    I've really enjoyed this game! The biggest issue I had was that the rulebook wasn't as easy to follow as I had wished. It's not bad, by any means,, but there were a few places where I wished they had been a little more specific and explicit on what happens.
    But I think you can really get into this theme, especially if youre that person who likes to read flavor text and get immersed. I won't necessarily think this is an instant classic of a two player game, like something like Lost Cities, but I really recommend the game. There's a lot of room within the system for interesting stuff!
    They are currently gathering suggestions for cases to make more expansion cases, I'd expect that that will also be on kickstarter later this year.

    I like this game too. The questioning phase is really neat. The way you chain together your cards to your benefit is really thematic, I think. Like, you'll start off your questioning of the opposition's expert witness by asking them an evidence or logic-based question, then slowly transform your line of questioning into an emotional appeal to the jury. You're using the witness not just for what testimony they can give, but for how they can give you the platform for planting some seeds in the minds of the jury. Very cool!
    I also like the Objection mechanic. It makes for a nice cat-and-mouse game, where you try to flush out your opponent's once-per-witness Objection by playing a nasty card, only to play a nastier card *after* they have used their Objection. I hate it when the reverse happens to me though. :P

    I think the jurors being cards rather than a board can be advantageous for players that have limited table space; they can arrange the cards as they wish rather than be limited by the shape of a board.

    Lawyer Up is such a great concept for a two-player duel game.
    I like how there are different strategy cards for the cases.
    I got the complete bundle for it, and very interested to see how the Witch Trial plays out.

      A retheme would be awesome and i agree, someone is going to do it for sure. But you bet that i'm gonna scream OBJECTION!!! at the top of my lungs while playing it. Well, maybe not, because noise levels and all that, but in my head i'll pretend like i did and get the most stupid grin imaginable while doing so.

    If you're shouting "Objection!," you've probably been playing more
    Phoenix Wright than you've been observing actual court proceedings.

    • @thedicetower

      Well, maybe not. "Objection" is yelled a lot in most lawyer TV shows, so that's probably more my speed.

  • @hucz
    @hucz Před 2 lety

    Played two games, won both and it felt like a two player Munchkin or Exploding Kittens. The gameplay was lacking and the obvious choices for strategy made it feel like both players were just hoping to get favorable cards to play or you'd lose the round and influence. Saving your most lethal cards until the end is also a pretty dominant strategy. 6/10

  • @fabipeter
    @fabipeter Před 3 lety +2

    For me this game was the biggest disappointment of this year so far. The gameplay wasn't interesting at all because most of the time it was just matching symbols on the cards. And there was almost no connection to the theme.

  • @seedywriter
    @seedywriter Před 3 lety +1

    The art on the cards looks incredibly inconsistent. I understand they can't use the same artist for all cards, but they swing too much from realistic to cartoony for me.
