So impressed with the growth you've shown from your roots as a humble EV towing channel. This is going to be the coolest build!
😅 dead
🤣
Roll Tide!
War Eagle lol
The internet remains undefeated!
Alex Jones agrees 😆
Honestly, making it a Dakar edition is a brilliant idea.
It would be brilliant if they have not done it multiple times already. This is just history repeating itself.
Super fun and a great use of the car that has high mileage. As long as it is affordable to whomever wants it enough. It is a really good idea.
We designed it in FEV Aachen for porsche😁
yes, if he does it properly and not a hacksaw job by wizard
He should hooptie it up a bit, and put a roll-on Rhino Coating, he can even mix in some glitter as a homage to the car past.
Love the channel Hoovie! Just a heads up, your sponsor, ESTABLISHED TITLES is a scam, you do not actually end up owning a piece of land. It’s really just a novelty certificate. Do your due diligence before promoting or buying from them.
Cheers!
Hoovie, you have a reputation to uphold!!! You MUST do the ridiculous things, like a Dakar/Safari conversion. Somebody has to do it, it might as well be you. Plus, once it gets done and you show it around, you can take it to Barrett-Jackson and maybe flip it for something else that's unique (or totally ragged out). Watching the process would make for an interesting series of videos.
The gas smell is coming from the "top hat" in the frunk! The fuel sending unit lives under that cover, and after 20 ish years they start to crack and weep fuel. It's just 4 nuts that hold it on and you should be able to see the fuel puddling in the top of it causing it to smell. Happened on my 02 996 C4S and a new sending unit solved the issue.
Btw the Safari idea is AMAZING. DO IT!
You got to do this! And a paint job!
Safari and a wrap with Dakkar livery
sunroof motor banging around?
The Safari job is expensive because you’ll need a new differential ratio to handle the big wheels. Simply slapping on the wheels will make first gear fell like third gear.
Do the safari build! But PLEASE go all out! I would love to see you build something truly custom to your taste.
This is definitely my favorite truck testing/towing channel. Can't wait to see how much the Safari 911 can tow.
He might need to collaborate with MCM, the premier off roading channel on youtube
*Tyler should do a co-branded episode with _This Old Tony_. He's a machinist into motorcycle racing and he could machine you those 12 suspension pucks in six hours. He' probably machine a single rod to the right diameter then cut it into the right lengths. The bumpers would take him an extra day.*
It won't tow much, but it'll at least have more range than a Lightning.
hw couldnt even get that turbo up to 25 mph
I wouldn’t even consider buying a Baja Porsche 911 unless it could tow 10,000 pounds across five states without stopping. Otherwise it’s useless because everyone knows we all have to tow 10,000 pounds across five states without stopping at least once a week.
Reminder: Established Titles is a confirmed scam run by a company out of Hong Kong. The same company runs Deal Dash and Kamikoto knives. All are heavily advertised through CZcams sponsorships and all are extremely shady. I hope Hoovie thinks twice about who he accepts ad money from from now on.
@@om606channel A lot of CZcamsrs didn't.
Scam? Did you think you were really going to be a lord?
HE KNOWS AND DOESNT CARE, CZcams SAID 2 YEARS AGO ITS A CON, PLUS HE ADVERTISES BETTING APPS IVE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR THIS GUY
Hoovie, that puppy is the perfect car to safari/rally-macate! It's just beat-up enough to not feel bad about having some fun with it. I foresee an episode featuring dirt and/or mud coming up...✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
*You should turn it into a complete Dakar copy - including the paint/decals!*
Yep that'll hide the awful paint too , just gotta wrap it
That would be incredibly stupid. He should do it!
Do the Dakar, but on a budget. Fox shocks, basic body lift and some light trimming of panels…Hooptie approved
Absolutely. Do some research and buy the parts individually.
Yeah, I guess if you want destroy the wheel bearings, axles and tires. Turn it into a useless Baja Bug clone from the 60's complete with outrageous positive camber at both ends. Should be hilarious to drive before it tips over.
Yeah. Make is real for us what it's like to do a Dakar cheap. More interesting than just buying costly parts. I figure you can get 1.5in lift on most cars with spacers, low risk, but you'll have to adjust alignment and I think the rear suspension on a 911 is a little unique...
long time silent supporter here, I see you're getting a lot of support for this new crazy idea, it's nice to see you have such a great bunch of people around you irl and online. The Dakar build is not to my taste though. Best of luck to you Tyler. I'll surely be watching this as well.
Hey Hoovie, love the content! I wanted to reach out to let you know that Established Titles has been exposed as an extremely problematic scam sponsorship!
It's such a shame so many CZcamsrs have fallen for this.
Truth
He doesn't care.
As if he doesn't already know it's a scam. He knows.
As an off-road enthusiast, I'd love to see the Dakar conversion of this 911! I think it would be great content and seeing such a unique build would be awesome.
Doing a stage back to Vegas with the Wizzard strapped next to him as his navigator would be the best.
Of course it's not your money. lol
Same.
First track it, then Dakarafari it
Would love the conversion done with a Darkaresque paintjob/wrap
This is a great project, Tyler! I definitely think you should go ahead with the rally conversion. You could also deal with the paint job issue by covering it in rally livery and stickers! Maybe even get a little sponsorship by putting other CZcamsrs' stickers on there?
Rally conversion then put it against a new one
I think it needs to be as tall as Matt's old one but 12/10 would love to see a safari porsche and it would be great for those Kansas winters. I'm excited thinking about it driving through the deep snow without issue
The Best videos are: your daughter picking purple to paint the other Porsche, and seeing her happiness when it was done. (You rocked in Dad mode!)
Yes! This is exactly what I was hoping you'd do with it. Love off-road cars that weren't meant to be off-road cars.
I'm SO here for turning this into an off-roader!
Owner of the Plum Crazy 911 here. That is not ruined for sure, it's awesome and everyone who sees it loves it.
RAISE THAT BABY UP!!!! I think it would look cool. Good luck on the project.
The back and forth with the Wizard never gets old. I smiled during the entire exchange.
Me too!😂
Definitely go for the Safari conversion and a Car Trek episode on converted rally cars would be awesome!
100% this
YES on the LIFT & Safari Conversion!!! Wizard can make & install some 2" lift pucks for a couple grand$$$!!! You are already IN BUSINESS!!! Face It! You are never really going to Safari that thing anyway. Looks are EVERYTHING!!!
Love it when the Wizard breaks out the pen light.
I agree with this off-road build. I miss the old days of when you modified your vehicles (Apollo 911, the Lexus Landcruiser, the Nitro Fast and Furious Prius and I think Porche Cayenne to name a few). The unboxings were fun and you have good taste in mods. It was always fun to see what you would bolt on next.
Please do the Safari conversion!!!! It would be so much fun to see the process and I doubt most of us got to see such a build on CZcams
All of the car’s issues appearing on Wizard’s shirt in the into is the most Hoovie thing ever.
I just love it when the Wizard starts internet shopping when Tyler brings him a new sad victim of a previous owners drivers abuse 😂, Rolex watches, Yachts and Exotic cars ! Go Wizard 👍
PLEASE make a Safari 911 out of that one, it for sure would be some awesome content!
Yep another vote for a Safari Porsche …. My favorite Porsche ever!
I say go for the Safari build. However, if you do, don't cheap out. Going off road will put much more stress on other components, so you should plan to replace those up-front. It's going to cost much more than just the suspension and tires!
You can actually buy kits to convert 911s for about $15K. It's a lot more common outside of North America and Europe to see an old 911 that's been converted in some manner for the local roads and conditions.
Yes, but half the fun is when Hoovie breaks things . . .
You have got to do this conversion Hoovie, it will be insane!
I love how "BUMPER" is projected on CarWizards belly.
Yes, Tyler, absolutely yes you need to do this. It’s a spectacular idea, I’m 100% behind turning this 996 turbo into an off-roader.
$17K?! If you can spend that plus the wrap for the final product and sell it on for a profit, then yes go for it! At least you'll spruce this worn out 911 up for a new life!! Thanks so much for sharing your fun hooptie adventures with us!
I love the concept, but no way a 2 inch lift and some extra weight in steel is worth 17 grand. And if the kit really is all that, then frankly, this car isn't deserving of the mod. I say find a cheaper route to making this a world-class field-hopper.
You should know that the word 'profit' has no place in this channel. ;) Or maybe you meant selling to a prophet?
There’s no way there will ever be a profit on this car. The off road kit would likely lower the value / keep the value the same as what it’s already worth now.
The 17 thousand dollars is only in parts that is explained in 18:36
You need to fix it.....then donate it to our foundation (tax deduction) to auction it off so we can use the funds to distribute to no kill K-9 shelters.....save a car to save some dogs.....😁.....or to gift to some children groups...Make A Wish or St.Jude....or Lotus House here in Miami....from Vegas trashing to benefit dogs and kids....👍
If you want to lift it, just get another cayenne turbo..lol. build one back to original or even mild street with some mild upgrades to make a solid driver.
IT would be a lot of fun to drive. Go for it Tyler. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I would LOVE to see you turn this into a budget 911 Dakar! I saw the video commercial for the new Dakar trim before the price and I got my hopes up it wouldn’t be outrageously priced lol
Also you could leave it stock height with some cheap metal skid plates and just do the vinyl wrap/ basket / tires to see how close to capable you can make a 90% off 911 to the new Dakar.
A safari build with like a simple wrap on it (personally I think that a sand colour would look quite nice) with the retro safari lettering along the bottom of the door would look nice.
Seconding the sand color but make it spray-on bedliner and DON'T polish the headlights. Sand the taillights to match. Desert Derelict style.
@@Hard_Right did that seem smart in your head? Bless your heart
@@Hard_Right both is good, in the U.S they say color and UK says colour i believe.
@@Hard_Right you realise Americans only started to spell colour differently because with less letters it was cheaper to print in newspapers etc….
@@Hard_Right just because one English person agrees the American spelling is better doesn’t mean anything, Americans may think the English version is better. The fact is the monarch’s English is the proper version. But there’s not much difference between the two so calm it down.
You MUST do the conversion and enter a race with it!! Put a POV camera on it while racing it...Car Wizard as your Pit Crew...YEA!
DEFINITELY! And don't forget the off road safari racing full body wrap! Make it a SEMA build. Also... do the electric wing upgrade.
Honestly $17,000 didn’t seem like such a high price for all the safari parts. I think I would be a cool build. Go for it Hoovie !
17k buys you 2 Subaru Bajas 💀
@@thetechfromheaven so... one to drive and one for the mechanic to fix. Perfect!
Why you Cheap Charlie Hoovie? Have big house, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and act like you have no money. We have two eyes and see you are big money. Full Dakar conversion and blow it up within the first few sand dunes, that is what a showman or entertainer would do.
@@darqangelle5478 It's cheaper to take the drivetrain of a Subaru Baja and Jerryrig it with the 996
@@jbranche8024 I don't think he's being cheap. He's being realistic. Putting $17,000 into an automatic Porsche that has 200,000 miles, that's falling apart makes no sense. Even if you do own a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. The only way that makes sense is if you're a CZcamsr and a project that people will follow along. Not everyone is going to follow a Porsche Baja build. It comes down to business in the end. That's $17,000 in parts. That's not counting labor on top of his car that roughly cost 30K. That's not a cheap build. I don't think he's saying he can't afford it but it has to make sense financially. That's how a business works.....
I'm so excited for this build! With the paint being so worn the possibilities are endless. I know what I would do with it but curious to see which direction you would go with it. I fell in love with Ed's Orange Off road Cayenne he had for Car Trek. So I think this could be an epic response to that! I can't wait to see what you do with it. Not only that, this could be your winter beater build so to speak.
Are you thinking Rhino liner?...cause I sure am!
@@tsgorman definitely is a viable option but I was thinking an olive or tan color rhino liner kind of military desert rat theme
@@00DUCK Yes. I commented before watching the entire video and reading a bunch of comments. I agree with your idea!!!
A+content love seeing what trouble you get yourself into in each video highly impressive car dealership you have damn sick collection
Huuh, "Lord Hoovie." That was hysterical. I almost shot my drink out of my nose! There's no doubt why Hoovie's Garage is my favorite CZcams channel. The sense of humor portrayed on Tyler's channel, with comic relief support from "The Car Wizard," is absolutely priceless! (Oh yeah, plus two grand to fix the hydraulic spoiler....well.... that's not gonna happen.)
Do it! It’s crazy for a “normal” person to do but it’s a perfect Hoovie project!
This lamb concurs.
LOVE the safari idea! I would love you entertaining us on Off Road trails!
Love your videos and shows! Keep up the awesome content!
Honestly seems like a good little car I would like to see it as a clean simple and "cheap" build
Porsche did a lifted 996 turbo and it was driven across the Australian outback in 2000. They installed 200mm thick ally spacers between the body and the subframes. It was very cool. Do it! Safari/Dakar would be awesome!
Do it Hoovie! The conversion could lead to some great follow-on videos. You know a fellow enthusiast would surely pay what you have you have into it so they don’t have to take on the conversion themselves.
Yeah do it! You know you want to do it. It's only 17k for the parts, you will love it!
Think of all those harsh winter days when you could use a capable AWD in the snow, and you could be zipping around in style, with heated seats (once they are sorted), without having to resort to some sort of drug ridden Stellantis SUV (although I like that one too). Dakar conversion would be the coolest Porshe ever, especially with a hooptie rally paint job. You already need sway arm links and CV axles anyway.
Tyler watching your financial ruin always brings us great joy. So go for the Dakar conversion and know that you are bringing your subscribers such holiday cheer!
I couldn't have said it better myself! And then turn around and sell it for half of what he has into it! It doesn't get any better!
Counterpoitn: Gemballa yellow 997 Chinese body kit for the Turbo. Including the wing. Then get a Cayenne Turbo for the overlander stuff.
Would love to see this build! 😍
This is an amazing idea. Haven’t been this excited for something on your channel for a while
Agreed 👍
Oh yes! We'd love to see you make your car into a Dakar version of itself!
The Porche 996 has been one of my favorites. I think it would be cool to do the Safari conversion but that is a hefty chunk to spend.
Yes, please do the conversion! It will rock in the snow.
From the moment you unveiled this car and exposed it's condition I thought this would be a perfect candidate for a Baja tribute Porsche but I didn't think you had this kind of full custom build in you for this channel. Glad I was wrong!
Modifying the Porsche seems like a good idea!! Keep it up Tyler!!
Regards from Spain!!
Oh the fun we’re going to have with this. Back woods, turbos spoolin, hair on fire. Let’s go somewhere other than the wizards!
Do it ! I would love to see you in the future off road that thing have fun !
That’d be a big hellyeah for the Safari conversion! Way more interesting than just another restoration!
Sounds like a great idea and that's the perfect donor platform to do it on. You could even save some bucks and instead of painting, do a wrap with different colors to emulate a sponsored off road runner. Go for it.
God, I hate wrapped cars with a vengeance. Just spend the damn money and paint it.
Hey! I really love these 911 turbo's. I live in a very rural area in northwestern Ontario, Canada (only a few hours away from Winnipeg) with TONS of long gravel forestry roads that actually make for awesome driving with plenty of corners and hills with beautiful forest scenery. These roads are however usually pretty rough... It would be FANTASTIC to see a powerful high end car such as this porsche with a 3 inch off road lift/suspension package. We have mostly pickup trucks and the odd suv/jeeps around here. I drive an older F150 5.4 3v (had to say it for the wizard) that I have locked and tuned the variable valve timing system so it doesnt work, along with some other engine mods this has bullet proofed the engine. With my 3 inch lift and 35" tires these graveI roads are pretty fun. My point is however that where i live no one even owns a porsche! I want to see this 911 turbo ripping on some gravel backroads! It would be so much fun to have that type of car turned into a sort of high end rally speed machine! It would destroy a subaru WRX. Please go ahead with the mods! UUUUGH im excited like a little kid thinking of the high power short wheel base absolute ripper that car could be! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!
I have been with you since the beginning Hoovie.....Dont Do It .Don't offroad this 996 get it sorted don't bother with Spoiler etc. Drive it make Videos with it
.......thats it .
That rear spoiler could be as simple as a dusty micro switch.
The switch is on the right hand (US passenger)side under the spoiler lid, had a black cover. Pop the cover off, contact clean abs see what happens.
From one Hoovy to another Hoovie...I approve to build it up to a safari spec. It would be even more awesome to see you participate in an off-road event with it!
⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
That's a great idea!! Have it compete!!
Yesssss make it a super powered sand buggy or something. Maybe not a full safari build but like those old VW dune buggies but with WAY more power.
I'd just have a 911 Turbo beater project. I don't mind those transmissions at all for GT style trips or traffic. Well I would have bought something cheaper to build as a beater but I'm not Hoovie.
Putting that much into a conversion for this car seems like it's just burning the money. I like the idea a lot, I built an AWD rally car using a super beetle shell over a custom chassis for the 1.8T quattro power train with front engine and rear rads/cooling. About as close as I would get to something like this Porsche.
Sounds like Tyler wants to be prepared if Ed and Freddie are thinking about doing another offroad Car Trek adventure :)
I LOVE this idea! Goes back to my love of the old Tamiya 959 Dakar RC car.
Go for it! Sounds like a fun build.
Do it Hoovie, watching the conversion on CZcams will be fascinating 👍👍👍
I think this would be very unique and fun project. Not to mention the fun you'll have when it's actually completed. We'd all love to see this conversion!
I find it hilarious when Wizard's scanning the internet for expensive luxury goods just as Hoovie is about to pay the huge bill !!
We love when vehicles are changed to be enjoyed a different way.
HOOVIE!! DOOO IT!! I have always wanted to do that! they look soooo incredible! its amazing that you are willing to do it! btw. the more Porsche content, the better !!!
I think the off road idea is insane and I must see it! I would love to watch you turn that thing into a crazy off-road beast!
This is an amazing idea and you won't be affraid to take it offroad because of the "questionnable" paintjob 😆
Great idea Hoovie. The 996 turbo is a less than wonderful car and yes I did have one, with at 540 HP engine, which made it plain scary. Converting it to a Safari is a wonderful way to kill it off more rapidly and have fun in the process.
Can't wait to see it lifted and looking all rally style.
i say go for it! I would love to see the build and result. love your channel and its nice to see you put a positive spin on things that would make most grown men cry like a baby.
Do it Hoovie! Off-road it!
I love the Omega wizard searching for Omegas to take home.
Yes yes and more yes!!! Can’t wait to see the final product of the off-road 911
Love safari builds but would prefer to see a budget build than a high end kit
i suggested tyler contact Matt.........
www.youtube.com/@SuperfastMatt
Big this, maybe not cheapo but at least reasonably prices
agreed
maco paint job
and flip it for profit at auction?
absolutely - do a neglected, high mileage Porsche Turbo "budget", into an off-road look. then; drive it up & down neighborhood streets & dump it asap.
Like the idea of the conversion!
You should definitely do the conversion it’s gonna turn out great also I wanted to mention the credibility of established titles it’s not my place to talk about how good they are as a company but there are numerous videos talking about their practices which are potential scams
That is the best idea you had in a long time, can’t wait to see it come together
I didn't know I wanted Hoovie to build a Safari 996, but here I am.
Do it, Hoovieee!!! It will be awesomely interesting! Greetings for you from Bulgaria!
Forget the Conversion. Fully Restore to Stock! Then you KNOW The Wizard will want it!! Boom upside down to right side up in one fell swoop!!
Do the safari conversion and wrap it in a truly wild color, can't wait to see it rolling around the city.
Think Austin Powers......
Most definitely do the Dakar 911!!!! Best idea yet!!
The Delta4x4 911 conversion kit (in Germany) is amazing. Love a lifted 911.
Great idea. Something different than you've done in the past. Should be a cool project to follow.
I’m a hard core manual guy but for off road slow speed stuff *when you’ve got no low range* it seems to me that a slush box is a great compromise. I’ve never done true off roading or crawling though! I’d love to see this experiment
I had a manual one.....and as much as it never made me fall in love with it.....one thing i could never say was it was lacking in low range.....these things will chew up a 305 pilot sport with any hint of angle like nothing else from any RPM on the dryest stickiest tarmac you put in front of it.
There is a reason why the homologation special Montero came with an automatic.... Or why rock crawlers are automatic, and why Bajas are auto...... Manual is super challenging in any form of off-road motorsport..... The quattro S1 was the first dual clutch.
Definetly do it, and you need to add a martini livery wrap to it. Surely if you sort the mechanicals, add the kit, and get it wrapped it'll be worth more than the sum of its parts! You'd be maybe $60k in but surely with the rarety and the recent porsche announcement you'd be inline for some profit.
The rattle is at the back of the headliner, you can see it on camera at 6:45
This is my favorite CZcams car channel because of these crazy ideas, yes to a Porsche safari conversion
Absolutely do it! Those era 911’s are a dime a dozen. A Dakar version would be truly rare.
