- Part 2 of my career in America, we continue on from the last ep we jump back in at round 4 of the 2009 AMA outdoors and i talk about my supercross experience.

As its lockdown Ed has pulled out an old EDUB MEDIA hard drive and struck gold, in 2009 he worked for Troy Adamitis who produced The Great Outdoors movies, it was his job to follow me and document all of the 2009 AMA motocross races, he also filmed most of my year including training and lifestyle, most of the footage never got used or seen until now.
There is a lot of cringe footage that even now watching it back gives me the shivers, so hopefully you can see the funny side.
Its a bit of a different style of vlog ive been doing but i think its pretty interesting as my time out there was pre instagram days so its never really been seen or talked about like it would be in today’s world.

I was one of the scrutineers at stevenage schoolboy scrambling club, I remember a race at Mildenhall, you was in the 125 schoolboys and remember I couldn't wait to see how trick your kx 125 was ..... your dad brought this old nail up, bald af back tire ( must of been practice bike) beat plastics etc...
I thought how the fuck is he gonna ride this????

Hey Roger, Stevenage is where I’m from. Never had the opportunity to join the SSSC though, think it was called Norton Heath (???) where I rode
@@ducaveli the people that ran the club lived in Enfield. At some point it must of been run by people from Stevenage but that would of been way before my time
Its not about anymore, shame it was a great club in my opinion.
My parents weres Clive and Sandra cargill used to be in the committee in the 90s.

So rad to see. Good job posting these! I had my own American MX dream throughout those same years (freestyle, though) and it brings back a ton of memories living over there and trying to figure it all out. Glad you went for it, those are memories for life. Takes guts to leave everything and go over there, everything's so different. And i had completely forgotten how far up in results you were those years, impressive stuff for sure. Keep them coming, these videos are killer and you're doing a great job breaking everything down. Ahhh, to be young again... haha!

Great video..2009 thunder Valley was one of the best races i have ever seen..then in the world championship in 2012 i traveled from Greece to Bulgaria and i saw you for the first. time..your win against herlings was so close.

Really cool insights, I've enjoyed watching these 2 episodes. Makes me think back to times when you used to race KX60s with my brother and Jake Nichols back in the day, then when I started riding I'd always watch you at Chippenham/Wild Trax riding the rev limiter on a Suzuki 125. I hope there will be a third episode to talk about what happened after all this - I'd always wondered if you talked to other teams about staying in America for 2011, or if CLS Kawi and GPs was your only option. I'd hoped you would go back, but it didn't happen

Tommy what did you think of the pds shock of that era? Just ordered a set of mx suspension from that era for my woods bike to play at the local mx track.
Blast for the past that was so good i forgot most of it !! You were on it back then looking back cant have been easy you were so young you handle pressure well mate !! Is it harder to ride for thorpey than it was for ktm ? Is your rivalry with billy the biggest you have had in your career ?
Billy will be my enduro rival next year he’s not giving me as many tips now as he knows
It takes at least 3-4 years for anyone to get used to the system, tracks, soil, etc. Tommy would have been top 1-2 had he stayed longer and gelled more with everything. One of the great riders ever to come to America.

I personally think your best race was the final round of British championship at the legendary hawkstone park and you stayed on Carl nunn back wheel the whole 2 races.
