    Hi Judith, I am José and I follow your channel from Portugal for quite some years. I love very much the fermented content you make. I have learned a lot from you. I would like to share a thing about tibicos I discovered from internet and tried on my own water kefir. Apparently there is a threshold of pH, that over that (more alkaline) the new smaller grains are able to 'glue' to each other. Innerently to the fermentation itself, the pH tends to decrease (more acid) so lots of people like myself have struggled to multiply big beautiful grains, till I tried some baking soda (less than a coffee spoon of it) in one liter (grains + liquid) water kefir. I hope you can test this fortunate trick. With this trick you may continue to feed water kefir with your preferred nutritious blend (melassus, coconut sugar, eggshells...) Kind wishes

    I'm not sure you've told us, "How To Multiply Your Water Kefir Grains". I get that this is what you do, but as I don't have access to your water and your ambient temperature, I don't feel that I've come away from this video with any applicable advice on how "I" can multiply MY grains, other than the standard, "give them water and sugar".

      @@TheIntuitiveBodyFoodieNetwork I keep seeing, "Sometimes I give it some raisins, or salt, or baking soda", but then I also see, "They like consistency". I have had mushy water kefir grains too. I used a strainer with bigger holes to filter out the big/healthy grains. Since I do that, my water kefir grains are healthier and the yeasty/sour/vinegar taste is gone.

I'm now going to try to find a CZcams video or a web page that can explain how they work and to provide usable instructions on how I can do it at home. Did you buy the grains dehydrated & hard or were they already hydrated, plump and soft? It has been my observation & experience that dehydrated grains can take upwards to 6 months to get them reproducing. Too, changing the water every 2 days instead of every 3 or 4 days is essential. Too, try alternating one week with molasses and one week without. You might also want to try Jose's suggestion below.

    how much kefir do you drink per day? i am confused about this. all i can find on the net is to restrict to 1 to 2 cups per day. i had hoped to consume much more than this. please help me out with this. thanks.

    • @TheIntuitiveBodyFoodieNetwork
      @TheIntuitiveBodyFoodieNetwork  Před rokem +1

      How much to consume a day depends on your individual microbiome as it takes time for your microbiome to adapt to large quantities of fermented foods & beverages. My microbiome was severely compromised when I started consuming ferments. Consequently, it took me approximately 1 1/2 years of slowly increasing ferments while eliminating sugars & carbs to be able to consume 1 1/2-2 litres of water kefir a day, on top of all the other ferments I consume. Today I consume about 2 cups of water kefir, 1/2 cup milk kefir, and a wide range of other fermented foods. For the most part, I still consume a low carb diet though I do have the occasional high carb day. On higher carb days I drastically reduce my ferments, as it causes a lot of gas pains. You'll know you're consuming too much ferments if you get a lot of stomach, chest & upper back pain, the result of excess gas. If that happens, cut back your ferments, reduce your carbs, and give your body time to adjust.
