i'm not really impressed when people can do a general american accent. you know its true skill when you can do regional accents such as southern and northeastern accents.
I know Ed Westwicks nephew. (I go to the same school as him
David R Lentz, USA Of all these performers (some I do not know from their roles), my favourite is Emma Watson (from 3:22 till 4:08), who embodies the ideal blend of intelligence, confidence, poise, and endearing sweetness, endowing her with extraordinary range and eclecticism. As an aspiring novelist, I would love to write cinematic roles-dramas, adventures, even a musical, and/or a comedy-for her that show her full capacity.
At 6:34, a hissing louder than the speaker's voice intrudes.
Keira transformed into a completely different person once she started talking
4:30 Her accent was like a mixture of Northern and Southern.
Just imagine when you were too much into the character of the scene, but you forgot the do the accent so the director asks for a retake. Now you are conscious about the accent that you suck in acting the scene. 😂
Well done Maggie Gyllenhaal 👏 very hard to shout while putting on an accent.
Gwyneth Paltrow nailed that accent...into the floor. Dear God! 🙄
Zellweger just way out in front; sounds fully British. I'd have to watch it again, but I don't think she misses a note in the entire of Bridget Jones. Streep absolutely nails Margaret Thatcher but that doesn't quite represent a controlled experiment given how weird Thatcher's voice was. Gyllenhaal close in at third. The rest I'm afraid simply don't cut the mustard.
THE BEST English accent is Elle Fanning in "The Great"! UNBELIEVABLE! All the rest are very close, but -- sometimes -- a little TOO "cut glass". The "not quites" inc: Rene Zell', Gwynnie Palt', Meryl, Anne Hath' ... They are ALL perfectly passable, but as a Brit who has lived in Oz 20yrs, UK 20yrs, US 20yrs ... I may be a little more attuned ... but could EASILY just be "boasting" on my part!

Tom Holland does the best American accent imo. The older actors seem to have difficulty
6:33 LMAOOO I AM LAUHFINF TOO HARD
Are all Hollywood actors British? Wow I had no idea that so many actors and actresses I watch were british. Like, The walking dead's protagonist? 🤯
Robert Downey Jr. actually nailed it, almost sounding precisely like Jeremy Irons. So Americans can do a general or posh British accent. But what about Scouse and Geordie accents? I can’t see them doing those accents
You british and english motherfuckers need to learn American
british people, as with most of the world, spend their entire lives with american accents in their ear..I have family in england. Believe me, the brits are just as familiar with "americana" as americans are- it is actually bothersome to some of my more elder family members over there..
1:30-1:37 The Brit revealed himself.
I don't know why all these people are wetting themselves over Idris Elba. I'm British and I can hear his British accent in pretty much every other sentence. Kate Winslet is very convincing
The difference between the American northeast and south is the north takes the r out and the south puts the r in. The north caa for car, south warsh for wash.
I notice people from the UK let their accent slip when using words like "Command" or "Campbell".
Stephen Graham and most of the cast of Band of Brothers did solid American accents.
You can always tell it is a British actor because they can never pronounce the word anything correctly. They pronounce it anythin, you will hear it every time.
Some British or Irish actors go for General American when the character would be *from* somewhere that wouldn't have that accent. Thinking Domhnall Gleeson in The Revenant. Too generic. Especially when contrasted with Tom Hardy in the same movie.
Only because noone is mentioning it i want to say Damien Lewis' accent is very good. Im not american, so im not an expert. But is seems like a very natural normal accent, i think its easier to do a southern or californian accent but nailing a subtle generic american accent makes it undetectable.
Never knew Charlie Hunnam is English.
Don Cheadle calling people tossers doesn't work lol. Black people in London never spoke like that.
I wasn’t aware Bridget Jones is an American 😂😂
Maggie Gyllenhal and Angelina Jolie were the most convincing.
I don't know why but I don't like hearing Emma Watson with an American accent
These are some garbage accents
Don Cheadle in Oceans 11 was the most annoyingly artificial British accent ever!
My problem with Florida is there are teams that are handling business on Tuesday and the weekend. Also, to get through a regional, super, and CWS, you need more than just weekend starters. So no. 6 seems a little high.
These are all English actors. Where are the Welsh, like Michael Sheen, Tom Ellis, and the Scottish like James McAvoy and David Tennant, Ewan McGregor, Kelly McDonald?
Gary oldman?
Gwyneth's British accent is god awful and the guy from Oceans 11 (I knew he wasn't British straight away although I hadn't seen him in anything before). Renee wins it hands down, I actually didn't know she was American when I first watched Bridget Jones.
Meryl Streep nailed it idc what anybody says.
I thought she was British
I hadn't realised Forrest Whitaker had done a British Engish accent in the Crying Game . I must see that film some time .
Cheadle's is hilarious
No one beats Zellweger.
I can hear British behind most of these accents now that I think about it.
idris Elba doesn't get enough credit.
It's so odd hearing Renee Zellweger talk in her natural American accent 😂
Up to the late-90s you were guaranteed laughable British accents from most US actors; in the last 10-15 years there's dozens who do it amazingly well. Anne Hathaways's in One Day sticks out as pretty bad, though...
Renee Zellwegger sounded like a very convincing middle class home counties accent.
Oscar Isaac does a very good British cockney accent.
No kudos for Jim Carrey's american accent in Eternal Sunshine??
British people when they're home alone and they don't have to do the accent anymore
