Mojaxx & DJ City, I've been home & watching so many of your videos over the years. Thank you so much for your consistent & thorough work over the years, much appreciated!
Thanks for the tips Mojaxx. Guys, There is a software called OBS that lets you pump up your live stream game to a grand scale. If you are using software to DJ with your gear, you can program it so that the live stream plays the audio from your PC instead of a microphone. This would help the distortion as itâs all about how you level it in the mixer.
Itâs quite simple to use as well!
:)
As a DJ and a filmaker/content creator (not here on youtube) I'd like to point out that lighting and camera angle are incrdibly important also. No one wants to look at your gut for 2 hours or a silhouette. Also the more light you have the less grainy the auto exposure of your camera will be so it will look a higher quality. If you're not concerned about image just stream audio using a platform like Mixlr.
Periscope also lets you stream without any copyright issues.
Thanks for those tips mojaxx. Really awesome seeing someone not just talking about the technicalities of how to do it but also give tips about how to keep the communities active and unite instead of divide. Props for great content. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and sound as well as everyone else. This is truly a bizarre time and a great way to avoid the dark vibes is to create and keep engaged in hobbies and projects. Hopefully while this year is quite somber it will be a great year overall for music and creativity.
Stay safe people. Stay at home. We all have a responsibility towards one another to keep each other safe and get through this. Peace.
I had that issue with my guy DJing at the same time as me. We shouldnât be competing with each other. He went on after me so I didnât know or I would have stopped early.
Hey Terry how can we find out when you're going live again
Last night I attended an online party where the high quality audio was streamed live through MIXLR and then ZOOM was used for video and chat. It worked out great and people got pretty freaky. Fun times.
I had the DJs in Alaska do a âbar crawlâ night - we had a different DJ every half hour and sent people from one DJ to the next to recreate that downtown feel it went great
I have a vast interest in this subject now as a DJ, as do many others i would imagine at this time. I've watched all your previous streaming vid's but some are obviously a bit dated now, 3 or more years ago so I'm really happy your updating them. I'm OK with the technical side (more or less) its the platforms and copyright issues I'm more interested in. I did my first FB live stream the weekend and it got pulled down twice, on the 3rd time i gave up. I was trying to avoid commercial music, and keeping the tracks short and I was also playing remixes rather than the originals mixes, but i still kept getting shut down. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next vid
Nailed it on the tips Mojax thanks! Why is Twitch the only streaming platform allowing us to stream copyrighted music? Do they have some kind of special deal with labels? Why cant IG and FB do the same?
Iâm afraid the copyright thing is, and probably always will be, a complete mystery.
i do cuts of around two minutes but one of the best ways around the copyright issue is to be more obscure if possible and of course if you have some of your own productions that might help.
For multiple DJs in a schedule create a FB Watch Party as you switch the Watch Party Stream to and from the individual DJ live streams. This means people can join and stay in one Watch Party and you can switch the DJ streams.
Another tip for avoiding your streams not getting taken down is using effects, use reverb delay or anything to mess with the waveforms, the way the copywright works is the platform analysing the waveform so if your playing with it, cutting and using effects itâll help a lot as well!
Good call on scheduling with your friends and local DJ's better to work together and not overcrowd a platform.
Another idea is to use zoom or skype. I know its may be not be the best quality but at least you can do what you need to do
Edward Hines Iâm just sitting here playing with zoom and the audio is horrible. Still trying to figure out getting Serato Denon MC7000 to work without distortion :(
Check out Tiny Chat as well you can google it u can see it for your self its a video cam party over there too and u can create a video chat room as well.
Thanks a lot Mojaxx. Thanks a lot for your videos. Helps keeping us sane through these crazy times. Stay safe. Thanks and big love from Vienna.
Thanks M. Always love your videos. Stay safe man. I'm building now to do some Twitch (or Mixlr) streams (tech house mixes) from this weekend. Great tips thanks
Your initial streaming tips were a great help for me a few years back. Look forward to the fresh content Mojaxx. From my perspective Twitch is the best platform for streaming right now. So much you can do with it when going live and I have had no copyright issues when broadcasting. Recordings do get sections muted sometimes but I'm not that concerned tbh.
Good onya Mojaxx. Your vids are very good. I'm still at work, while my family are at home as I'm FIFO. I'm worried all the time. Keep up your vids please.
Any tricks to live stream on FB? We did a live stream last night and soon after finished, we got a message about copyrights. How everyone else does a live stream and played music? I am curious about this, any help is much appreciated.
Well FB & Insta have similar regulations when it comes to copyright. I was live streaming a set yesterday on Insta when I got a message on the screen about probable copyrighted song being played. I resumed but within 10 mins, they shut my Live & I wasn't able to go back Live for the next 2 hours. CZcams/Twitch seems better from a livestream perspective.
Thanks for the tips. Streamed on twitch for the first time yesterday using OBS. Just using usb out on my pioneer mixer and my MacBook cam for now but after watching a few gamers give tips I've ordered a half decent Logitech cam. Stay safe
I totally agree with the schedule of DJs. So many dope DJs but no type of schedule - so it becomes this free for all...usually like 5 DJs who I would love to support but they're on at the same time without warning...so thank you for mentioning that. Lastly, trying to get DJs to rock a set for 1st responders, doctors, nurses, etc...and hashtag #djs41stresponders. Just a way to show love to those putting in the serious work on the front line of this pandemic. DJs are you with me...? Stay safe - keep rockin...Peace
Great Advice. I like the mix train idea
The 'iRig Stream' is probably the best interface for DJ's to get direct stereo audio to their phone but it is the most expensive.
Roland's new one is more expensive. The IK one is on sale here in the states. $20 off.
The istream looks the nicest, simplest & easiest to get on with.
Yeah I was doing my homework on possible connections and just ordered the irig yesterday. Should receive it on the 28th
I have the Roland on the way to me, and Iâm working on sourcing an iRig. I can attest that our guy Chris Villa did an Instagram live stream on DJcity a few days ago with the iRig and it was crisp!
U Can use iRig2 a lot cheaper
Twitch is the way to go. I find that using multiple devices on twitch that are logged in to the account help to engage with the fans.
Also, if one is running obs with multiple camer angles as well as stream the audio feed within OBS, to make sure the computer can handle. If your recording your set, use a seperate computer or device to be dedicated for just that purpose.
Twitch is best you can play whatever you want and long as you want
Yup.
Twitch channels can have multiple separate stream keys. I'm playing with a brand every weekend who plays music from 8pm-4am. Once one stops, the next jumps on straight away.
Really looking forward to hearing about the setups you recommend for this.
Thanks Mojaxx...I try to Livestream 2 a week on CZcams (Not Facebook) because I'm sure they will shut down the livestream. As you mentioned to mix quicky and not leaving the track for minutes....What do you recommend for someone who plays house and Techno music?? How long should the streaming be....again thanks for sharing the experience and be save and #stayathome ;-)
With house and techno the later tip applies more - dig deep, play indie releases. Itâs a lot easier to do with those genres than it is for those who play hip-hop & R&B.
All very new to this live streaming and only just subscribed tonight. Great job on your vids MoJaxx. Recently my nightclub has had to shut down and a few of the punters have said in this time of uncertainty maybe I should get myself and a bunch of my DJs to stream a few live sets for our community just like you metniined. None of us are very vocal DJs though and it's more about the music. So it's either going to run as a very non vocal radio show or we play and mix our tracks until we get blocked đ We have a huge FB following but maybe we can link them to periscope which some one has suggested. Anyhoo... Stay safe everyone and fighting fit. Any suggestions welcome.
Hi MoJaxx! I would like to know if there is a way to record a video of a DJ set with a iPhone 11 and using the EvermixBox4 for catching the sound. Thanks a lot for all the content youâre doing for us!! đ€đđŒ
Also Make a Discord, Most Twitch streamers of all platforms have them, I found its the best way to be more interactive with listeners and other dj's organizing raid trains and online festivals. It Helps build a community and once you start a small community, it does not take long to become affiliate and gain more renown..... plus NEVER advertise to people that you are going to stream in someone else's chat, its a hard slap to the face and community will shun you. Positivity and negativity spreads fast in the streaming world/people talk.
thank you i am try to restream.io but i am not sure it is free to stream in facebook youtube and Twitch thank you for support
it says on the site for a free profile '30+ streaming platforms' and 'Facebook personal profile'
Big up DJCity.I hope you are al well and safe.
Shout out to all the creators. I bought my first set of direct drive turntables when I was 14 Iâm now 35. Still have them, and dusted them off and recorded a set and posted to Facebook. Of course got message saying copyright blah blah could be muted.... this is my first time posting any Dj mix in like 15 years. What do you guys do about this ?? It was so much work to just be taken down...
I was wondering if it's possible to use the onboard soundcard of the DJM-750mk2 to live stream a dj mix? Or do I HAVE to buy an external soundcard? I'd like to stream to Twitch. My setup is 2 cdj-2000's (non-nexus) and a DJM-750mk2 using usbs, not using software such as rekordbox or traktor. If so how? I have been scouring the web for a straight answer but unable to find one. I did see this guide "Streaming with OBS + DJM (Mac)" but this uses rekordbox software.
Thanks
I definitely want a newer tips & tricks video on how to stream with direct audio via an android device.
Iâm hearing about good results streaming with the little Rode SC4 adapter on Android now, itâs actually iOS where that seems a bit flakey now.
Thatâs if your phone has a headphone jack still...
you need a why lead out of mixer booth into one r.c.a lead into a 3.5 mini jack three ring, i'e hot tip jack into android goodluck
@@Jenseninterceptor321 y splitter rca to 3.5 mm cord, right? i have that, problem is my phone (Galaxy Note 9) isn't recognizing it for some odd reason...i also heard my Xone 96 mixer has an "audio sync" feature in the back of the mixer, they (Allen and heath) claim i can use my phone to record using a 3.5 to 3.5 mm cable, but im not sure how to use it because there's no line volume level to know if im clipping. Maybe you guys know the answer to this, can an audio interface be used to livestream with the built in webcam on my laptop? It's a fairly new PC with windows 10 OS.
the booth out is the volume line, set it two four an half... an do a test run it won't clip set gains to a 12 o'clock position, goodlook
you would need a separate booth out into fone that's your clipping channel just set it say four an half do a test run on sound, goodlook
Nice one Mojaxx great advice and speech big follower of your channel. You stay safe as well man . DJ HarrisonC
I might be wrong here but longer mixes would probably trick the algor. more that short mixes, contrary to what you said. I mean weaving tracks together (and not using master tempo/ Key correction) should make it more difficult to ID them in a mix.. of course that does not make sense for all styles of music .. Cheers and stay safe!
Keep the vids coming Mojaxx - thanks as always and sty safe!
Thank you for putting out good solid infođŻ
I have a rane 72 mixer. I have an rca to 3.5 mm connection cable that I plug into the session out and plug into my iPhone 11 for my live streams on Instagram and Facebook live. Does this work, in your opinion? If not, what can I use to get better audio? Because you didnât really go into detail about the 72 because it wasnât out when you made that video 4 years ago.
Please help. Thank you in advance. Iâm Johnny.
You might need a trts converter for the end of your 3.5. The reason is because when you plug it directly into your phone you need that plug to override the internal mic on your phone or else you will also record the volume coming out of your phone I've done some testing on it and I'm waiting on my road SC4 to come in
In terms of monetizing streaming here in the US (assuming we are all in quarantine for an extended period)....does anyone know if you streamed to directly to your website and pay ASCAP & BMI could you legally charge a "cover" or at least use a virtual tip jar? I fear without paying to ASCAP/BMI then you are at risk of the RIA (Recording Industry of America) coming after you if you are trying to make any type of profit.
Mojaxx, I appreciate this and look forward to your videos!
I definitely played a song a bit too long today, got flagged by the algorithm. My video was dropped with the quickness. Didnât even think about it until I saw this video. I thought because it was a private video Iâd go undetected, but I was wrong. Thanks for the tips, as always! Be safe
Good video Mo! It's a bit dark but good!
Iv just tried restream out. Goes to four of my platforms. And itâs free. There is a charge for more advanced settings
Sup DJ City Family. 1st I wanna say I hope everybody its safe and bless just wanna put that out there.
2nd this its a great way to get starting to live stream I seen a lot website developments coming soon in the works in the fall 2020 look out for it DJ City this will help out in the DJ Community real soon. I been doing live streaming for 10 years and it really help me to understand the Live Stream Business and I seen so many DJ's who are using different Apps to go live on as well its totally amazing I can't not wait to see what the future holds for us as DJ's who DJ at home its going to be so much upgrades for a Bed Room DJ into 2020 it's going to be a wild year look out its going to be a hot thing then ever before y'all doing it and keep up the work and follow Mojaxx with his tips and tricks. If it wasn't for him letting me know about Periscope and how to use it to get crystal audio with the SC4 Rode Mic I don't know where I be at so thank you Mojaxx. I will continue on to share the live stream knowledge for many years to come.
P.S Check out the I-Rig Stream I hear a lot great things about it I am going to get this coming April asap. Keep up the work stay safe and get streaming DJ's
Funk Up Salute Peace.
Looking for tutorial on streaming live through Serato Video. Do you guys have any?
Love the tips here Mojaxx .As a former djay just looking to put some mixes up ,got Iphone 11 and Ddj 1000 reckordbox. n 2 monitors in the house. Ainât got irig 2, canât get one with this lockdown now đ©Whatâs easiest way to record the vid n audio? Which platform best posting mixes without getting taken down ?Advice anyone? Iâm using macbook. Thanks
One of my needles gave up yesterday, Ain't got no spares.đĄ. I'm in major lockdown in Spain. But hey at least I'm still aliveđ
Can we get a review on irigâs Stream?
Is it possible to live stream via FB whilst using an Android phone as the camera? Trying to connect but don't seem to be able to access the phone/phones camera - only the laptop camera. Using audio interface which has been picked up so audio SHOULD be fine.
Thereâs no way to âcross the streamsâ to coin a phrase. You either have to do it all through the phone, or all through the computer.
@@Mojaxx Thanks - gonna try my old digital camera to see if it'll connect.
You can use an app like Driodcam to use your phone as an IP webcam. Works better connected via USB cable then over WiFi. Once your phone is connected as s webcam from within Facebook live on your PC / Mac you can choose your phone as the video device and you line in / audio in on your PC / Mac as your audio feed.
@@martinrafferty7826 Hiya - Since all this has come to light I have tried several different Apps but can't get it to work for some reason. I've tried Droidcam and got the furthest with this. But when changing the camera & selecting Droidcam on FB it just won't work. The option is there but no matter how many times i try it just stays on the laptop webcam!! Using Windows 8 (unfortunately) so don't know if that's the issue or not. I've managed to get it working in OBS but then still won't let me select it FB. Any Ideas?
@@bendybenbenderson Try in Chrome found FB Live doesn't like some browsers like Edge. Make sure your Droidcam and audio souce and ready before you go to the FB Live Stream Page. Just teste don my PC and works fine Droidcam for Video and Line In from my Mixer for Audio.
On 3:00 you mention for sound we can use the Pioneer rec app (I have a DJM 900 Nexus). Why exactly do we need that app if we would stream via OBS? I was thinking about linking the mixer directly with the laptop. Or is that app for streaming on youtube/facebook via the iphone? Thanks
Dear Mojaxx, I have only one computer, a ddj sb3 and I use Serato. Is it possible to apply any of these tips with that setup? Cheers mate!
Ive noticed latley with my iPhone and my irig not working proply with Facebook
Great vids! But I have seen DJs stream just the serato decks not the whole screen, then have a cam over mixer and then on them.....cool setup so the viewers can see all the magic....but can you show to set up like that please
Found it...Right click the source in OBS -> Filters, add a crop filter. Used in conjunction with Elgato
How do you get the mic audio to work? Iâm using the DDj-Sx2 I have my mic hooked up to mic 1 ch3 , and my controller hooked up to my laptop. I can hear the music, but I donât hear my microphone. I also have a beatbox speaker hooked up to my controller through RCA cord and music is being played, but not my microphone audio, but when I hookup my powered speakers to master our 1 I then can hear my microphone audio, but thatâs the only way. I donât know if it makes sense, Iâm just trying to get microphone audio while live streaming while my microphone is connected to my controller
You can also pre-record your DJ set as a video and then premiere it on youtube. This way it looks live and more enganging + YT won't take it down.
Iâve had plenty of my mix videos blocked on CZcams over the years! Nothing is foolproof. But not everything has to be live, for a lot of DJs theyâll actually get more engagement from a carefully shot and edited short routine than they will from a live mix.
@@Mojaxx as I understand, adding credit to original authors is necessary. Also youtube detects original authors from your video and lists them under the description. And from my understanding, youtube is paying to those authors while people see ads while watching your video... have to test it more this friday :)
Underground music is the key, I still have some underground livesets up from years ago.. :)
Hi guys, I've hooked up traktor to mac. Dld sunflower app. Everything going into OBS but cannot monitor music through headphone out from controller aargh. What am I missing? cheers
Cheers Brother, you are as helpful as ever. đđđ
Nais Mic Mojaxx, greetings from Heilbronn, Germany
Yes it is a rather good mic! đ
Wus Gud MoJaxx wanted to know what is best to get mechanical license for music to stream on social media legally and if so which one will be the best to get license from, to play Music legally
How do you get over on a delay between what you stream and what pepole is seeing on screen?
Thanks bro for the important information. đđœđđœ
Great Advice as Always M, will probably doing a bunch of live vocal sets to mix it up
Hey Mojaxx....hope you are fine and save...!!!!! I do have a question and would like to ask you what do you think about . Streaming with Streamlabs OBS with Twitch ---> my personal Facebook account, would that work to not being cut down cause of the copyright issues ??? Or will Facebook cut down anyway ??? Thanks for you help ;-) #stayathome
great advice thx
Hi Mojaxx : always nice to see u , kind regards from Spain .
The back to back shout out is amazing! Honestly the first ânewâ idea in my search of better streaming. Iâm a legal DJ with record pool that provide licensing. I also have a licence called âConnectâ
Any idea if that helps with copyright?
which platform would you recommend using a mac book
Thanks for the advice.
When the stuff for self employed in the UK gets out a video on how to get finacial support maybe helpful. As you say we are all hit hard in this industry. If that helps some people it maybe so incredibly helpful.
dig the video! thanks for the tips.. I'm also currently trying to get a live stream up in the air but I'm facing some difficulties. I'm using a Traktor S4 MK2 and a samsung s8. I'm trying to connect them via a Rode SC3 adapter, connected to one of the main outs. Can't get it to work though.. do you have any tips? thanks !
@@Jenseninterceptor321 Hey bro! thanks for the response.. I wanted to get the audio quality up another notch so I changed my setup. I currently using: traktor S4 MK2, with a rca to 1/8 jack to a line input on a Roland Rubix 24. The audio interface is connected through usb-c to my samsung s8. When I shoot a normal video, the audio quality is amazing. When I do a facebook livestream the sound sounds very distorted in the lows though. I checked if any signals where in the red, but they where all fine. How do I get rid of this distortion? love the video's man. keep it up!
Great advice man ;-) Mc Skibadee
Talking often over the trax delays the algorithms also
twitch is the only one that doesn't care but the replay will be sound block
I think for live streaming it should be all about the âliveâ aspect - and you can just accept that once itâs finished, itâs gone.
Not everything has to be live though, itâs still a great idea to pre-record a mix/routine video and put that out for itâs own sake.
TikTok is also an option, you can also take donations through TikTok
@@Mojaxx That's why I like Periscope. Viewers that may have missed your live stream can always come back & view it later, in it's entirety...... music & all.
Can I use dbx go box
iRig2 works fine. really easy setup
Does the evermix box pro keep the audio in stereo?
Hi dude! Here in Brazil the lockdown in some states has begun. In meantime our criativity is floating around.. (rsrs). I have a question. In your video about DJ live streaming part 1, you said about a service name like " to dot tv" because with this service we don't have copyright issues in streaming. I've tried all the possibilities to that "name" but unsuccessfully. Can you confirm please?
Thx!
If anyone needs help live DJ streaming on Twitch, please reach out, always happy to help!
Keep well everyone... Tough times ahead
mojaxx.. i only use vinyl. but when i record into my phone the sound quality isnt good... could you give me some advice please to get it to sound good

MOJAXX - Just wanna show some love my bro... Hope the fams cool and well
EZ Mo , looking FWD to your dj streams
I think master tempo is great point , of course for original mixing djs it be easy to move the pitch up & mix as thatâs what we use to do on technics etc but for djs who only know 0% pitch , master tempo etc not sure there that be interesting
When I say Master Tempo, thatâs just what keylock is called on CDJs.
@@Mojaxx Yes 100% mate but you rarely hear many DJ's pitch tempo up today , it was natural thing for any club DJ before even early Cdj era of djs if you listen to any old TDK tapes your hear tunes pitched up
This was such great info, especially about how to avoid the copyright flags, stay healthy and safe my friend.
great video and great insight. thank you
Thx bro stay safe
Yo this is good meat đ I'm sure going to rock the data this weekend. MOJAXX saves the day again. #DJSvsCOVID19 stay healthy and brotherly love to all
SO no one not gonna talk about virtual dj. That you dont have to do all that extra stuff. Its already built in the software to broadcast plus the quality is high class
I USE MY VDJ BROADCASTING ON RADIO.CO AND PLAYED MY SET WITH NO INTERRUPTIONS. CHECK THEM OUT. NEXT IM TRYING ZOOM.
lovely Vlog respect from South Africa
Make sure to mute your cameras microphone. And use only the audio source
Hey man I have the Rode SC4 and my DDJ 1000s are arriving this week, whenever I plug in the sc4 with the rca cable to my ddj 400s and press record on my iphone 6s it still only records the built in mics audio? Any tips?
I heard the rode s4 is hit or miss with I phone. I have one coming this week for my s10e. Hoping it works if not I will buy rig2
I had the same issue and finally figured it out... connect the Rode SC4 to your iPhone first, this way the phone recognises that an external mic has been connected. Then connect your RCA cable to the Rode SC4. When you record, you will need to turn down the master level from your decks to avoid distortion. Hope this helps...
Nice one, good tips
Great as always - thanks
Turning keylock off is a great tip!
Is there a way to feed the audio through Instagram live?
You can use OBS and yellow duck if you donât have a irig or an interface that connect to your phone.
Great tips Mj, thanks
Thanks Uncle Mo!
