I'd make a basic version that's free and a paid version that has the lot value feature. Also price point matters. $5/month vs $20/month is going to drastically effect subscribers. Just my 2 cents
Very interesting. There's a LOT that goes into building something like this (much more than most people realize). Definitely make some time to discuss this with a few technical experts/advisors who've been down this road before. It will absolutely save you a ton of time (and you'll avoid more than one migraine). Cheers! 😎
I actually have been down this road before. To develop an app like this, you need solid front-end programming and UI skills. You also either need the skills to create your own databases to store prices and comps, or aggregate PriceCharting’s database. Finally, from the business side… PriceCharting is free for most things, so why does charging $10 a month make sense… what features justify that? Finally, keep in mind that if you pay others to do everything for you, it won’t turn out right. Why? Because others don’t have the dream. You do. My 2 cents.
Is it going to be for all types of collectibles? (Comics / Cards / Etc.) or just Games and game related items? Early in the development but might be good to think big picture/expansion opportunities... I know PriceCharting recently started to do comics and is very slowly increasing in popularity in the genre
You should offer discounts on longer subscriptions to the app. Example one moth $4.99, three months $11.99, 12 months $39.99. I personally hate seeing a subscription being taken out monthly. I like paying once for car insurance getting a discount and then not worrying about it for 6 months
Im excited for this!! I have price charter site saved to phone but cant scan. I use gameye most of the time just to see current valie but that doesnt show comps.
Was gonna say this lmao. It definitely has an app but is currently iOS only. Edit: seems like this video was filmed in May and the app may of been released in September.
Hi Caleb. I’m happy to help out with testing and UX feedback. My background is a generalist in customer support and the customer journey. I’m excited about this!
This would be easy to develop into a website to pull at that data into. This will bleed you dry developing your own app. While there will be some that use it I don't think financially you will make enough to recoup all your costs making the app.
dirty reseller is perfect.. It would probably be a generic name like Flip or some stupid misspelling of a word like flyp. Joking aside, good idea if it will work reliably and fast.
Pleeeeeease help localise for PAL (particularly Australian) games. CLZ games and price charting always give me the wrong values for things (usually too low) because they so often scan in as UK titles
I strongly think advertisements in app is the way to go with monetization of the app, simply because if you want this app to be available to people just buying video games in stores or for smaller resellers, a subscription is not very practical. Just my opinion.
Pricecharting and Ebay have PAL prices. The problem with Amazon is they're not selling older games in Europe (at least not in Germany or the Netherlands)
Think it's a massive financial mistake. The app could be useful but people won't pay a sub fee for it when there are alternatives out there that don't.
Why would you post this on your secondary channel instead of the main one that has 414K+ followers? Not trying to hate by any means, I just don't understand the decision when you have almost 400K less potential eyeballs on this channel.
Hi caleb i have a blue DS with a R4 card and a white 3DS hombrewed if you are interested of them i can make a deal with you i already tried to make a deal with cahse and CATRP crew but they told me that they dont take PAL games cause i sent them some PAL games for WII and PS3 with the consoles. i fyou are interested i can send you the picture and videos of the items.
you are saturating the market. what you dont understand is that because you are a youtuber, even though you are teaching everyone your business model, you will always have an advantage. because people will sell to you, knowing that they could also just start selling on amazon themselves. but for the average guy, teaching everyone and their mothers how to resell video games in the same ways and on the same platforms will just be bad for business and cause a market crash in the long run because the competition will become too extreme, which has already happened to a lesser extend during covid, which was compensated by the rise in demand. so by thinking you are 'helping' the community, you are actually having the opposite impact. just my thoughts.. coming from someone that owns a store. but you don't actually care about the true resellers and store owners, your youtube channel is where the actual income comes from. but from someone who is actually living off this, i will tell you, its not a good idea, and it doesn't 'help the community', it just hurts it.
To add to this, the opportunity in reselling of any sort comes from your product and sourcing expertise. Knowing prices, knowing what moves, what the best sales funnel is for said item, where to get it, etc.. It's a learned skill that gives you the advantage over others in the business.. If everybody goes off this app, then there is never a deal to be had, especially from other traders and especially when prices on the best sales funnels crash due to severe competition. I am glad I still have my physical location, but I am not counting on the future of my online funnels too much because of this.
“Your CZcams channel is where the actual income comes from.” Spoken like someone that obviously didn’t watch his breakdown of his income that he just did recently that clearly showed just a small part of his income comes from CZcams. Also what is a “true reseller?” You just seem mad he’s able to do what you do without the overhead of a store. You chose that route, he chose his. Now live with what comes with it.
@@TheGeekyUnlimited well obviously he makes money from the reselling too, my point is that he is fine without that income because of his youtube following, so his interests aren't aligned with those of the people he says he wants to help. he wouldn't mind ruining the video game reselling industry if it meant that his app is a success. its a conflict of interest. also, what a weird conclusion. i'm not mad, i am just worried this will do irreparable damage to the industry i feed my kids from. and infact, i did watch that breakdown video, but the point is, even if he made 0 dollars profit with millions in revenue, it would not be a disaster for him, since he has an income from youtube. And no, i'm not mad in the slightest, i love selling online aswell as in my store, online is just a lot more scalable. and if the info in the breakdown video was correct, i brought home about 4-5x more profit last year than he did off reselling. so yes, i will continue to 'live with what comes with it', in peace, but i think i am fairly qualified to have an opinion on the topic.
If only PriceCharting didn’t finally come out with their own app shortly after you recorded this.
Yeah this video definitely was recorded quite a bit ago, the office looks very different now lol
Edit: he just said it’s early May in the video lmao
Price charting isnt super accurate anyway from the times I checked it
@@holy_lettuce oh don’t get me wrong I’m very excited for Caleb’s app!
It’s actually been out for months now
Price Charting doesnt use Amazon data though? if his does that would be worth paying for...
I'd make a basic version that's free and a paid version that has the lot value feature. Also price point matters. $5/month vs $20/month is going to drastically effect subscribers. Just my 2 cents
I don’t think I’ll pay for an app considering 99% of people go off eBay and the eBay app
“The only problem is I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.”
I run two successful businesses and still feel this way every day.
Dude! I’m there day one. As a video game collector I would love an app like that. Thank you for all the amazing content, can’t wait to check it out.
Come on Caleb. You couldn't find an extra 3 seconds of footage? Gotta get that mid-roll bag. 😂
Yes!! This past week I've been looking around and thinking about how I need a new price check app like this!!
Please find a way for it to be free for casual collector. Im sure adds on certain tool would make your app profitable
Yeah like a free version with ads and locked features
Sounds promising. GL with your endeavor.

I’d love to see how this turns out. I’d def subscribe to the app if it realizes the vision.
Caleb with the innovation again good stuff
Make it available in Canada and I'll check it out. I've watched you long enough to know that you'll create something that makes you more money haha.
Hopefully there is an option to change currency for us up in Canada!
if the app isnt called Phoenix Rescan we have failed.
100%
Definitely
PriceCharting definitely has an app…might still be iOS only though
ya i cant find it in Canada for android
Yea not on Android in US either
Was gonna say this lmao. It definitely has an app but is currently iOS only. Edit: seems like this video was filmed in May and the app may of been released in September.
Anotherr great vid! YHX MAN!!!!
Caleb will there be a “free trial” period offered.
So us resellers can try it before committing to a subscription.
Thanks and keep up the good work 🙂

Price charting has an app now
Looking forward to this!
Please wear your external mic, a lot of times its hard to hear
Can I flip Caleb NFTs?

“On the Flip”
Pleeeeeease help localise for PAL (particularly Australian) games. CLZ games and price charting always give me the wrong values for things (usually too low) because they so often scan in as UK titles
Caleb making money
Price charting really made this not age well
Hoping you kept track of $$ it costs for dev / marketing and share.

If your app does exactly what you say it does, then I will be using it for sure.
Will it work in UK for pounds and PAL…. Or it is US only?
be quicker checking games etc at bootsales then lol

Hey 👋🏻 Retro Bird knows Timmy 😂🎉
I’m a software engineer. I’ve never made mobile apps but if you want to brainstorm I’d be happy to chat
will it be free or will it cost money?
He's doing it!!!!!
Think it's a massive financial mistake. The app could be useful but people won't pay a sub fee for it when there are alternatives out there that don't.
App name: PhoenixPrising
Why only make the app for video games?
Dose it just work with video games?
Does the video game app work with video games?
go Caleb go!
Cool!
Once price charting drops on android, u be out of buisness with the app thing
Anyone ever try the gameye app.?
PhoenixChart!
Goat
Take my money
Price Charting not only has a live app now but they have a 17 year head start on the process. Lmao.

I’ll market the app on the main channel once it’s ready. Until it’s out and up and running well I’m just sharing the journey on this one!
Thanks! ...i guess?
Early may???
Tap dat app I mean make dat app 😏

Game Up
Sorry Caleb, but These videos are boring. I like it more when you were hunting games
Sorry David, but you can't expect creators to cater to your boring needs a 100%
Sorry @@maartenn2217 this is what CZcams is. Cater to your audience for views and likes.
You're on the wrong channel. This is more of a reseller focused spot vs the main Phoenix Resale channel.
