Seal of Orichalcos is pretty broken. You lose your soul if you lose the duel. That's nearly as broken as Pot of Greed. At least with this one nobody knows what it does.

Memes aside, anime orichalcos would be good though not completely game changing. But the upper deck version would be top tier broken since it had a hand trap discard effect that would negate and destroy any card/effect.

It really doesn't really have that many effects of its own, a lot of what people remember is Marik using bs asspulls with other cards or plot related stuff. Perhaps the dub is also to blame, a lot of people claim that they can't be tributed or bring up the god hierarchy but none of that stuff is actually present in DM.

Biggest thing that upsets me about the real Ra. Ra is a Phoenix/Dragon. In the Anime Marik would constantly revive it from the Grave. When revived from the Grave it gained a bunch of effects, including God Phoenix Mode. So, what does Konami do when making the legal Ra? Make it the ONLY God Card that cannot be Special Summoned... -_-'

Mijnisme Uh, to clear 5 monsters, Ra would require 5000 lifepoints.
And would die at the End Phase. Kinda seems like a terrible investment. At best, you'll need to waste a card to get Ra into the Grave.
Waste a card to revive Ra
Pay 1000 per Monster, and all for a removal that targets, meaning a lot of cards aren't even effected by it.
At that point, just run Ruin, King of Demise.

One thing I never really understood whilst watching the anime is how the hell that version of Toon World works. I was pretty hyped when I got the card irl in the Pegasus starter deck but all it said was "pay 1000 life points" and I was like wtf.

    • @kingofgrim4761

Pesky Spider Quest it was so cheese. You could hide your monsters inside of it, they couldn’t be destroyed without being “tied up” by shadow spell or when toon world is destroyed, if you get ahold of an enemy monster you can make it your own toon version. Mixed with the IRL effect of it where you can attack directly.

    • @JoshuaWebbs
      @JoshuaWebbs Před 6 lety +8

All the effects of toon world in the anime was placed on the monster card effect in the TGC. Toon world just allowed the monsters to be on the field. It was just worded so bad the characters in the anime we all thought toon world was an invincible card. Alot people complain about making up the rules in season 1 but if you really pay attention to effects they have it's not that far off from the TCG effect.

Anime Toon World's effect is basically "all your monsters become Toon monsters."
Toon monsters, in the anime at least, are the same as their normal counterparts, except with protection against attacks and some other things. The downside is the same as in real life: if Toon World is destroyed, so are all the Toons.

Here’s two notable ones if you ever do this again:
    Number 69: Heraldry Crest
Cannot be destroyed by battle, except with number monsters. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. While this card is faceup on the field, negate the effects of all other monsters in the field, and if you do, this card gains those monsters’ effects. Once per turn, if your opponent declares an attack, you can detach 1 material; destroy 1 Card they Control. (Forgot if it targets)
Hundred Eyes Dragon in the anime is harder to summon because of the Dark Synchro Mechanic (Dark Tuners subtracting their levels to make negative level Synchros) But it gains the effects of every dark monster in the GY. If it’s destroyed, you can add any card from your deck to your hand.
Edit: also anime Utopia Beyond, for making your whole field unaffected by card effects.

Multiply: Summon so many Kuribohs (ignoring the field limit) and the multiplication only ends if the opponent manages to defeat all that are currently on the field. Which basically cannot be done because in the anime even duringthe Battle Phase they multplied so not even those Asura Priest cards or the likes would not help.
Additional effect: If this card is activated with Kuriboh on the field, ignore the effect of Thousand-Eyes Restrict that does not allow attacks as well as position change. Also Thousand-Eyes Restrict always has to equip Kuriboh when its on the field and a monster is chosen to be an Equipmennt Magic Card.
Additional effect 2: If Fiend's Sanctuary is activated, summon 3 Tokens. They can all be used for Tribute Summons.

    1. Rank-Up-Magic - The Seventh One (Has absolutely none of the restrictions of the normal card)
    2. The Blazing Mars (Didn't have any of the restrictions of the normal card. Also it was just send any 1 of your monsters to the GY to burn for 500. At the time this could combo with Level Eater to burn for 2000, then could send itself and burn for another 500, then it could Summon itself back as a Level 8 again).
    3. Soul Exchange (Let you tribute up to 3 monsters. Didn't restrict your Battle Phase).
    4. Final Attack Orders (In addition to its normal effect, when activated, both players selected 3 cards from their Decks, and sent every other card in their Deck to the GY).
    5. Null and Void (A.K.A. Muko) (Could negate effectively anything at no cost).
    6. Riryoku (Halves the opponent's LP, then adds the lost amount to the ATK of a monster you control).

Another great draw card was Monster Recovery. In the real game it's pretty terrible: it's literally Reload that requires you to also shuffle back a monster you control for NO additional card draw. In the anime however, it gave up its Quick-Play status for a huge effect: you always draw 5 cards.
In that same duel another broken card was Mirror Wall. It negated any and all attacks your opponent would fling at you, like a super Gravity Bind that doesn't affect you and affects EVERY monster regardless of level (or lack of) or attack value. It was also guaranteed to halve the ATK of at least 1 opponent's monster (the one you activate this in response to), and anything else that for some reason would still declare an attack with this. Sure, just stopping your opponent from attacking doesn't win you the game, but a "you MUST do something about this or you will never win"-card without any sort of drawback or anything can't be underestimated.

Probably the one anime card that's better than it's TCG counterpart that I think everyone can agree would benefit from with its anime effect is Magical Hats.
In the TCG it's as follows: "During your opponent's Battle Phase: Choose 2 Spell/Trap Cards from your Deck and 1 monster in your Main Monster Zone. Special Summon them as Normal Monsters (ATK 0/DEF 0) in face-down Defense Position, Set the chosen monster if it is face-up, and shuffle them on the field. The 2 cards chosen from your Deck are destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase, and cannot remain on the field except during this Battle Phase."
In the Anime, you special summon three hat tokens, shuffle them with the monster that's being attacked, set each card face down, then at the end of your opponent's battle phase dispell your remaining hats and reveal your monster.
    Am I right?

About Ra, and most of these cards, look at them when they came out. When Ra was first shown in the Anime we were all normal summoning each other to death. So a giant beat stick that at minimum from 3 1k monsters for tribute would make it Blue Eyes that can pop monsters (something very rare and far between) and make himself over 10k! He is a walking OTK. Would it have saw play? Yes and probably banned instantly
Slifer the Executive Producer Anime plus Card of Sanctity makes him an in targetable 6k beater that kills anything not on the field (since Special Summoning wasn’t that big and lv4 monsters were over the 2k limbo). A tribute 3 monsters win the dual? Yes would see play and banned.
There are a lot of nuances when you look at these from the era they would have been printed. Konami was right saying that the God cards were too good to be real until they nerfed them into unplayable

      @double2254 Před 6 lety +16

Black Tim Howard Multiple outs to cards that cannot be targeted or affected by anything besides tributing them maybe Kaijus but they came much later? The outs people are thinking about are for the current God Cards that have no protection. All 3 could only be killed with raw power but considering the weakest one realistically from its anime effect is Slifer is a 3k beater with an average hand (3 cards). Play control and amass 4 or 5 cards in hand and it becomes a 5k card that kills 2ks before they hit they can do anything and unaffected by everything? That’s game winning, especially in a format where monsters were the weak link of the deck with dumb powerful spells and traps (3 PoG and 3 GC make it so easy to draw them) making it a really slow format.
We need to look at these effects and anime cards as they are in the show when discussing like this. This isn’t like how they are really so all the outs you are thinking of don’t work. You cannot Dark Hole it, you cannot Raigeki it, you cannot Thousand Knives it (lol), you cannot Mirror Force it, hell you cannot Solemn Judgement it (I know that came out later but point stands).
So again, what 5k beater did your DM Yugioh deck have to combat these cards?

One card you could look at is bullet&cartridge.
What it does is that when you activate it you mill 4 cards from the top of your deck. Then you draw 1 card and put bullet&cartridge face-up on the top of your deck.
It's second effect is when bullet&cartridge is face-up in your deck and you draw it, you have to discard it. So as long as you can activate some effect that allows you to shuffle your deck after activating it, it's essentially a better upstart goblin. Since not only does your opponent not gain life points but you get to mill 4 cards.
If they printed it maybe they could remove the draw 1 effect but keep the other ones intact, including it's downside. I think milling 4 cards off of 1 spell card is quite strong and with searching effects being so prevalent shuffling your deck is an easy task.

Fossil Fusion is a good example of a card that got better when it was printed,
Since a graveyard effect was added that wasn't on the original card,
Because in GX messing with the opponent's graveyard was a strong effect already.
Also Ojamuscle wasn't searchable in the anime, but is with the printed version,
As well as boosting it's current ATK, instead of Original ATK, which synergises with Ojama Country.

Idk, anime Egyptian Gods are way stronger than Towers and Towers saw successful competitive play. Kaijus don't even work on them so they really would just be a win condition. I think if you dedicate an entire deck to just getting your Egyptian God on the field, you probably could make something that is quite competitive. There really just isn't anything worth summoning atm that takes 3 tributes that guarantees a win against 99.9% all decks. The closest we saw to that in a format was Towers and Towers was banned and only came back after it wasn't really that hard to out.

What it does is that you need to mill the top 4 cards of your deck and then you draw. Then you put the "bullet and cartridge" card face-up on top of your deck. If you draw it then you sent it to the graveyard. It is a really strong card as not only do you get to mill but if you can shuffle your deck that turn through other means you even get to do it without any cost.

  • @superzenmodeman
    @superzenmodeman Před 6 lety +2

Ra's full anime effect would be even more broken.
"This card cannot be Set. You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card. The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. If this card is Tribute Summoned, its original ATK and DEF become the total respective ATK and DEF of the Tributed monsters. This card cannot be targeted by, and is unaffected by, Spell/Trap effects and other Effect Monsters' effects.
If this card is Special Summoned from the Graveyard: • It cannot be prevented from attacking under any conditions, and can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. If your opponent controls no monsters after this effect resolves, it can attack your opponent directly. • If Summoned in face-up Defense Position when a monster your opponent controls declares an attack, you can switch the attack target to this card. • It is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. The following effects may be activated at any time during the Duel: • Pay all but 1 of your Life Points to increase this card’s ATK and DEF by the total Life Points you paid. • Tribute all other monsters you control to increase this card’s ATK by the total ATK of the Tributed monsters. • Pay 1000 Life Points to destroy all monsters your opponent controls."
So basically, you wouldn't even normal summon it. You'd dump it to the graveyard and special summon it get to attack all your opponents' monsters and then attack directly. You could get it to as high of ATK as you want by paying LP or tributing monsters and just OTK without having to worry about anything.

You don’t have to pay all but one of your life points, you could actually pay however many you wanted, but it was only ever used that way... 0 times. But it was mentioned by Marik that you could pay as many life points as you wanted. Also, de-fusion. Ra is treated as a fusion monster after using its LP effect, and de-fusing it gave it 0 Attack points, and gave all of its Attack points to you as LP, even more than you paid, sometimes.
Obelisk is even worse when it comes to what its effect would do. The text would be shorter, but that’s nothing. You can sacrifice two monsters to burn 4000 damage instantly, or you can sacrifice two monsters to make it so that if you attack and the damage can’t be reduced to zero by some form, you win the duel. In the anime, this was called giving Obelisk “Infinite Attack Points.”
