  • Mix Moong dal and Urad dal - Makes tasty and healthy idli and dosa recipe | Breakfast | No rice Recipe.
HEalthy idli is a healthy and nutritious alternative to traditional idlis, made without rice grain(used flattened rice). These idlis are perfect for a protein-rich breakfast or snack.
    **************************************************
🥣Mix Moong dal and Urad dal RECIPE INGREDIENTS: (4 SERVINGS approx.)
1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
1 cup moong dal (split green gram)
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi seeds)
1/2 cup thin poha(rice flakes/flattened rice) *Alternative:: follow the below instructions.
    Salt to taste
Water as needed(I used 2 cup water for grinding) + extra for soaking
Oil for greasing the idli molds
    ▶️Instructions:
    Soak the Dal:
Rinse the urad dal, moong dal and fenugreek seeds thoroughly. Soak them together with in enough water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
    Soak the Poha:
Soak poha in water just before grind the dals. If you are using thick poha soak along with dals. Instead of poha you can use cooked rice or cooked millet.
    Grind the Batter:
Drain the soaked dals and fenugreek seeds. Add them to a blender or wet grinder with a little water and grind to a smooth, fluffy batter. The consistency should be like pancake batter.
    Ferment the Batter:
Transfer the batter to a large bowl, add salt, and mix well. Cover the bowl with a lid and let the batter ferment in a warm place for 8-12 hours or overnight. The batter should rise and become airy.
    Prepare the Idli Steamer:
Grease the idli molds with a little oil. Pour the fermented batter into the molds, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
    Steam the Idlis:
Add water to the idli steamer and bring it to a boil. Place the idli stand inside the steamer, cover, and steam on medium heat for 10-12 minutes. To check if the idlis are done, insert a toothpick or knife; it should come out clean.
Remove the idli stand from the steamer and let it cool for a minute. Use a spoon to gently remove the idlis from the molds.
Serve these fluffy and nutritious urad dal and moong dal idlis with coconut chutney, sambar, or any chutney of your choice. Enjoy!

Hey i actually made millet (banyard and little foxtail) idlis and did add sago and poha as well along with some horsegram but my idlis didn't rise during steaming and it turned out to be very sticky any reason for this so that i may improve myself next time?

    • @bhusanur.cooking
      @bhusanur.cooking  Před 11 hodinami +1

Too many factors may affect the outcome. The most common mistake I see is that millets are soft and dense, so they don't need many softening agents. Adding too much sago or poha can make the batter sticky. Use either sago or poha, but only in small quantities. Horsegram is quite dense and can affect the texture. Also allow to ferment the batter until fluffy. Hope this will helps😊

It is rice in different form - flattened into thin poha! 😃😄So idlis and dosas ( traditional ones at least , taste good only original way with rice and dal ground together )so what you used too is rice in poha form! 😊😊😄 But looks great thanks for making the video !
