1980s were cleary the best era - Great Music, Awesome Action Heroes, Non PC common sense culture and people seemed way better and more fun back then. Everyone was happier despite the challenges. I was a tiny toddler back in the 80s but I still remember and savor every moment of it.

A lot easier to afford nice shit despite bad pay when you never go out with the boys, never take a lady out to eat, never spend on a lady to begin with, and subsist off of "batchelor food". Shitty way to live, but you can save money pretty quickly.

So we're talking around 3500 to 3900 per month (which lines up with "cheap" beachfront condo rent prices I'm seeing listed online). So right there we're talking around 55 to 65% of pre-tax salary going just towards rent. Now factor in water, power, gas, auto insurance, auto expenditures, food and health expenditures, and wardrobe, firearms, miscelaneous purchases. It adds up real fast. And thing is, cost of living in LA beachfront vs a detective's salary wasn't THAT bad in 1986, but it wasn't exactly great either.
Go home, cut myself a nice little slice of pizza with some scissors from my desk, and clean my gun with some utensils that I keep in my fridge, all while wearing gloves and sunglasses. That's what I'd like to do when I get home from work.

I can assure folks that in real life a 1949-51 Mercury owner would never park their car like that in real life. They would park it in a garage or worst case in the very back of a parking lot to avoid car dings from other cars and definitely not piss off some Mexican gang and then leave their car unattended like that.

He was quite muscular and quite short, and he was effusive in his praise of and thanks for Sylvester Stallone. He said he had almost a regular gig in Hollywood of being beaten up and thrown about by Stallone, along with three or four other very muscular and short stuntmen. Times would get tough, the rent would be overdue, and then he'd get a call asking if he'd like to be thrown through a plate glass window by Stallone. "I'll be there at 5 AM!" he's answer!
Of all the comments I've seen no one's ever mentioned the guy was probably a snitch, that mic tapped to his chest. Of course it was probably to get the audio for the scene for the movie, but yeah he's a snitch why else be wired.
