  • In Episode 27 of Restoring Christine, we brace up the body, lift the body from the frame and build some temporary supports to hold it up while we replace the floor and trunk pan!

    That background ROCKABILLY music is AWESOME!

      Isn't it? LOL! I've used that Rockabilly intro and outro on my videos since about episode 10. And I do a lot of hyperlapse recording with music on top of it and I try to find the roots of rock and roll or blues music to play. Believe it or not, it's tougher to find than you might think! So much "rock" music that's published for CZcams is the modern blown-out overdriven electronic stuff, which doesn't fit the vibe of Christine or my channel!

    Amazing. One guy, single garage, 100% diy; you are the real thing in hot rodding. I am starting the project with my 56 soon and this has been very helpful. Thanks.

      Every now and then, Deuce finds a reason to get inserted into the plot line! His running mate is Josie, and she gets on camera if there is a BALL involved!

    I am about to do the same to my 51 Buick Special. But I will have it hanging for awhile on the ceiling since I am going to do frame work first! Was just looking at videos for some info and advice! Good to see some videos

      One thing I've learned is that most of what I'm doing is completely applicable to any other full-frame car, so it should be helpful to your Buick (isn't that the "Rain Man" car? Fireball Eight?) I'd love to see pics of your project!

      @@RestoringChristine1956 I think the Rain Man was a late 40s convertible, but close enough. Well I have a 50 Special as well and desire that body style more as well as the 50-53 Super's compared to the 51-53 Specials. But looks neat too when lowered. I still have a lot of work. Its probably going to be a 90-95% resto. I like the old paint but don't like too much rust and rotten spots

    Very well thought out and I see how critical the support system is to the success of the vehicle. Great video with detailed insight on how your moving thru these varied levels of the build. Looking forward to your level of progress in each new video.

      Glad you liked it! I was afraid it was a little slow after I compiled it. It's tough to balance between including a lot of explaining and time lapse. And thanks for not laughing at that trapeze!

      I'm told that I've always had a strange idea of what "fun" is! YES, getting frustrated in the garage with tools IS fun!

    Nicely done, I like to see how others do their twist on similar tasks. I plan on a rotisserie on my ‘57 so I can address things like wheel wells, and roof repair and still have what’s left of my back and knees lol.

      @RestoringChristine1956  Před 2 lety

      This is the second one that I'm doing frame-off, and before I used to think that a rotisserie was essential. But, what little I've had to do to the roof was at the edge and within reach, and both times the floor and trunk pan came completely out, so all of that was brand-new. But I understand about joints and aches and pains! Save yourself! Thanks for keeping up and best of luck with your project!

      we can make a rotisserie and share it. I have a trailer, and my ghia may need to be rotated... I'd like to help with electrical and upholstery on your project!

      I'm with you! When I did the Cutlass, I left ropes hanging from the ceiling at 4 corners even when I had it on the skids. Just for giggles and grins, I think I'll bring out the scales to see what it actually weighs. Be pretty cool to find out! And I was thinking about doing a video on just the frame now that its out. I'll have to look into the different varieties to be able to comment on what I'm dealing with. Each Cutlass frame rail was two C's that lapped together to form a box. This frame looks like a square tube with 4 sides.

    You want to save yourself some time money make it into a different color than Christine because it's not a Christine it's a two-door post don't waste your time he'll have a lot less value I respect the fact that you're trying to make one but don't waste your money now as far as the palate you said the palate do you do some of that why can't you put one in the trunk opening and just lift it up piece of cake

      FYI - I'm not trying to "make a Christine." The car has always been red and white and when my kids were little (almost 20 years ago) they thought it looked like Stephen King's Christine (which was actually a 58 Plymouth Fury), and they started calling the car by that name. I thought I wanted to change the color but by family wouldn't hear of it. They love this car in red and white and tell me that it wouldn't be right to paint her anything else.
