  • Whether as an Egyptian Priest or the head of his own company, Seto Kaiba has stood as Yugi’s eternal rival and one of the only duelists capable of keeping up with the King of Games - Opposing Yugi’s belief in the Heart of The Cards by instead believing in the objective strength of his deck and his skill as a duelist.
And it’s for this reason that Kaiba is so iconic and well-loved, because no matter how arrogant he is, Kaiba always has the dueling strength and coolness factor to back it up, which is why we’re going to look at Kaiba’s ten most iconic cards, how Kaiba used their strength to his advantage and whether or not that power actually holds up in the real life game.

I feel like Kaiba is the only core group member that would succeed in real world duels. Everyone else running round talkin “heart of the cards” and getting lucky would get dunked on as soon as protag powers don’t carry. I consider all of his deck's iterations way too top heavy to have ever been remotely competitive in the real world. Think about it, at one point in the anime he ran three copies of BWD, Obelisk and several other high level monsters with very limited options to special summon them. Plus he had very little in terms of back row removal and only highly situational monster removal. He'd have to make substantial changes to his deck, so much that it could hardly be called a Kaiba deck anymore.

One of the most interesting part of original Yu-Gi-Oh was that, despite his philosophy, Kaiba actually had a closer bond to the Blue Eyes White Dragon than Yugi to ANY of his cards, making it an interest dichotomy with his philosophy.
İt was also a trend in Yu-Gi-Oh for a while: Manjoume talked with cards more than Judai (and had the amazing victory with Ojama Yellow), Jack defined Red Dragon Archfiend "his very soul", and Kite had the spirit of his brother in his ace card. Reiji and Revolver were the first rivals to actually have a more utilitaristic attitude.

When I first used it at my high school to play w/ my class mates, they always comment on how mine was different from theirs even though it was from the same starter deck set. While it's not a strong monster at all, there's one other fun nod to Kaiba's power and the power of the game in the early days. In both his very first duel with Yugi, and the duel against his "ghost," the very first monster Kaiba summons in Hitosumi Giant. In the very VERY early days of Yugioh, this was the strongest no-tribute monster, sorta like the earliest version of La-Jinn.
So Kaiba summoning it as his first monsters shows how not only can he basically get any cards he wants, but also "Yeah this isn't anything special anymore" like the show's basically foreshadowing Power Creep.

It’s interesting to me that Yugi’s list was mostly monsters (many/most of which have gone on to be archetypes into themselves) but Kaiba’s were predominantly back row. And the cards that weren’t back row were mostly single card beat sticks (the cards themselves not having an archetype) that he used strategically, but would have been threats at the time anyway. Obviously Blue-Eyes would spawn a huge archetype and Obelisk is part of the god cards family
Anyway here are some predictions for a Joey list in no particular order: Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Time Wizard, Gearfried the Iron Knight, Jinzo, Grave Robber, Graceful and/or Skull Dice, Flame Swordsman, Panther Warrior, The Claw of Hermos, and Rocket Warrior.

The manga doesn't exactly tell us when and how he acquires the other three copies.
It is possible that this happened before he met Yugi the first time, in which case it's reasonable to assume money was all it took to get them, so nothing was broken here, neither laws nor rules. Given how strongly he reacts to Sugoroku refusing the money, Kaiba seemed to expect that that would be all it took.
If Kaiba acquired the three other Blue-Eyes after that episode, while Yugi and friends have fun with other games before Duel Monsters becomes central to the story, then it's plausible for him to use more violent means, if money doesn't work. However, we don't see Kaiba ever cheat throughout the story, and given how strong a duelist he was supposed to be from the start, maybe he simply dueled for the Blue-Eyes and won (he'd only have to persuade three people in total, some of whom might have just taken the money).

Fang of Critias along with Power of the guardians and tyrant burst Dragon makes for a great combo during raid duels in duel links, what'd you do is summon a monster that deals double triple or 5 times damage then equpi power of guardians to that monster and then activate fang of critias with tyrant wing to summon tyrant burst dragon equip TBD to the monster and PLUS 1500 every turn PLUS the damage increases with every attack

What's wild is that it had to be nerfed twice to be legal in the TCG. It was nerfed from the anime when ported to the physical card game, got banned because it was still too strong and nerfed so it could come off the ban list.

I loved summoning 1900 lv 4 monsters and equipping an Axe of Despair while having field spell Mystic Plasma Zone, making my 1900 ATK lv 4 monster a 3400 demigod. 3400 was just a little too much to overcome. I was also one who used the elemental booster monsters (low lv monsters ranging from 400-600 ATK that boost ALL monsters of a certain type while simultaneously lowering that types contrary. Like boost dark types by 500 and lower all light types by 400). For dark types it's Witch's Apprentice, 550 ATK and boost all dark by 500 and lowering all light by 400. Throw in a +500 ATK dark field spell and most opponents never did the math and attacked it not knowing its actual ATK power. Witch's Apprentice with an Axe of Despair while Mystic plasma zone active makes his attack power a grand total of 2550. remember these monsters boost effects stack meaning more Witch's Apprentices on field means each one adds 500 ATK to dark and Lowers Light monsters by 400. So 2 of them on the field each with an Axe of Despair and Mystic Plasma zone active means if u attack with Blue eyes, Blue eyes is defeated. I had to explain this alot. I loved using Call of the Haunted to bring these guys back. Only REAL downside is worrying my opponent used dark type monsters. I mean one Dark Magician and you're looking at a GOD. Real trick is to stack bottomless trap holes for such situations or Magic Cylinder and make him regret attacking.

I don't blame you for overlooking the errata'd CCV, but it only allows the opponent to destroy monsters with 1500 or more atk from their deck and not any. So, you can't destroy merrli with it (not that it would be your prime target if it could).

I would have loved for Enemy Controller to have a secret effect in the anime. If you put in the code Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, center button(I presume it's the Start button), You can Special Summon a level 7 or higher NORMAL monster from your hand.
The reason I say this is because Konami is the one who's publishing the TCG, So I think putting in the Konami code for that card would have been a nice little Easter egg.

Idea for a fang of critias retrain:
    Quick Play Spell
Reveal a Trap Card from your hand or field and a Fusion Monster from your Extra deck that mentions that trap card and "The Fang of Critias": Select and activate 1 of the following:
    * Special Summon that monster from your extra deck. This is treated as being summoned with The Fang of Critias.
    * Use that Trap Card's effect as this card's effect. (If that card targets, you must have a valid target.)
If a Set Spell/Trap you control would be destroyed by an opponent's card effect, or a Trap Card's activation or effect would be negated by an opponent's card, You can banish this card from your GY instead.
