- This is one of the best sounding players I have ever heard and if it had balanced output, I would never let it go.
Quality built and very reliable.
If anyone out there knows what the LAN expansion socket does, please let me know. - Věda a technologie
If you happened to have recorded more material on this CAL please share. I have an identical unit in my hifi rig and just love it. Always wanting to learn more. Thanks!
I have now bought it, so I have to fix it and hence, there will be another video on it
@@hear-net-au What was there to fix? I just bought one very cheap and I have to say it's the best player I've ever hear. Absolutely lovely and powerful sound. It should be upgreadable to DF1706. If that works I may also change the receiver chip from CS8412 to something like CS8416 and see if it would start accepting 96/24 from the digital input.
@@dkokalanov These upgrade are well above my pay grade. If I knew how to do it, I would fist upgrade my Wadia 16 to use PCM-1704s instead of PCM-1702s. But then one would have re-program the 3 FPAs that Wadia have put in there.
Impressive reservoir, an amp could get away with with 12x2.2m/35; I'm curious about the weird form factor ones to the right, 4 in a row of large cirumference, but flat, somewhat like memory back up supercaps. What are these?
Isn't it easy to add a true balanced output when the output stage is dual differential one?
It is, if you are an engineer and you can design the circuit and then the board and then make that board. It is much easier to just buy a player already so designed.
What are those capacitors for? Co they are not usual
The ones close to DACs are ELNA 1.0MF / 5.5V. That is right, 4 x 1 MiliFarad
There are too many capacitors.
