I mean, most people even slip into something similar to General American when they sing, even without knowing it! Mick Jagger, George Michael, and Adele just to name a few notable examples. It makes sense when you think about it; the basis of GA was literally made by the media in the early 1900's so that personalities wouldn't sound like they're _from_ anywhere and therefore appeal to the largest demographics. The history and use of the modern standard american dialect is actually really interesting topic.

theRealAV8r Yes! the Songs don't even have to have any English in it to adopt a GA-esque intonation and rhythm quality. Many Latin American, East Asian, and continental European songs for example have 'neutral' vocals that were influenced by the anglophone trend set 100 years ago to encompass a wider and more varied demographic.
I generally think that it’s easier for British people to memorize or replicate American accents because there are more American movies spread worldwide than there are British movies with British actors In America and that’s why when Americans try to replicate British accents they don’t sound authentic because they’re really just almost in away memorizing it from small bits of material that they have seen but I could be wrong I don’t really know but that’s what I think

It’s hard to imagine “putting on” an American accent- being an American. British accents always sounds so elegant. It would seem to me much easier to go the other way with our flat accent. Lol. If we came from across the pond anyway, makes me wonder why it changed.
The American accent has changed little since the British brought it to America. The British accent, on the other hand, has changed. Anyway, the British accent is very elegant. To have a vulgar American accent is miserable.
American accents are super easy, there’s just a slightly tricky sound in words with “r”’s in them. If you avoid that mistake it’s easy to do an generic American accent.
I might be wrong but in my opinion British actors do American accents better than American actors do British accents

theRealAV8r Yes! the Songs don't even have to have any English in it to adopt a GA-esque intonation and rhythm quality. Many Latin American, East Asian, and continental European songs for example have 'neutral' vocals that were influenced by the anglophone trend set 100 years ago to encompass a wider and more varied demographic.
Chiwetel Ejiofor as a being from the void has quite the impressive change in accent, from horrible unknowable cosmic Eldritch sounds to Human English.
Emma Watson still sounds English...
MichaelLeroi thank you that's what I thought too
Rumpel Felt That's not the point at all
Rumpel Felt your disgusting...
She’s not fantastic at it but at least she sounds less British.
MichaelLeroi Rosamund Pike isn't so great either.
Am I the only one who lost his hearing at 06:30?
I was terrified
No, me too.
Omg I totally freaked out I thought a demon was gonna come out of my computer
+Emma same I was terrified
Yup yup
I came here to check if Tom Holland, Freddie Highmore, and Tom Hardy are listed
Emily's in looper definitely my favorite
4:00 can definitely hear her accent peeking through lol

It was "get wasted all the time" and "now I feel like" "I can even get into a real college"
I think emma still sounded quite british 🤔 she just changed the way of saying some of the letters 🤔😅 like a, r, ..
It sounded like she was trying too hard to hide her accent. Just needs more practice.
Yup
Yes, she couldn't do it
andrew lincoln was my favorite actor when i was little the walking dead was my childhood❤️
Andrew Lincholn's real name is Andrew Clutterbuck. He's the brother of my old school headmaster Richard Clutterbuck and he came into our school a few times! Cool guy, very humble.
Kate Winslet has a PERFECT American accent!! Omg
Yeah, it really is, isn't it.
I refuse to be told that Idris Elba isn’t a dude from Baltimore that can do a really good British accent
And I mean !!!
He’s Australian
@dani cali I’m aware. It called a joke bud
@@Pinoy_Central_Official_Backup no he isn't?
@@Pinoy_Central_Official_Backup He’s British, you idiot
Maaaaan, The Jacket. That movie had completely vanished from my memory. I remember seeing in theatres and vaguely recall liking it.
Its 2021 so I think Grace deserves 2021 Abo's
Is it me, or does Emma Watson's American accent need some work
I like Emma but she's a terrible actress. Not just the accent, but her acting, in general, is very weak. Maybe she'll improve in time.
@@Sam-oo1uo she's gotten worse since when she was a child though, so I've lost hope lol
Times 100
Idk
She might just need work in general
Emma Watsons American accent is so weird. You should hear her in bling ring like my gawd
I think she was trying to do a valley girl accent or something
It still sounds English.
She's a really bad actress.
+shashauno WHAT
+shashauno hahahhs ok
6:35 oh yeah everyone just loves that accent
Can't believe Daniel Day Lewis isn't in here. His accent is flawless.
Kate Winslet is literally perfect.
i would judge her american accent to be "a part of her" - while the others do excellent accents - they don't seem to have the freedom of expression she does - Tim Roth and Gary Oldman are at that level too
true. good point. with kate winslet, you FEEL like she is an American. when emma Watson talks, you can tell she is a british person trying to impersonate an American.
^ *coughs* IDRIS ELBA
Black Americans say wit it too
Erin Levere Not in the same way.
I thought a demon was trying to communicate at 6:30 holy shit that scared me ... it's night rn Lol
Lex! 😂
omg 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Same i thought my earbuds were acting up
@@marmottrash same
K well some of these are flawless.
Pretty much nailed it.
Robert Pattinson is really gifted. I am excited to see him as The Batman
Are you Faroese?
Can’t wait 👏🏽
it’s out 🎉🎉
It’s out and it’s great
He totally nailed it, one of the best Batman movies ever
Why is nobody talking about Tom Hardy? What a contrast!
binboda eh, I hated his accent in Venom. Great actor, nonetheless, but I wasn’t impressed
@@StevenRainmaker Sounds like he's trying a New York american accent. It's hard to define if the problem is the accent or his pronunciation
Beto U.U agreed. When I saw Venom, I could tell he was struggling to hide his cockney accent. Go back and watch the part where he says he has a parasite. The word “parasite” clearly has the accent.
@@StevenRainmaker In his most intense moments, sounds almost australian (like wtf, dude?). But his american accent in the movie/tv show played in this video is pretty much ok, actually
Beto U.U I rewatched this video, and saw he was speaking with his real accent and was like, “He’s not even trying!” and then, I realized that he was playing someone English. Then, in Lawless, he had an old school, southern accent. I could hear moments of breaking, but he’s still a good actor nonetheless
These are so great
this astonishes me
not mentioned but also tom hiddleston, richard madden and benedict cumberbatch!! they do the american accents too good.
Idk about benedict
@@marmottrash yh, his dr strange is good. i know he did try boston accent in a movie but his accent looked forced and out of place, but dr strange one was great.
I may be alone here, but Tom Holland is also surprisingly good as of Far from Home.
H U. Massachusetts accent does not equal North American accent
@@huh4206 according to Erik Singer, he sounds just like the real person he played in black mass

I saw gone girl years ago and rosamund pike was so chilling in it
I in love with British accent!
Emma Watson's American accent could use a little work
AleqsH it's so fucking bad
It sucks lol
Fr
AleqsH yes
AleqsH in thought that too and I'm my even American! She still sounded English with a twang
Garry Oldman, Tim Roth, Henry Cavill, Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson, Joseph Morgan. I'm sure there are more.
Hugh Laurie is definitely one
dominic sherwood is another for his character on shadow hunters playing Jace Wayland
Linus Roache (Ken Barlow's son) is another.
christian bale???
Robert Pattinson is in this
It’s hard to imagine “putting on” an American accent- being an American.
6:33 Man got the White Noise British accent
