No it's the video quality. It's blurry
@@mikekillagreen9432 his right he lost weight he looks like ben affleck from 2010s
That scene Delroy described about Steven was my absolute favourite in the film. Time became emotion personified in that silence from Steven's character.
Steven Yeun 🙌 Glad to see he's doing well, TWD went downhill after he left
TWD was my entire childhood man, I still remember the day it first aired on TV... Now it's been 11 years.
it really go down when carl grimes killed off , but now they are trying to improve
Man fo REEAAALLL!

Not really. The show got even better when the whisperers debuted.
Ben Affleck... what a sweetheart. These guys were all fantastically kind to each other. I left this interview feeling encouraged about life. Thanks
32:36 The "ex-wife in common" comment was so out of place.... but SO FUNNY
I just got to that point it came outta NOWHERE 😂 . (timestamp for others: 32:36)
that was so unecessary
But way to go everyone else on the panel for being like...that was weird.
I laughed so hard
That was so inappropriate
i love how they continued to talk when the roundtable was supposed to be over
favourite bit
People say Affleck talked too much but you can tell he’s genuinely passionate about his craft (and the work of others as seen in that lovely praising of JDW) and always has interesting things to say. It’s a shame Steven Yeun was cut off a few times but Affleck is seriously experienced and intelligent. I love hearing him talk
That's why Speilberg is a freaking legend, dude will watch an hour of 50 takes.
I hate they didn’t let Steven finish his thought........... he was cut off two times.
I knooow ! And he was so polite to listen
The moderator should’ve drawn it back to him to finish
yeh and they were discussing acting without dialogue seems like a set up :P
*twice
AND the interviewer didn't go back to him to allow him to finish! infuriating
@@supriya55 been watching these interviews for years, they edit them since it's usually not live but I agree 100%, Steven looked like he had more to share...about an incredible film too

Oldman Stan. Love it. 😆
How dare you relegate Steven Yeun to “and more”
They did the same to Gary Oldman..it is what it is.
🤣🤣🤣 ii notice that too so cute, i💖 him
I was looking for this comment - they're disrespectful.
Exactly
The interview could be entirely just letting them talk to each other like they have done by the end. So much respect between all of them, amazing to see.
There was something about this roundtable that I really liked a lot. Seemed like a genuine conversation by people who shared the same craft and love what they do.
Being on Zoom helped a lot. Way more relaxed than it being in the studio
This is an A class lineup. Excited to watch this one
If Sacha hadn’t said he had to go they would’ve talked for another hour
These are real men. They acknowledge their insecurities and celebrate others who they admire within their chosen profession. Respect. And awesome actors as well.
They're actors, the least "real" men on planet earth
@@MrJackWagstaff Well, except for Steven.

7:08 Both Ben and Gary have had their share of battles with the bottle. Gary got (and remained) sober after completing "The Scarlet Letter" in 1995, and Ben is still working on his sobriety after his divorce from Jennifer Garner in 2018, a breakup he regretfully blames on his drinking. I wish them well. Ben and Gary have each been directed by David Fincher, Ben in "Gone Girl" (2014) and Gary in "Mank" (2020).
Ben had public problems with drinking since 2001. And also episodes throughout his marriage and until October 2019. Now he's been sober for over a year, and quite possibly already recovered.
Wow I didn't know Gary was an alcoholic. It seems like most great actors have issues.
Love Steven Yuen! Much respect for his work in Minari. Also, much respect for every actor.
Steven Yeun also was great in Burning
yuss, incredible film, leaves you thinking because of just the implications of what it doesn't outright tell you, his character Ben was chilling

Steven's very attentive. Love it.
You categorize Gary Oldman as an "and More" actor dude seriously.
Right he’s by far the most talented one out of all of them.
I laughed bitterly when i heard it too LOL
Gary Oldman is one of the bests actors alive
I was only here for Steven Yeun, and I’m disappointed that he didn’t get to speak much.
Often the case with these roundtables that the younger talent speaks less than the veterans
I really wish they would have let him talk
Well that's why you were disappointed. You were only here for Steve Yeun.
Seems like he's pretty shy.
Agree. I was waiting for him to talk about Minari and they left my boy hanging. Dissappointed.
Is that...is that Delroy Lindo??!😍 I’m like obsessed with Delroy Lindo. Lol 😂
This was so rich, and so edifying. Bravo.
Riz Ahmed deserves a seat at one of these roundtables. The critical acclaim of his recent movies has been massive. Make it happen Hollywood Reporter.

I LOVE how honest the actors are in this format. How they admit insecurities and doubt. It humanizes them. I really appreciate it. I enjoy how genuinely admired they are by each other.
Ben affleck’s lost some weight, doesn’t look exhausted, has some glow in his face and enthusiasm in his voice. Happy to see
I’m so excited to see what Steven does in the future
One of the best group of actors yet, one of my favourite times of the year is awards season and watching these videos with directors / actors. Everyone in this chat appreciates the art and each others performances so much. Keep up the amazing discussions Hollywood Reporter!
I love these interviews keep em coming and mixing the actors and actresses up.
This was an awesome roundtable. For once, everyone got to talk as much as they wanted. Everyone had insightful answers and outlooks. I especially liked how the veteran actors were praising JDW and his humbled expression throughout. Really awesome stuff.
I love that these men are talking about deep insecurities.
what a passionate, insightful, fun and thoughtful conversation among such rad artists! love their camaraderie, mutual support and open-heartedness. thanks for this!
That was wonderful. Such an open and honest and free flowing conversation amongst real professionals. And the host kept the conversation moving equally with insightful and informed observations. And mostly, we’re all privy to hear it and be there with them all! Thanks to all. Love. Much success and be well all.
Totally enjoyed the fellowship amongst these actors.
Loved this, and also love the mention of Minari at the end. It such a special film and truly deserves the praise it's getting

Such a great opportunity to take in so many genius insights. A true Masterclass!
Really enjoy the no bs approach with Hollywood Reporter. Yes cussing is whatever but the fact that others can freely express themselves and say whatever they want about their craft and they just allow it. Is one of the many reason why I stayed subscribed.
I like how the actors wanted to keep talking even after it ended. 😄 Was wonderful to listen in.
