Yeah getting points from blow through strikes is something I exploit against new fighters all the time. Also even some experienced fighters just let you get points off their elbows form keeping them pointing out while on guard in longsword
Definitely!! I think over the years sword and shield for buhurt has become much faster, but these SCA guys out here still hang with us and have insanely good defense
You definitely can. I tend to guard with the tip overlapping the outside of my shield to be stronger overall, like if you understand the concept of the strong and weak parts of your sword? But in general for this video, it's kinda mocking people who only just hold it right there for no reason other than that's what they saw someone else do. And trying to teach what it is supposed to be
In iaido we teach this with Bokken and after 2 or 3 head strikes as their guard hits them because they don't go high enough they soon get he idea
Ha, that's a good way to learn a lesson 😉

That's the best 😆 ❤️
I love getting those elbows and just take a step back. Now I have another point haha
"This is geometry or something"... prolly yes... donno why I had to laugh so much about that. But thx
LOL thanks, yeah I just talk sometimes how it looks like in my head, reminded me of high school geometry pictures 😆
It does help to learn basic swordsmanship, this is definitely not the SCA.

wouldn't you want to guard at an upward angle so you have more leverage?

Half right LOL
Better than not at all right lol
