Of course, it was only a matter of time before DJs started experimenting with it, and DJcityTV’s Mojaxx has become an advocate of the service.
For this week’s “Tips & Tricks” episode, Mojaxx demonstrates how to live stream your sets with Periscope and a direct line from your mixer, ensuring the best possible audio quality.

Hi, I have *finally* got this to work on Android!
First appreciate that TRRS = Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve. The original TRRS configuration created by Nokia has a pinout of Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground. However, Apple came along and in typical "you must by Apple branded" fashion changed their pinout to Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic. So, the Rode SC4 designed for Apple has the wrong pinout for Android.
However, there is an Android app that can switch the pinouts in software and provide you with a handy "detect wired microphone" widget. The app is called "SoundAbout" and it's pro version costs £2.99 (basic version is try-ware with a two day limit).

yes indeed make sure u test run it with audio recording on your phone so u can get the sound right once u do that then u can go live on Periscope as well Facebook Live try it test run it

I run a (F)RCA splitter from my Pioneer controller's master out to a (M) RCA to 3.5mm Phono cable, straight to my Samsung S5 whilst using the booth output for my krk's. its works perfectly.

Can I connect my XDJ-RX to my phone (S8) via RCA cables with 3.5 adaptor and record the set with my phone camera?
helpful video. it would also be interesting to see how one goes about recording a live club set with sound from the room (i.e. crowd). my current setup is to rca-to-line from mixer into an attentuator and then line-to-dual-jack into my Zoom H4 mp3 recorder. i record in dual mode using the Zoom H4, so i get mic input from the room plus clear audio from the mixer. i can then pick and choose which "live" parts i want to include in the final mix i create. video i record with my phone and try my best to sync the audio using imovie
there is also "di wey" to stream the video from a phone to OBS studio and from there you can use the connected sound card... in my case (have not tested yet) I think it will work with the sound card from Xone96
I'm having trouble getting OBS to read my Pioneer DDJ SX Soundcard. I DL the ASIO OBS pack but can't figure out how to get it on my laptop to work with OBS... PLEASE HELP?

I remember streaming my DJ sets and #RockBand tournaments few years ago using my laptop and it required so much kit. Actually, it launched my career at #ADJ. Going to try it out on my #android and report back. Thanks for the info MojaxxVDJ .
facebook has as it turns out a limitation for Live audio where everything sounds really tinny, i have found however that with instagram this works perfectly
you can also use the IK irig 2.
I use it. Have to turn off WiFi and put phone in airplane mode to minimize interference (pops and clicks).
have an issue with facebook live audio, it appear to be adding a low pass filter to the overall sound, reducing the bass quite significantly, is there a way around this? techno without bass is like toast without butter...

If you have an older phone and still pick up sound from your internal microphone, you need an OMTP to CTIA adapter. Make sure its in this order and not the other way around (CTIA to OMTP).

Im playing my mixer threw aux on a stereo is it possible to live stream with direct audio without an attenuator by using a 3.5 to 3.5 extension cable from my steroes headphone port to a trrs to trs adater which is plugged into my fone,keping volume low
what cable do you use to go into your phone. (the mic cable) that comes from mixer to phone for sound.

awesome vids as always Big Mo! i have a Q. i've bought a trs to trrs adapter. The only out i have is the Master on my mixer, so im using RCAs to a jack. The jack then goes into the Trs adapters female end, with the male end of the trs adapter then going into my iphone x (via lightniing to jack adapter). I cant get this to work. The iphone is still using its internal mic, and when its all connected up, there is a strange pulsating interference coming through one of my monitors. I've adjusted levels as much as i can with nothing.. One note is im not using an attenuator.. would this be why?

I’ve messed about this week, I’ve got the trs adapter to work with my work phone which is a Samsung something or other. I’m starting to think it’s the actual lightning to jack adapter that is either faulty or just doesn’t like the trs adapter! I’m not using an attenuator currently.
I’ve tried this set up using my iPhone XR with the lightning adaptor and tried it using my iPhone 6 that had a jack plug socket and can’t get either to work.
ok, ill try periscope again, you convinced me, but i had to chuckle a bit when the cam switched to the top view down and i saw such a burly man with a tiny controller.
Can you Livestream on Instagram with this setup (pioneer Mixer), i tryed it but im not shure if the input comes from the internal mic or from my jack cable.

Can't get it to work! My android phone still pick up audio via it's internal microphone! However got it to work once but not without sacrificing the audio from my studio monitors!
Got a Traktor S4 MK2 and it got 2 main outputs on the back (3/4 jacks and RCA) + channel A/B inputs, 1 footswitch 3/4 jack, 1 mic 3/4 jack, 1 midi in/out and 1 headphone out on the front.
I am told i should connect the livestream audio via the main outputs and not the booth, so i got the SC4 and connected that to my phone with an additional mini jack to x2 3/4 cable plugged into the S4.
Sure i got audio through my headphones to mix with but i loose my speakers since they aren't connected to the main outs.
I've got a similar cable cable like the mini jack to 3/4 jack but with RCA instead of the 3/4 jacks, but that doesn't work...

since your video is about "periscope" you should put that in the Title & Subscription to better target your audience so people aren't miss-guided. Your video doesn't match the title &/or keyword search I was looking for. Good Video quality & info for Mac Users though. Be sure to include that too!

Very important question I have a Numark Ns7 DJ controller with a build in mixer and if i want to DJ live would i have to connect the IRig2 or SC4 to my master and just connect my speakers to my booth ?

Maybe it is dumb question but does that atenuator as something to do from converting mono sound into stereo? Can't play live with decent audio quality.

When I connect the sc4 to my iPhone SE it mutes the phone's mic, however when I connect a stereo mini jack to the sc4 the phone starts using it's mic again... any ideas?

Can the SC4 work on the Mac laptop? I been trying to live stream on youtube but it records all the sounds around and not whats coming out from the mixer. the hook up is RCA cable from the mixer to Recording jack on my mac. It gets every sound but whats playing. Thank you

Im doing it with the DDJ sx2... i think all you need is the trs to trrs cable.. i get that you have to have the volume lower but i could get to about 45% before it clipped so you can do it without the attenuator i reckon.. (using iphone and faacebook live stream)...

I can't seem to get it to attenuate the sound. still sounds loud using Facebook Live.
And the quality isn't great.
when I used the attenuator properly,it was still quite loud, you have to make sure its the right way around first also! and then turn the volume up or down... also a good way to test is, before you record use the voice memo app to check the sound.. its really good and it shows you the wave form so you can see the volume level.. I recommend playing two songs at the same time to check the level.. also for some reason when i plugged my laptop into charge at the same time as my phone.. it created this weird buzzing interferance sound so check that as well..

I've been beating myself over this, ha! I Dont know why nobody has shown a tutorial on how to do this? I only hear my microphone audio if I hook up powered speakers, but the mic audio isn't going to the laptop, or my speaker that is hooked up to master out 2
Edward Garcia yea but with obs u need to use your laptop. This was to show how not to use the laptop. I just want to come right out of my mixer into the adapter then into the phone
Great vid! I picked up all the recommended products (TRS-TRRS, 3.5mm to 2-male RCA) but still the iPhone records with the built-in mic. I use a Pioneer DJM 600. I tried running the lines from Master out, booth monitor and REC out. What am I missing?

I can confirm this exact setup does work with Android, I have a samsung galaxy s4 and it works a treat, once you work out the kinks.
Plug the rode sc 4 into your phone by itself. Open the periscope app. Then once you are broadcasting connect the rode to the rest of the setup. Mine goes like this: I have a phono to 3.5mm jack from my rec out on my mixer that plugs into the input on the fentronix attenuator; then a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack...one end goes in the fentronix output and the other will go into the rode sc4. If you plug everything in at once it does not work. If I have not explained it well enough ask me again and I'll help all I can.

Don't know which sounds better but the SC4 does need an attenuator. No attenuator, no work.

I have a setup that is a bit unique. I am using obs to stream my mix. I have a built in mic from the laptop but the playback is horrible. I am using a old gemini pmx 350 mixer that is hooked up to a numark 4 quad usb mixer. The usb mixer plugs into my laptop. Not sure which setup would be best for me but the audio playback on twitch is really bad. Please let me know. Thanks

Hey, I don't DJ using any external hardware - if I want to stream my DJ sets to Periscope using the audio directly from my computer, what should I do?
+Buum Buum Hope that you have a booth output on your controller. Otherwise it get's a bit trickier...
And you have good clean audio (Audio playing sounding like it's running through a trashbin)

What's the minus DB range for the fentonix attenuator you used? I m trying to find something similar here in Japan.
It's -25db. I believe Fentronix will ship to Japan if you can't find anything suitable there.

You need an OMTP to CTIA adapter.
I'm using DDJ T1 controller which is compatible with Traktor. I'm struggling to get direct audio from the controller during Live Streaming. I have Sc4 Adapter with RCA splitter which has 3 rings, DDJ T1 has 2 master outs puts one for jack point speaker and the other one for RCA Master output. How do I work this out for good quality audio?
