Almost done with the game and had to comment the best characters are the shark people LOL I was cracking the hell up in the twinhorne scene such a vibe 😂
They are the goats, my favorite characters by far! Hope they show up in the sequel someday
Hakugin has been in my party since i got her. poison, speed and strength plus a 2 sp attack that hits a row of enemies
I'm not gunna watch this video till I finish the game but man everytime I mix up the characters and add new ones it's like a breath of fresh air and pretty fun to see there attacks and skills!
I've been starting to really like Hakugin. Like her character and her attack animation. She is super fast and love the low cost ability to hit an entire row. Finding her so much better than her "hero combo partner" Mio. She is great to soften up a front row and your other characters clean up

Garr can do some decent damage with the warriors pinnacle rune, not Momo/Leene levels, think I saw in the 6-800 range.
I like the muscle trio: Dijkstra, El Alicante and Maureus.

I never hear about Milana. She's saved me so many times with her darkness and earth rune and her AOE that breaks armor. Is she bad and I just don't know any better?
I used her a couple times and she's definitely a solid choice. Great bulk for a back row character and can dish out respectable damage too.
I def think that Scarlet is awesome. She is faster and hits harder than Yuferius/Yusuke in my experience. I think she is the best of the Charge Up characters.
I agree that the individual SP moves are cool to look at and fun, but they are just bad when trying to aim for the most damage. The reason Scarlet is so much better than Yuferius/Yusuke is because she isn't bogged down by chained rune slots and she has all 4 rune slots available in the best category (Enhance).
Also, not sure if there is any love for Lam out there, but that old lady is a BEAST!

I do like Yuferius’ rune lens attack but it takes wayyy to long. I only use characters that have fast attacks now

Scarlet and Riufan have been a big one for me. Also, I can’t seem to stop putting Hakugin in my party, but I’m pretty sure she’s very high tier lol…those stats….. meanwhile Mio is completely jipped lol 😂

I would love to see a few things to make it simpler, yet better on the system. (Balance would be easier due to the number of heroes). Like you said unique abilities at 1 or 2 that open up over leveling. Elektra for example, should have had a fencing animation. ( I mean just placing the boring thrust/feint on her that's all) to counterbalance this. I would have made the lens be 3/4 slots like Suikoden and Based on the type of hero then focus on physical runes (Double beat/Crit/M.Sword) or Magic base (Fire/Earth/Dark). The SP system could still all be tied to this. This would also reduce sending too much time in the runes to slot and figure out how to optimize heroes.
Another thing I would have done is if they were gonna make MP hard to refill. I would have cut down on the cost of spells. Used the SP system to boost spells as an option along with a slight increase to MP for every boost. 2 examples

I enjoy Zabi because of his character. Barnard is actually kind of sad to me since I like his look, his voice and character and he has one of the coolest attacks. Sadly he has mediocre stats, the worst weapon even at level 15 and his lenses are not many or high quality or unique.
so, I love him. but choosing him is definitely using a suboptimal character in battes.
I wish you didn't get CJ so late in the game, as she's definitely an underrated fave for me with the whole Rising crew! Would have loved to see her reactions to earlier events in the game to be honest!
I agree, I think she should have popped up way earlier. I also thought they would be a part of the main story a bit more.
6:00 100% agree. That way each character can have their unique identity and skill. Without it, why would I take out yuferius or Momo?
I 100% agree too, especially here in 2024. If it was the PS1 era, then maybe this lack of character gimmick would still be okay, because having 100+ characters in your roster was a novelty during that time. But here in 2024, we have so many gacha games with 100+ playable characters. And although their economic model is mostly questionable, they all do a better job than Eiyuden when it comes to give each of their characters their own gameplay.
So when you experienced those gacha games at least once, and you come to Eiyuden, you feel that immense lack of unique identity in the roster.
The Viktor reference works for Garr, I wish we got more of him

For some reason as much as I wanna free up her spot for someone else I love lam she is such a beast,I'm about to start playing with Benard something keeps pulling me to him tp try him out, his level 10 weapon stat being under 20 when characters like lam and momo ha e a attack power over 50 at improvement level 10 so I'm not sure of that means much but idk I'm still new lol
I gotta agree on the idea of the skill rune slot, but for a different reason. The most disappointing thing for me has been getting near the end of the game, and you start getting all these new lens for magic, passives, and skills. And they require level a level 3 or 4 rune lens slot to be able to equip. Particularly with skill runes, I've scrolled through the list of characters looking to see who can even use it, and very few will get a customizable skill rune slot or 'all' slot above even a level 2.
For example, while there's a large number of characters with the Smash attack type, there's only 2 characters in the game who can actually equip the level 4 smash skill, Charge Smash. That would be Yume and Perrielle. And only 1 in the game can use the skill rune Rapid Shot (Aelior).
Also, RIP to the characters who only get 4 rune slots (or less technically because one is a skill), none above a level 2, and their stats are also still low on average compared to others. It really does kind of pigeon hole you into using the stronger characters since there's a large lack of customization to even help the weaker ones.
Oh man 100% I wanted to throw Clairvoyance on Mio, buts its 3 start and she only get one 3 star rune slot, and that goes to her dex. :(
Almost two weeks late on this comment, but I agree with the disappointment at what I consider a "Star Level" of runes. I think it's fine to have them restricted to type, but they should throw the star level away to allow people to keep playing more comfortable characters rather than, potentially, feeling you need to swap characters out to upgrade. Admittedly, I'd have played with my boy Gigina in through to the end... if only I could equip him with runes past 2*. If I could get the Increased Stun Chance (50% instead of 20%) rune and Warrior's Pinnacle I could figure I'd try it, but his stats were low and his rune slots subpar, so I felt I had to switch him out or cripple myself.
Heck, when I got Foxiel I quite liked her and had put her as a backline healer because she had a 4* any rune so could put the highest magic on it and I'd love to swap her to a more dedicated mage by giving her Mage Path, but she only had 2* runes for the other slots.
Viktor was my favorite in Suikoden 1 & 2. Flik was my second favorite. They don't make them like that anymore unfortunately.
Quinn is basically a female version of Dr Ido from the anime battle angel alita.
I'm a big Suikoden fan, but I'm sad to say I kind of hate Eiyuden Chronicles. I think it has a bad story, worse combat, unexciting music, and glitchy controls. I also greatly dislike the blurry backgrounds. What were they thinking?

I kinda agree on this. While I'm still thankful for this game, it doesn't reach the bar that is Suikoden, especially Suikoden II.
Story is rushed (Nowa's rise to leadership and his friendship with Seign are two examples) and average, bad balancing (most heroes combo = useless), glitches and bugs (omelet and coconut water for all cooking contest?), etc.
Hopefully they took note of all this if they're developing Eiyuden II.
Agree with most except the music. It's the same whimsical jrpg music that I always enjoy.
This game is not a good representation of suikoden.
I think people's problem is they are comparing to Suikoden. It's not and never will be that good. You have to step back and see this game as a separate game.
I felt like they should of had more supports and battle characters. It's bs that Vordice, Goldwyn, Galldur, and Kassius aren't in there. I mean Kassius and Galldur are support but there suppose is awful.
