I took the tires off of my Tornado and put them on my 16 and totally transformed the truck. It will do backflips and willie's constantly now and the top end is about 40% more.
All I did was put ASAP of 10th scale after market sand buggy tires on it. That is taller than the tornadoes tires, and it does backflips and wheeles all the time.
You want it to squat, Redcat knows what they're doing. Squatting allows the tires to drop down into holes in the ground. It allows the suspension to reach down as far as it reaches up. Does this make any sense to you? A properly set up RC is exactly like your real car. It should sit right in the middle of the suspension. If it's set at the top like yours is, it'll Pogo bounce all over the place and be very hard to control. And your front end is still changing its camber/ caster. I don't know who told you to do all that. The back tires are angled in to create drag and keep the rear behind the car and also keep it in a straight line. After you've screwed the whole thing up, put the suspension back to Redcat stock and you'll be fine.
RC in a nut shell: 35c does not mean 35 cells. Did you really say that? Your 2s 7.4 volt battery only has two cells, with each cell at the LIPO standard of 3.7 volts per cell. Times 2 cells = 7.4 volts. A 3s has three cells times 3.7 volts = 11.1 volts, a 4s is 14.8 volts and so on. The C rating is the current discharge rating. And at 35c would be 35 times the batteries capacity. (capacity is the "C.") If the battery is 1,000 mAH = 1 amp x 35 = 35 amps of constant power. Putting in a motor that can use more than that is a waste of money, and might burn your ESC out. And 35 is not enough to fully function a 60amp ESC. The burst power rating is usually double the C rating which means the battery on a full power dump could burst to 70 amps on startup. My typical battery is a 3s, 11.1 volt 5,000 mAH battery at 50c. That means 5000 milliamps = 5amps x 50 = 250 amps of steady current with a 500 amp burst rating. My cars and trucks typically use half that, but still have very large Hobbywing 120 amp ESC's and 120 amp Sky RC Toro brushless 4900 KV 4-pole non sensor racing motors. The KV rating is how many rpms the motor will spin per volt. To determine max rpm, you multiply the KV times the voltage. So the 4900 KV motor will turn 54,390 rpms at 11.1 volts. Typical brushless is 20 thousand or less: 4-pole motors have twice as many points on the motor shaft being pushed by the ESC than the cheaper 2-pole. This effectively doubles the acceleration curve over similar 2-pole motors and are used in short coarse racing trucks. It also gives the ESC a real jolt and heats it up. It's like it's running a 2 cylinder engine vs a 4 cylinder engine: Sensored motors regulate the speed and isolate the poles in the motor and must be 4-pole sensored motors. They are used in applications that use very slow speeds like a crawler. Or short course racing trucks for their precise braking ability around turns. Take your pick. Crawlers normally can't use a brushless motor at all. Sensored motors also must have ESC's that are rated for them. Non-sensored motors have higher top speeds and are strictly voltage sensitive. Those Toros I told you about? On a fresh charged 3s battery of 12.4 volts can turn over 60,000 rpms and 100mph. And yes, they all have gyros. And there you have it, RC in one easy lesson. Using this and a little more arithmetic can tell you the top speed of your car without even running or building it. Critical on a scratch build. Your use determines your setup. And now, they're putting 3s in tiny 16th scale trucks: Hope this helps on your journey.

The hbx 16889 is the exact same truck. Can get any upgrade parts you want for it on Amazon or Banggood. The hbx 16889a pro comes fully upgraded for 140$ off Banggood. Wasted $ buying the volcano and having to completely upgrade it.

What kind of shocks are those on the upgraded one
I ordered one but I'm not sure of upgrading it cause this is my first redcat rc truck and I'm not sure how to disassemble and reassemble. I will upgrade the shock absorbers but that's about it but I'm not sure if it's worth the money
Hey you do you spend your money on what you want it’s your car. If you upgrade anything the choice you made with the shocks will be the best difference better handling and won’t bounce as much driving over rocks and gravel. I support your decision it’s your car and your money. I wasted myn so you don’t have to 👍. Happy trials let me know if you mind changes on if it’s worth the money. ❤️
Look for parts on Haiboxing/HBX 16889 or SG 1601, they are all the same car

I would recommend this one. It’s safe easy to use has balance charge and discharge also haven’t had a problem with it and have been for 2 years now.

I've had mine a while, reinforce the body right away... cracks so easy. I got the oil shocks right away. Ordered all the metal drivetrain parts for the hiaboxing version off banggood (about $50) but haven't broken any plastics yet! Get a bigger battery for sure. Awesome little truck for ripping small areas.

C does not stand for cell, the S stands for cell. The C is the discharge rate....

If I buy the same receiver you linked down in someone’s comment will all these other parts like the motor, ESC, and steering servo plug into it?
Yes they are plug and play but the motor you will have to either use the same connectors as what’s on the esc or you can choose what ever connectors you want for the motors positive and negative wires to the esc other than that the servo plugs into the receiver and the esc plugs in the the receiver with out modification you will have to hot glue the servo into place I put the mounting backer back on and a piece of double-sided sticky tape to hold it and then I put a dab of hot glue on all 3 corners worked great hit bumps jumps still haven’t have to fix it

The hbx 16889a pro is the identical truck comes fully upgraded. Full metal drive train oil filled shocks brushless motor 140$ same truck.
These are the same as the HBX 16889 but not brushless.
I put a 2440 GoolRC motor and HW 16bl30 in mine. It’s fast but I think I would probably try to find a 2840-2845 size motor with the proper shaft size. Regardless though, it’s stupid fast. Backflips for days.
If I buy a new receiver would I have to buy a new controller too or would it come with it?
Good question. If your looking to upgrade yes you will need a receiver transmitter combo. Meaning the controller comes with the receiver. I’m not talking to you like your stupid I’m making it easy incase other people read these and are newbies to the hobby nothing against you 👍.

They're 16th scale. Why do you think it's called a Volcano 16? Do we have Einstein's in the house? And they're also 6 year old Redcat Tremors of which there were 3 versions. The Volcano 16 is the last version. Now, every company in the world is buying these as roller kits, jazzing them up and putting their names on them. Redcat must be selling a gazillion of these little trucks today. And all the metal upgrades. And for the first time I might add. In the past, these were too small to really sell well for the price. 10th scale ruled. No one made these 16th scalers at all except Redcat. They were relegated to a little kids first RC and were just brushed motors. Just like the Volcano 16 is today. They're almost indestructible for the same reason. I got mine on sale for 80 dollars. And I'm going to leave it all plastic just to see how long it lasts. I did add nice shocks and have all the metal upgrades ready to install. But I'm leaving it stock and I'm betting the plastic holds up in a tiny brushed car. Everyone sells these little Redcat Tremors today. The Chinese have brought it up to a new level and have around 10 full brands at least, and adding more every single day. That's how you know they're not producing them themselves. But they're jazzing them up with Brushless motors, metal gears, and I have a Gool (an old name) rated for 3s, out of the box. A tiny 16th scale on 3s. Wow. I guess anything that can survive little children can survive 3s. I just sent a Hyper Go to my son for Christmas. This is the top dog. It has an all metal drive line, oil filled shocks, two LIPO batteries and the optional 3s 2000 LIPO battery. It's a beast. (I said that about my Gool) A Redcat Tremor never looked so good. For some reason, smaller is better today. Maybe because it's cheaper? I don't know, that Hyper Go wasn't cheap. But it was under 200 dollars complete. The full size Volcano 10th scale is only 179. The brushless is only 239. But with no batteries. So maybe that's why the new interest in 16th scale. The 10th scale used to come with batteries. Do you see why the little trucks never really sold when they did? There's so much you have to put in it, no matter what size it is. Some companies even make 24th scale RC's today and those are the size of tiny slot cars.

I used a Redcat esc out of a road car the epx drift and I used the receiver transmitter out of the same car Because I can’t stand combos and I hate cheap remotes 😂

I think the lithium ion batteries don’t have enough power the lipo lasts longer in my use

Make sure the size is correct for the space it sits in and yes you will get a little bit more power myn does wheelies

It is the same truck the electrics are different but if you use everything in the description you should be good

You need to lower it a little bit. That's why it wheelies and flips so easily.

That battery is for 1/10 vehicles but this is a 1/16th it uses the same batteries the scx24 uses the other would be as big as the car so I would say no 👍

35C doesn’t mean 35 cell. That’s a 2s (2 cells in series) battery. 35c refers to the discharge rate, which is 35 times Capacity, so 35 amps since it’s 1Ah
Does yours have a problem where when you steer it the wheels won’t go all the way straight and make the car go sideways even though you have the steering perfect

Newbie here. When upgrading batteries to the Lipo, does it plug into the existing connectors or are additional parts required?
I swapped out all my plugs to dean plugs. So you can either swap them out to what you want to use yourself
