    This guy needs more recognition!!? There should be a movie made about this guy!!?? Dude sniped over 500 soldiers!!!?? No other sniper probably even cones close to his #!!?? How is it snipers like Carlos Hathcock, and chris kyle r well known but this guy isnt!!?? And this dude did it with an old mosin nagant M28/30 without a scope and could pop off 16 shots accurately in 1 min....at a target 500 feet away...while having to reload his gun 4 times in process!!?? And he still managed to be insanely accurate!!?? And with a nickname like "the white death" this dude should be more well known and there needs to be a movie made about his life!!?? His story is Crazy & he deserves to be more well known for what he did!!??

Avoiding all-out artillery specifically targeted to end him (and having the skill to deserve the attention)? Check. Cheating death after being shot in the face? Check! Even refusing to die until the Soviet Union collapsed? You'll never guess... check.

      @@MisterBlaargh Thank you I was going to say the same thing. Scopes back then weren't that powerful but did work very good and did help a skilled sniper shoot farther. The average scope back then only has 2x magnification and a bolt action rifle. Regardless tho whether he used a scope or not the amount of kills he got will probably never be broken ever again. In total ppl estimated between all the guns he used he had around 800 to 1000 kills.

    • @RoyalMela
      @RoyalMela Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@MisterBlaargh He did not use a score because he was using his own personal hunting rifle and there just was no need to a scope. He mastered his own rifle so well, knew the distances accurately and was able to aim correctly.
      Also, when using a scope you lose most action outside the scope, but with iron sights you still have a great 180 degree vision and you don't lose focus and don't have to move to scout the battlefield in front of you.

      @@harrycline985😅 Funny to see your comment, because last couple months I have been try to think that what it would take, like I have think that what are the 'at least' needed things and stuff to be done and conduct, and with who etc to make a movie about Simo. Starting point is difficult because I am not anykind expert or professional, what it comes to movie production. Same time I also believe that this time in history, is maybe the best, or most likely to get like mediocore success with movie project like this. There are kickstarters and internet as an whole, to exploit for the movie's cause...I started to think it after I see finnish movie Sisu(2022). After I see sisu, and its relative success, I believe that so many things is possible nowadays, if u just are up on the task...

    • @ReneDescartes-hf9wb
      @ReneDescartes-hf9wb Před měsícem +2

      @@harrycline985 So what we need, to be starter seed of the project. Well, its kinda clear that u have to hire director, cameramen and whole crew. That made me think a necessity of kickstarter kind of monetize system, but its not the one and only right way.
      Anyway, we need vision. We need a concept idea of what kind of movie it going to be. I mention Sisu-movie again because that shallow drama and characters persona etc, was genuinely skipped, and all glory and artistic visions was handed to that splatter/pulp violence, but they nail it. That style would been perfect match with white death movie. Actually director of Sisu named two main inspiration to his movie was Rambo first blood and story of Simo "white death" Häyhä...

Old dude with M1 Garand walked in and made 3 practice shots with the Barrett before signing up in the competition. He said he needed that because it was his first time seeing that rifle and he hasn’t fired anything aside from his Garand since 1990. He stormed through the sniping competition with ease never missing the bullseye against modern men who use modern scopes and gears. Plain old farm clothes and leather gloves taking that gold medal and prize money then walked away.

    As your army approach from the east, a hunter is switching his prey

    Tracks you down, you cannot hide once he is on to your trail
    Enter the night, a flash in the darkness, White Death is heading your way
    The fear of his foes, a hero at home, hundreds will fall by his gun
    You’re in the sniper’s sight, the first kill tonight, time to die
    You’re in the bullet’s way, the White Death’s prey, say goodbye
    After the dawn when morning has broken, snow once white turned to red
    Blood red snow tells what happened last night, a tale of a sniper is born
    Snow in mouth hiding his breath, he is steady at hand
    Eye to eye, target in sight, the moment to fire has come
    Hundreds of kills. a man and his rifle embody the sisu of Finns
    Stay out of sight and cover your head, when he pulls the trigger you’re dead

    Thank`s again, for a good video.
    Some things to get "right" though:
    The map of Finland lacks, Karelian isthmus, parts of northeastern Karelia and the "right arm of the Finnish Maiden"= up towards Murmansk/Petsamo.
    And, not to forget, Simo Häyhä, used his "Brush", a.k.a:Suomi machine pistol, for "cleaning up" in russian trenches. These numbers are not included in those 500+, confirmed kills.
    And, finally, he was shot with a exploding ammunition, forbidden in Geneva Convention, which russians didn`t care much about, as always. Take a closer look at Ukraine today.

    He forgot to mention that Nagant M/28-30 is also a bolt action rifle, the animation suggest Häyhä was using a semi automatic rifle, so this gives an innaccurate picture of his shooting abilities.
    A bolt action rifle requires you to basically reset aiming between EVERY shot.

    • @vitzveer
      @vitzveer Před 6 měsíci

      You still have to reset your aiming after every shot in an automatic rifle as well due to the recoil.

      @@vitzveer Lets not pretend that shooting fast with a semiautomatic and a bolt-action is the same thing.

    • @vitzveer
      @vitzveer Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@sugibudder yeah, it's not the same, but he didn't need to shoot fast. He needed accuracy and the bolt rifle is much more accurate than the automatic one.

    • @sugibudder
      @sugibudder Před 6 měsíci

      @@vitzveer To get 16 hits in a minute you do need to shoot fast, you dont meet many people today that can do the same with a bolt-action rifle, just search the internet for other people attempting it.
      Also he did need to shoot fast sometimes, after the first shit the enemies would quickly scatter or start to run away, meaning he had a limited time window to kill them or they would get an opporturnity to call for back up which might include artillery or armored vehicles which Simo was defensless against.

    • @vitzveer
      @vitzveer Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@sugibudder 16 hits in a minute can be done by the expert like him with a bolt rifle.
      Just to be clear, I agreed with what you said that they inaccurately made it look like he used a semi-automatic rifle,. I just pointed out that you would have to re aim the semi automatic rifle every time as well, that's all.

    Pegahmagabow may not have Simo's impressive kill count, but the man was the original troll of the trenches during WWI.
    Sneaking into enemy trenches, stealing their medals, cutting pieces of their clothing while they slept, and according to some (though not confirmed to my knowledge), even standing behind sentries on watch.
